Take half a bucket of water, mix any detergent sachet, put the k&N filter in it and leave it overnight. Following day, rinse the filter in clear water and expose it under sun to dry. Then buy a 2t oil packet and get hold of a syringe and slowly inject oil all over the filter. It's a tried and tested method and doesn't wrap the filter not one bit

One word of caution : do not overuse the oil.
Thanx for info, lets see if that helps...

did a bit of googling and found some rewies saying that green is better than k&n as it has a thicker rubber part which can absorb vibrations better and also more but smaller pores on the surface when compared to k&n so restricting dust better...
all the details abt the green filter r available below...
so confused so as to what filter should be bought...

Pete's Automotive Products Pvt Limited> Main Section > Green Filters > Universal Filters > Green Filter Universal Conical Bike K7.50 50mm I.D, fits unicorn, Karisma, etc

K&N's Universal Air Filters are designed and manufactured for a wide variety of applications including racing vehicles, radio-controlled cars, generators, snowmobiles, tractors, and other applications. Regardless of the angle or offset diameter of the air intake, there is probably a K&N Universal air filter for your equipment. All filters are constructed with ultra-strong molded pliable rubber flanges which absorb vibration and allow for secure attachment and can also be stretched for up to 1/16" (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes. K&N universal air filters are washable and reusable.

    hi,

I own a honda unicorn (2005), planning to go for a K&N (RC1060) filter. Just replacing the filter will do or do I also have to get the jetting done, can you suggest which number Jets can be deployed.

IMHO it's a big NO for these airfilters... as a friend posted in the previous page, I also have heard about the small pores that restricts the dust in..but (I am not sure..but pulsars are) I think ZMR has a stock airfilter that is wet..I mean soaked in oil..but the AFs you suggested (Green and K&N) are dry ones. I think that will let in a lean mix.. which again in my very HMO is not much healthy for your ride. Also I guess that time is long gone when people noticed those bikes which has more sound.

Now, I have almost covered 3000 kms after I had it installed and so now I need to know how should I clean it.

I have heard about cleaning it with a solution and oil from k&n. But I searched almost in all major parts of mumbai like Lamington road, Bandra and a few well known mechanics and stores. But nobody keeps the recharge kit for K&n(thats what one of the guy called it when I asked for k&n air filter oil and cleaning solution)

If anybody knows about it Please send me the details....
