I think it would be just fine to run your current oil to it's full useful life of around 2500 kms . But I suggested you to change early because of uncertain service history and unchanged oil filter only . It's better to err on the safer side , is the way I think . I am also the guy that drains perfectly running oil at 2000kms . But my friends do say that I am overcautious , so you can follow your own feeling on this . No problem .

If he has to use 10w30 , ask your friend to seek out either the HeroHonda 4T premium 10w30 made by Tidewater oils or the Gulf Pride 4T 10w30 . The HH oil is cheaper at 170Rs per 900ml bottle .
Btw , for regular use regular petrol(87octane), is good enough . Our engines are tuned for this fuel . Now and then you can fill a tank of IOCL (or other) Xtra premium fuel to clean out the system . AFAIK the premium fuels sold in urban markets here are all the same 87 octane grade as regular , they just contain some additives . The only high-octane fuel in the market now that I am aware of is BPCL speed 93(93 octane) .

Living in a good locality in Bangalore, I have the reach for good quality fuel but need to be wary of these boys at bunk that can con us., I have never tried any other fuel than ordinary Shell petrol for my bike, I just get it filled full tank. But I have seen the premium fuel make difference in dad's 2T Kinetic Y2k. The vehicle becomes smooth and there is no stalling. Yet I am not convinced of spending more money for fuel additives for a very new bike,.
On other note, our opel corsa requires us to add a fuel additive 1ml per liter each time we fill fuel to prevent engine knocking and keep FI clean and working.

      • Motul 300v for Yamaha FZ-16

        Hi,

I ride yamaha FZ-16, for about 15K Km used Yamalube mineral oil changing it at regular intervals of 2.5K-3K Km. For the last ~3K km been using Yamalube semi-Synthetic(used in R15). Now am thinking of trying Motul 300v 15W50, would like to know if its OK...would be great if anyone with experience shares their review.

the oil capacity for FZ-16 is 1.2L and most of the oils come in 1L packs, is it OK to add any other oil for the remaining 200ml as long as the viscosity rating is same?

        • Motul 300v FS 15w50

My Fazer has been on Yamalube 15w50 SS since the first service. Have done 13K km on it.
A month back I tried Motul 300 v, the bike got very rough at 500 km after the oil change. I had to get back to Yamalube SS again.
I have heard and read a lot of users here using Motul 300V with lot of good reviews. I am not sure what happened to my bike.

            • Yamalube 20W40 review.

My ZMA has become peppier than ever, and even after constant highway riding at 90+ speeds the engine still remains refined. The acceleration during city riding has also increased my a huge margin, now am zipping and zapping from bumper to bumper, just like em P220 riders do and that too without any effort at all, the bike's also able to rev upto 8k in any gear without any strain i.e provided the bike is properly warmed up, the pistonning engine note post 6K has drastically reduced to a mild thump. In short its just awesome.

Well surely you can go for FS after your bike has cover close to 15k km. Engine will be smoother, you can easily go on long long rides, better mileage, sometimes clutch may slip. The Motul 300V costs about rs.950/lt. and you will need to buy 2lt i.e rs.1900, since our bikes oil capacity is 1.2lt when we chage it with oil fiter. Dont forget to change oil fiter. Also many time the FS oils just vanish i.e oil level drops over regular use, so you need to keep checking and topping up oil every 15-20days. This oil should last you 5-6months or 6-8k km. Dont mix any other oil with 300V, you wont get the smoother feel, then whats the point spending so much money?

But considering the price we have to pay for 2lt of the oil and filter coming close to Rs.2000, I rather use what I am currently using for my bike i.e yamalube SL mineral 20W40 with new oil filter for every 2000km or 1-2month since i dont run the bike much I just get this done at regular bike service!

You are blessed - the bike doesn't like expensive oil . You were running an oil way thinner than needed by your bike's engine , at ambient temperatures higher than it could handle - that's what happened here IMO . What is the recommended oil grade for Fazer in the owners manual for your temps ?

Even though I've read lots of good reviews about Motul 300v, I didn't find it that good neither in my unicorn(300v10w40) nor in my friends FAZER(15w50).
ELF synthetic oil is performing very well in my friends Fazer, he is using second bottle and the engine feels really smooth. By the way do you find any overheating problem in Fazer?

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                          #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.
