I heard 300v spoils the clutch in the long run. Is that true? I saw in the 200NS ownership thread that using 300v leaves the clutch burnt, especially in pulsars. I'm left with 800 ml of unused 300v and I'll have to change the oil in about 1000 kms. Shall I use it or shall I go with 7100 and somehow sell off the 300v?

Not at all. I've known people who've used the oil for more than 9k KMS without no problem whatsoever. In fact Motul themselves suggest 300V and 5100 for Pulsars, but that's just their take. I think I am hearing a clutch burn issue on a 200NS for the first time.

You can go ahead with 300V without any problems whatsoever! Perhaps the way the guy used the bike or that his clutch might, unluckily would have been a faulty one. But it still befuddles me to know the clutch burning on a 200NS. Strange!

300v is always safe for Pulsars, three to four of my friends using it in their Pulsar 220's and one Pulsar 200 too. Clutch damage using 300v seems pretty strange. Never happens. As said above, the clutch might be a defective one. Sometimes faulty clutch centres when messed more, they eat the clutch plates
With 300v, my friends Never faced any problem too. U can go with it, Im currently using 300v in my Fz-s too.

Shell AX7 is pretty much available at most petrol stations, except the AX3 20w40 which I find pathetically hard to find, at least in my hometown. AX7 is almost everywhere here. I'd suggest you go for AX3

If feel its the other way. If you can't get Motul, then go for Shell oils. I didn't get the Motul oil, so I got the Shell oil.

Yea motul 20w40 is difficult to get, when I don't get motul I go for gulf pride. What's the difference between shell ax7,ax5 and ax3?

Not really. Both are really different breeds, but Motul with its ester technology has a slight lead and viscosity metrics, especially when it comes to higher temperature grade. But for the same grade 10w40 5100 which is a tad cheaper than the 15w50 of the 5100. I'd suggest you if you're budget constrained stick with Shell or if you extend a tad more, go for 5100 10w50 Motul.

In terms of mineral oil?

I don't find shell ax3 & ax5 good enough. Ax7 (SS oil) is much much better. If anyone wants SS oil in 10w40 grade than another great oil is veedol super swift. Motul 5100 is pretty costly but surely a lovely oil. Regarding other mineral oils mak, servo, hp racer, motul 3000, valvoline champ (not champion), elf moto 4 pro are really good options.

If you have a shell petrol bunk nearby they will have the stock. The only problem with them is that they sell at MRP unlike the dealers/retailers who usually give about 20-40/- discount.

Look at the shell AX 7 and the shell Ultra 's specifications...they are almost same in critical areas like Viscosity Index, flash point and Kinematic Viscosity.....

Shell AX7 is anyday a much better choice at a lower price....
