I have used castrol power one, shell ax7, motul 3100 and all these are around the 350rs mark for a liter. I have found motul being most suited for pulsars, amazingly the best oil I have used till date was a car oil for my car nd it was from mobil and trust me there was nothing better than that unfortunately I forgot the name and have not been able to source the same.

Yes indeed. The reason maybe due to this is what I reckon, the both the AX3 and AX5 are mineral oils with just the W increased in the latter

The AX5 is semi synthetic. I've been using it for the past 10K odd km on my discover 135 & by far the best suited oil for D135.

No offense buddy but [MENTION=20218]blackthorn[/MENTION] is right ax3 is like low grade mineral oil whereas ax5 is premium mineral oil means it offers better smoothness and protection, ax7 is semi synth.

Got myself a can of motul 3100 gold 20W50 technosynthese
Used it in my pulsar 180 ug3 and found it excellent.
Now will add it to my pulsar 150 classic.
Best oil for pulsars according to me. I change it every 1.7 k to 2 k kms
And it dosent get degraded at all till then.
Cost 330rs for a liter which is also good.
Better than castrol according to me.

hi/excuse me ... has anyone used the "Mobil" brand of bike engine oil?

It just happened that the regular store I buy my engine oils had this Mobil brand in their collection (only one type - 10W-40 Semi Synthetic, Rs.328/-). Its been for few months now been using it on my Unicorn or since I brought my Unicorn last year. According to what I feel is that its comparatively better than mineral based 10W-30 ones. So did anyone had a "Mobil" experience here?

I rode a friends bike today.
He has done something weird. He has used a lott of pencils leads... the lead in the pencils! He made it in front of me.. he made around 150gms of pencil lead powder, it was really fine, he used a grinding mixer..
Finer than talc ... he mixed it with 1 ltr of shell engine oil and put it in his bike! He rode it around for sometime and then I tried it... I have never felt a smoother bike in my life, its so weird... has anyone ever seen or heard about this? He has a honda stunner. Before and afer the oil change was just hell and heaven.... he said an old mechanic told him the trick... but im sceptical.... I mean pencil lead???


Ps: if its important, he used those thick drawing pencil leads that are available without a wooden pencil around them and are very soft nd break easily. He also said that if a bike has an oil filter thats replacable then this method cannot be used like an apache has an oil filter thats replacable whereas a unicorn dosent.

Graphite is used as lubricant in 'industries' where the working temperatures are very high and the number of moving parts is very high and normal lubricants won't be effective in such conditions.
But in our motorcycle engines, the temperatures are not that high. If it was required, the engine oil manufacturing companies would have been using graphite in the oil mixture.
Addition of any unwanted substances in the engine oil would not be healthy for the engine and if anyone uses these methods, he/she is going to harm the engine. Its their bike and can do anything in the end.

Wont it get filtered by oil filter?? If the powder is not circulated by oil and ibit sticks to the walls, the engine might go kaput?

I think thats why he said he wont recommend it in an oil filtered bike. As we know bajaj pulsar and unicorns and stunners dont have a replaceable oil filter. Also if the graphite sticks to the piston and cylinder walls and gear teath it will be awsome! It will be able to fill in any minute cracks etc and can survive high temperatures and is very slippery! But I dont knw how effective it is in real life...theoretically it is a nice concept. I dug very deep into this and found out top fuel dragsters and f1 cars use graphite! Now aint that funny! I wont try it for sure because I love my bike. But an afternoon well spent learning about carbon and its strange ways!

Now I realised I was wasting 74 rupees on a circular thing which SVC people call oil filter and were changing it on very oil change.

What bike do you have? Pulsar 200ns and pulsar 135 has oil filters and its a good thing that they change it.
Pulsar 150, 180, 220 and avenger dont have a replaceable oil filter
