Also Which is the best 20w50 oil brand?
I've searched for petronas which I could not find (Castrol's are a plenty)
Also are all 20w50 oils semi synthetic? Sorry for my ignorance
    U r welcome Bro.

The only mineral oil in 20W50 grade is Castrol Activ Xtra. Costs some 210 per litre.

Other options are Motul 300V 15W50 (Fully synthetic and the best oil by far)

    Motul 5100 15W50 (Semi synthetic)

Valvoline Premium 4T 20W50 (Semi Synthetic)
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

No buddy, ELF and Motul are different entities.

Also, there is absolutely no problem if u use a 15W50 in place of a 20W50. It actually does good.

I request u to read the first page of this thread. U will get a very clear idea of what xWy means.

These type of oils are Multigrade oils, x,y are VI(Viscosity Index) of the oil at 0 and 100 degress respectively. Multigrade oils can change their VI according to the temperature and hence a name.

So lower the 'x' value, quicker the oil spreads inside ur engine during cold starts;providing more protection.

That would probably be the worst thing u did to ur bike.

Petrol is never to be used as a flushing agent. It is NOT a lubricant. It has the ability to crack the seals inside the engine.

There are various flushing agents in the market, u should ve used on of them

There is one from 3M buddy. If u dont get in from any retail shop, go to any Authorised Car service centre, they would sure have stock of flushing agent.

Though u had put petrol , u shouldn have let the engine run without a proper lubricant. I bet u would have heard some grinding noise then.

Not just marketing, but at dubious marketing at that! Typical Castrol style. One of the reasons I try and avoid it.

You also get MAK in that viscosity range. Its mineral. No idea how it performs though.

Why not order Petronas through one of their marketing/sales men? Probably the best option.

Flushing with petrol! Man, thats crazy enough. On the top of that, you let the engine idle like that for whole 5 min. And that too with only 1/2 liter petrol as lube! Why did not you put in some sand there as well. This is just not done. Your engine is atleast partially damaged if it ran like that for a whole 5 min.

We should flush the engine with some light 0W20 grade oil (this is actually what flushing agents are). If that is not available flush it with the same grade oil that you will be using. But petrol/diesel/kerosene - NEVER.

And one thing, some petrol would have surely remained there. When you added your new oil, it would have got diluted by this left over petrol. I recommend that you change your oil once again.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!
