I read some where that it is not recommended to use very high capable engine oil where your bike not utilise engine oil fully.

Thanks Madhav that I know but how much it cost,Originally posted by madhav krishna View Postyes they do sell. Just go to any nearby yamaha SC & ask them yamalube 15w50 oil. BTW the oil is semi synthetic only. It is the same motul oil & is just rebadged & sold by yamaha.
its a good oil for 220...
I don't think so Jiten FS means less wear and tear....Originally posted by JitenMistry View PostMy question is that does Yamaha R15 need Full synthetic oil since I am not using it in race track?

The info you have read is partially correct. The fully synthetic oils are very stable even at higher temperatures hence when the engine needs to work at its fullest then also the synthetic oils doesnt give up. To use or not completely depends on YOU. If you are willing to spend a premium (nearly 3Xmineral oil price) then you can put the oil. But wait the extra premium also has a few benefits like the oil can run thrice the mineral oils due to its highly stable compounds which do not break easily & do not loose its viscosity. Even you get a better protection, smoother engine & improved fuel economy. The synthetic oils can be used even in himalayas i.e very cold temperatures. These oils even have property to flow easily during morning starts due to which there is less wear & tear in engine & moreover these oils are designed such that they stick to the walls of the engine even after the engine is turned off.Originally posted by JitenMistry View PostMy question is that does Yamaha R15 need Full synthetic oil since I am not using it in race track?

Synthetick oil
Dear Zayn, have U ever use Agrip FS or Motul FS oils. Because I found good response in xBhp of honda unicorn using castrol power 1 racing. Castrol power 1 racing FS cost 620/- onlyOriginally posted by zayn View PostGo for it,but remember the bike should be ran 4000km before shifting to full Synthetic oil,Life span is 3 times more then the Mineral oil and it depend on your riding style too but its better to invest money on Agrip FS or Motul FS engine oils rather Castrol.
20W50 OILS,
1. Motul 3000T (Mineral)
2. Motul 300V fully synthetic 15W50
3. Valvoline 4T Premium 20w50
4. Bajaj 10,000 Dts-i SS
Try these oils and your bike will love it trust meLast edited by rd_x_plosiv; 09-03-2010, 07:30 PM.

Motul 300v MRP = Rs.895/-Originally posted by zayn View PostBut its easier to find yamalube and Motul 5100 cost same its for 450rs and 300v FS is around 1050rsAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Go for FS if you want to use the bike for track use, or if you redline it constantly. Otherwise SS should be ample, or even mineral for that matter.Originally posted by JitenMistry View PostMy question is that does Yamaha R15 need Full synthetic oil since I am not using it in race track?
I read some where that it is not recommended to use very high capable engine oil where your bike not utilise engine oil fully.
btw, the drain interval for FS is longest, followed by SS, & then mineral.
I personally feel, FS is sufficient & VFM.
Don't buy the Yamalube SS (MRP 415) though! Other members & I aren't happy with it, & prefer the Motul SS 5100. MRP 450.

I just loaded my bike with Motul 5100 15W50 semi synthetic oil, as of now it is good, but will have to see in the long run. The reading was around 3700 kms. so I will be using this for the next 2,300 kms. or so. Next oil change interval would be around 6,000 kms. I paid Rs. 425/- per litre. The oil that I drained today was just like water, though I did not touch & feel it. Which oil does Autoservice use ?

ThnxA very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)
