Which Motul oil do you suggest?
Sakinaka dealer is very close to me, as i am in marol.
HH oil is mineral or semi synth??
if mineral, then go for motul 5100. i m not sure whether it is available in xW30. sorry abt that. but u can ask the dealer for semi synth oil options.

or if u want to go for full synth u have two options. 7100 & 300V FL.
7100 is a bit cheaper than 300V. but 300V is the best bet.

7100 cost around 725/- per ltr
300V cost around 800-850/- per ltr
(*prices may vary, coz i heard sometime back that motul is going to hike prices )

yes 725/-... as far as i know there is no semi syn in elf... there r only 2 types of mineral, both 20w40... this is the only fully syn Xw50 in tghe market apart from motul 300v,motul 7100.... they r 15w50... will write abt the oil in a week when i change it and complete a couple of hundred of kms on them... the drain interval has a guarentee of 5000kms first time and 8000kms after that with top-up when required... been using motul 5100 15w50,it is not lasting 3k kms, guess 2.5 is the drain period in the p220...

      @ puneeth - no,it is available only in 10w50 grade... if u want 10w40 u can try - shell advance full syn/semi syn :- both 10w40; castrol power 1 racing - 10w40- fully syn; petronas sprinta fully syn/semi syn - both 10w40...

@ satish - i was searching for the shell advance semi syn 10w40 for an extreme, but colud not find it anywhere in ameerpet and yousfguda... they all showed me this oil and the best price i got was 650/- with out the bag..
so i went to my regular guy on the main road of madhuranagar junc,he also had the oil and said 700 a bottle, told him i'm getttin it for 650/- in ampet and that i need 2,so he gave me each for 650/- along with the bag...

The HH oil is mineral .
Anyone actually used a car / generic engine oil and experienced any problem or damage ? I am asking because I see that worldwide many people are using some types of car oils in their bikes sucessfully , works out very cheap specially if purchased in the bulk .
Also some manufacturers in India now have this "Fuel Economy" type oils for bikes , any feedback on those ?

car oils should not be used in bikes. just a few pages back this issue had been discussed.
dont have ant idea abt fuel economy oils. actually every oil promises better fuel economy, better performance blah blah & blah.......

            a) Yes I have read all that discussuion and advice , must say sound advice too . But many general car engine oils in India do not have those additives which may cause clutch slippage , specially if it's above 10W30 , and not marked as "fuel conserving" . Specially diesel engine oils like castrol crb-plus , gtx , delo , shell rotella , HP diesel oils , BP diesel oils, veedol HDB etc do not have any additives harmful to bike engines and should be way cheaper per litre . I am presently running Castrol crb-plus in my RX-135 for many years , even after they removed the "petrol engine" classification from it . No problemo . So I was wanting to know if anyone has used this or similar generic diesel oils in their small 4 strokers / scooters and found any real problem or otherwise it worked well ? Because I have a whole 10litre jar of crb-plus and a measuring mug .

            b) I am finding many people and mechanics here using oils like crb-plus in their Splendors etc and reporting better results too .

            c) By fuel-economy oils I was meaning the new oils that they have just come out with , mainly in 10W30 grade , and named so for eg. "ELF Moto4 Fuel Eco" . Castrol has also one cheap red bottle of general "two wheeler oil" 20w40 , how is that ?

              a) actually, me & my friend both had passion+. he used castrol crb+. his clutch plates were gone in 8-10 months. where mine ran for say 4.5 years & done more than 45k kms.

              b) dont know abt other people using car oils. but i never take chances. a personal view though.
on this thread only, one member was using some car oil (i guess it was castrol crb only) in his rx100 / 135 (dont remember exactly). he did report some clutch slipping.

              c) really have no idea abt such oils. will try to find out though.

              • Thanks Saurabh , This is the exact kind of feedback i was wanting to know . So we have one confirmed case of castrol crb+ damaging the old HH splendor type engine . Anyone else ?
btw , worldwide shell Rotella T 15w40 and chevron delo 400 15w40 are very popular bike oils , and they'r specified for diesel engines only .

@Worrisomebear, if you wanna change the engine oil for your ZMR do give Mobil 1 10w40 (fully synthetic) a try..its good.

I have been using it in my ZMA. The engine revs freely now and even the gear shifts are super smooth.

nice bro.....is there a xW30 or xW40 oil in it? Might go in for it for my Zma. I saw motul 7100 10W40 and he was ready to give it for 650rs (MRP was 725rs). But by then i had already bought 2 cans of 300V 10W40 for my RTR.

I'll try for this oil else something in Gulf for the Zma!

It is marked as "By M/s Standard Greases & Specialities Pvt Ltd" and not Motul or anything else .. Can anyone tell me what the SL marking on it stands for ??
The HH 10W30 that came out was very foul and dirty and almost watery @ 1600Kms , no wonder the engine was heating up even in this winter . Maybe because the engine is new @2200kms .. I don't know ...
Update @ 100kms , this oil ( yamalube SL mineral 20w40 ) is working admirably , engine is smoother, sounds nicer ,morning starts quick and longish runs way cooler than the stock HH oil . I was bit apprehensive about changing from 10w30 to 20w40 now when the ambient temperature is below 20C all day here in Calcutta ,but I must say I am glad I did . Why does 20w40 work better than 10w30 even in winter here ? I shall keep updating about this oil as I run up the miles .
I will also suggest people to please keep updating their initial finds about each oils in this thread , as they clock up kilometers and also when and why they drain & replace it , and compare it to their previous and next oils , and please do mention your engine type . Then only this thread shall be useful to everyone . Any engine feels better on fresh oil , no ?

VSX is better than power 1 IMO.... but try out motul 5100T 15w50 as it would suit your bike best....
