Re: LS2 Vector(FF397) retails for 9000/- but on imported for 2200/- !!!
Thanks for the reply.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostMy advice would be stay away from LS2, many helmets are there in this range like MT Matrix, HJC TR-1, HJC-CL-17.
1. Why do you say that about LS2? I thought it was one of the good brands and moreover the LS2 vector(FF397) is a fiberglass shelled helmet (same as the MT Matrix).
2. I have another problem and that is with sizing. My head size is about 57cm and that translates to 'M' on the LS2 sizing scale. I had a chat with one of the dealers and he said that in India they imported only the 'L' size and this seems true as a majority of the websites only deal with 'L' size including Official LS2 Website
Oh, and for anyone who wants to check out the SHARP rating of their helmets click here. There is a very cool video about this too on youtube.
Edit -
My current thought process is similar to what the rider has laid out in the riderzone article.
And in this article, there is a story of a journalist who was fired for writing this article against the SNELL rating method.
Thanks.Last edited by zodiac; 02-04-2017, 12:26 PM.

The same dealer you quoted could not verify the genuineness of the LS2 he has got. Read the full thread on LS2 helmets on xbhp.Originally posted by zodiac View PostThanks for the reply.

True that. Replica of LS2 helmets are found many stores. And moreover it is really difficult to find that product is genuine or not ... If you are going for LS2 make sure you are getting a authentic product.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostThe same dealer you quoted could not verify the genuineness of the LS2 he has got. Helmet fits perfectly and also it is not too heavy.
Hey how much did you pay for it and how is the ventilation?Being best is not about beating everyone. It's about how much you learn from others and make yourself even better

Ok, Got it. So its basically that I might not get the real product.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostThe same dealer you quoted could not verify the genuineness of the LS2 he has got. Read the full thread on LS2 helmets on xbhp.
After the advises from you guys, and the bad STAR rating of the LS2 vector, I have now targeted the HJC CL-17(~9k), HJC IS-17(~15k) helmets.
But a bit more research tells me that IS-17/CL-17 are dot and snell approved (here).
Now for me snell=maximum of 275G's transfered to my head (here, and it is not good), but it also has a 5* sharp rating, so what does it mean now?
5* sharp rating, I assume, means that fatal G's are not transferred to my head but instead absorbed by the foam. But this is counter intuitive to the snell rating.
Help!!!
Edit-
Got the answer to the above. The sharp rating also sees 275g as its green zone (here).
Thus the helmet can be both snell and sharp approved.Green - Peak acceleration up to 275g: the ECE 22.05 test limit at 7.5 m/s.
Yellow - Peak acceleration up to 300g: the British Standard 6658:1985 test limit at 7.5 m/s used by SHARP as the maximum permitted value for a 5–Star rating.
So the HJC IS-17 would at most deliver 300g's to my head and I don't think that's good
, but its the best I can afford.
I bought it for Rs5890.Ventilation is good, just back from a 480kms ride. The top two vents at the front are enough for ventilation, had kept the vent at chin/mouth area closed.Originally posted by Mandar64 View PostGot SOL SL 68S II illusion black/silver(large size)from Moto101 Mumbai.

Re: Helmets
In terms of quality MT axxis is better,SOL's quality is ok(but this just from my first ride with it). Both are safe, just try both the helmets and find which one is comfortable for your head.MT axxis is not that good for touring, try MT blade cost around something 6k it is good for touring.I had tried both MT blade and SOL,SOL was a better fit for my head than MT Blade.Stability at high speeds,it was good stable at speed 120km/hr(didn't go above that speed)Originally posted by pratikthereddevil View PostMt Axxis or SOL unicorn ...in terms of quality, safety and stability ( at high speeds) pls revert wanted to buy oneDriving a Car is like watching a movie

Re: Helmets
Ask around how to get to Mohammed Mustafa stores (if you do not know) and from there this street/place is around 15-20 minutes walking. There are quite a few shops in the area which sell helmets and bike gear. One shop in particular sells only Arai. Ask around and people will guide you.Originally posted by deepak3565 View PostAny leads on getting Arai helmets from Singapore?
I picked up my Shoei X14 Marquez 4 from a shop called Chong Aik on the same street in September 2016.
Sorry, don't remember the street name or other shop names in the area.
Cheers

Re: Helmets
Looking to upgrade from my 3 year old Airoh Speed Joker. Im looking for a touring helmet since 90% of my motorcycle travel is over long distances. My budget is 20-25k. Can someone please tell me where can I find good helmets in that range in Mumbai? Im looking for the AGV K3 SV ideally, but Im open to other suggestions as well. I had the option to import an icon or something from the USA, but Im skeptical of the fitting thus decided to get locally.Regards,
