I have the Revenge and there is winf noise above 80-100 kmph. I generally use headphones (not connected to the phone) to help reduce the noise. Generally speaking, I'm not sure if there's any helmet which will give you little to no wind noise.

Also, how much does the twister cost? I'm not sure if revenge and twister are in the same price range.

Hey Sanjeet a fellow MT Revenge User here. I had a few queries, I have a MT Revenge Bioride which is more than a year old, when i ordered the product i was in touch with spg about getting the perfect helmet size as i was buying an helmet ONLINE for the first time. The helmet arrived it was a perfect snug fit. When riding with helmet on i didnt face a single problem but the problem is when i am at a standstill for more than 15-20 mins, i start get a tingly feels near my ear and later they start paining. I thought that i might not be accustomed to the helmet but after using the helmet for more than a year it is the same. Do you have faced similar problem. If so do you have a solution.
PS- I wear spectacles.

I am currently using 3 years old SPG Kranos Hornet helmet and its internal padding is showing its age. Kranos had served me well but i was always unhappy about the wind noise above 80kph. (these were noisier than my el cheapo Vega helmet. So noisy that i can't even hear a car honking directly behind me when travelling at 80-100kph.

Please suggest a lid that fulfills below mentioned requirements:

Must have:
Budget: 6.5k is sweet spot. can increase a bit if i am getting something that's worth spending extra.
Wind noise should be low as possible. Don't wish to use earplugs.
Safety as always. SHARP SNELL whatever safest helmet i can get in this budget.

Desirable:
Internal sun shade/goggles visor.

Get a HJC CLl17 for 9k, only SNELL rated helmet in that budget if I remember correctly.

Ps Sharp and Snell are just region specific tests, while they are helpful, they should not be factored as a major part while buying a helmet. They can also be cheated and are never full proof.

Also, helmets with inner sun visor are not safe and never pass SNELL testing.

My Budget fits the SMK but I kind of liked the Revenge for its light weight

How bad is the wind noise in the SMK? is wind noise lesser with the Revenge or almost same?

Long time no post. So I was looking to buy a daily use/touring full-face helmet within the Rs.7000 price point. Multiple weeks of research later, I zeroed in on the MT Thunder 3 SV. Did search on xBhp initially before purchasing for a review/overview but couldn't find any. Now that I have purchased it, thought I should put up one. So here it is.

Why the Thunder 3 SV?

4 Stars sharp rating which pretty much makes it worthy enough to buy just for that attribute.

Despite weighing 1500g, it felt surprisingly light on the head. I am used to wearing a much lighter Xlite X-802 and an HJC FG-17 for more than 2 years now but still didn't feel any discomfort.

Comes with an internal sun visor. This also happens to be the first lid I brought which has one. I was always of the apparition that the presence of the sunvisor compromises on safety but 4 stars here which is as much as my non-sun visor equipped FG-17

The graphics goddamn! MT does have some pretty out-there colour schemes but this matte black "Board" graphic really appealed to the Engineering nerd inside me. It depicts a drawing board conceptualizing the helmet's design elements. It certainly gives my more expensive helmets a run for the money in the appearance department.

Onward to the review. Spartan ProGear's showroom in Anna Salai, Chennai didn't have this in stock and they also mentioned that all the D-ring models in this range are going to be replaced with micrometric systems soon. So rushed home, logged into their website which luckily had it in stock in size S with the D-ring straps. I did check out the correct size in the showroom and it fit perfectly to my 56cm forehead circumference.

Ordered it on the 30th of July around 12 am and the helmet was delivered to me on the evening of 1st August. Prompt and timely delivery by SPG.

First let's talk about the packing. SPG did a wonderful job with it and I am sure you'd have to be really really unlucky to receive a damaged product with this kind of setup.

Received the package like this from Blue Dart. The small blemish in the middle got me slightly worried but I would figure this was a non issue later on.

No chemical anti-fog coating. The Thunder 3 SV comes with a pinlock system like almost all other MT helmets sold in India. Pinlock insert needs to be purchased separately.

Two inlet vents, one over the chin and on the top of your head. Simple two position toggle operation for fully open or fully closed. Observed a very minor defect on the chin vent which is slightly loose and doesn't seem to be shutting the vent completely in closed position. Hope it lasts the test of time.

Strangely, the rear passive vent also has an open and close mechanism. This feature is also present on the MT Revenge series.

DOT/ECE approved with the certification stickers under the base coat.

Visor has a three position operation. The first defogging detent seems a bit too much and kind of makes the much smaller second detent almost pointless. Then again I don't work in their R&D department so they must have had some reason for doing that. Third detent brings you to the fully opened position. Tried to remove the visor using the quick release system but it simply did not budge. Didn't want to risk breaking the mechanism so stopped trying to yank it out after a point. The small level under the visor release lock actuates the internal sun visor

Sun visor mechanism is smooth and easy to use on the go.

Inner lining is removable and washable as you'd expect and is decently plush for a helmet in this price range. Nowhere close to the HJC but again that's more than twice as expensive as this. Comfort over long rides remains to be seen.

Coming to the final part, the expenditure. It costs Rs.6250 with free shipping (which SPG offers for all addresses across India). Considering the price, this is indeed quite a lot of helmet for what you pay. Frankly speaking the fact that it's a Sharp 4-Star rated lid should itself seal the deal and the presence of that sun visor vastly expands its touring potential as well. Will be putting it to use almost daily starting tomorrow so hope it does its duty valiantly.

Great review buddy! I have the MT revenge helmet and personally love the helmet for the quality of inner linings.

I have removed the visor few times for a proper cleaning and you'll need to be a bit careful and see when the red color lock releases the visor.

The inner linings can also be removed easily to wash, but the chin curtain was an absolute pain to put back.

I hate the visor adjustment levels too. The 1st one blocks my view as the visor has a small bump due to the pinlock facility. I'm comparing this to my SOL Alpha SF5 where the visor has 5 levels and is a full unit and hence provides much better views.

The much older posts of MT matt helmets have complained that the color faded away after few months. Do keep us posted if they have now fixed it somehow.

Shiro SH881, SMK Force, twister, MT Mugello


SMK spares are cheap, easy to find, comes with free pinlock 30.

MT has double D ring closure, no free Pinlock, it costs ₹1750 to buy one, priciest spares.

I would pick Shiro out of these - Free pinlock 30, lightweight (1370 grams), and has better visor quality than SMK, well priced spares.

Hi Guys,
Might sound silly - replying to my own comment. BTW, got a new helmet. Again, an Vega product, with ISI mark from Helmet paradise. It is gloss finish with good graphics showing speedometer (similar range as Vega Cara). Weight of the helmet is 1370gms. My current helmet weigh is 1100gms. I am always wearing a small-medium size helmet. My head size is 550mm, so I need a small /medium as per manufacturer.
Pain point is that all the “real” helmets (safety approved, removable padding) the shop has in L size only. Most of them are 1500gms+-50gms.
Surprising that he is able to sell it to all customers (great forest where one size fits all).
Note: I stitch my cloths as far as possible, even in a place where sail boat looking shirts, over sized trousers are considered normal these days. It is surprising to know that most people are not particular about helmet size and buying helmets by looking at it less than they would examine vegetable.
Finally, got the Vega with 560mm size and was the best fitting of the lot. He told me to come again within couple of days if there is a problem.
First ride realized that I need little extra padding on top. So went there again to put some more foam on top of the head to fill it so that it won't come near eye brows.
So, I am the odd ball in that shop now (note that I have bought all my riding gear from that shop and even three helmets during last 5 years).
Again tried some other LS2 helmet, again L in size, but all could be padded to fit any shape!.
Now, shop keeper told me that I could go for LS2 . He also told me that since we both don’t have time, I have to decide now itself (his clever way of telling not to come there again!). I really didn’t want to buy a way too big helmet (his argument is that big bike needs big helmet!! .
After two days of ride, the helmet is OK, bit I guess needs little bit more padding on cheeks.
The helmet gives adequate noise cancellation and feels ok. But wind noise gets in by 70kmph itself.
I have to go for an upgrade soon. This time will try another shop, which will really sell S or M sized "real" helmets.

Sorry for replying for this old thread, but i am also looking for a 550mm size full face helmet with ISI mark.. I don't think we have ECE + ISI mark with anything. I heared Axor has one but which series i am not aware.
I really love Studds Shifter but that starts from 570mm, Infact no indian manufacturer is making good S size helmet when it comes to full face helmet, really disappointed. I found studds Chrome Elite series has S size but not ISI approved. infact for Indian people small size looks more optimum.

Can some one guide me to a full face helemt for S size (550mm) (atleast 2 shell, ventilation, and good cousioning) with ISI mark; as this will be used for City rides only on my R15s for traffic guy. My budget is 3000/-... For other rides i am using LS2 fits well, which i bought from Mumbai but here in HYDERABAD its difficult to find a good one, can someone guide me to good dealer. though my requirement is small.

I agree with above posts, that store managers just want to sell L and XL.. ideally they should aware users about perfect fit.

It won't help, if u have the proper gst bill and mrp label with you then only you can complaint to national consumer help line.

This is proof, you can complain now and also contact the preformance racing contact details mentioned on the box.
Chopra usually gives 5% discount , but here u paid over the mrp. Did you tried bargaining.
