Hemant told he will contact me as soon as the shipment arrives.

A container with new shipment of SOL Helmets arrived this afternoon in Chennai at the Spartan ProGear store - saw a new one - the SOL 68sII Metal Man Blue - awesome!

Stocks should be in resellers outlets by next week!

Btw I have tried to refrain from highway rides all these days. Haven't rode the bike to office yet precisely because of this. I am still commuting by suburban trains here. But yeah, the lure of a short errand or that aimless ride on the city roads have proved tooo difficult to avoid.
We have plans of buying a helmet for my usual pillion today. Planning to use it when riding solo, till I get my SOL.
Thanks for the advice though.I'll not to venture out too often without a lid for sure.
Dont get me wrong. Its great to see bikers investing in quality riding gear but having a fall, getting hurt and realising it wouldve been much better to have waited for your helmet is not a lesson you want to learn the hard way.

The circumstances are unfortunate in your case and hope you get your hands on your lid soon. Till then ride safe.

Excellent looking lid man. I use the SparX Hornet Special Edition and it's bloody noisy but fit and finish is amazing. I guess i'll buy a new lid sometime next year since the SparX is also my daily use helmet for office commutes.

P.S. The 200kmph test was performed in the Vento or on the ninja?

        Just kidding man.

I like the SOL Dragon better since it has more white, which will make it easier to spot you in the dark. Research indicates that White and Yellow are the best colors for a helmet since they are easily spotted, while Black, Grey etc, all blend into the backgrounds.

So in the interest of safety and of course looks, my suggestion is the SOL Dragon.

after using the helmet for over 3000kms i can say that i am totally in love with the helmet.few points i would like to mention about the helmet:-

-fit n finish of helmet is awesome(especially the quality of paint)
-very snug fit(this is the way i like it)
          -light weight
-very very less wind-noise(tested the helmet upto 200kmph)
          -stable at high-speeds
          &
          -killer graphics(atleast i feel so)
AWESOME lid! Which model and how much? Available at PRS?

I think the LEDs on the back of both the helmets will ensure that everyone will notice the rider in the dark.

vzuwOw - I say go for whichever design you feel fits you better since they both have the LED advantage. At the end of the day beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

My vote goes with the Unicorn. However, what Aditya mentioned about the yellow and white colour, should also be taken into consideration especially during night, but then since they have LEDs its ok to go with the Unicorn I think. All the best !

                Design-wise, I pick the Unicorn

You've got the Hornet?? I wanted that!! That was my choice but PRS is out of stock and new ones will take mnths to come. They had Kintaro and POW among the brighter ones, but I didn't prefer them
At what speeds is the lid noisy?

Right now, I have the option of going with the Airoh Speedfire Joker or wait for HJC or AGV...

When I went to Orion motors(Bangalore) couple of weeks before the Hornet model was available there. I was also waiting to get the same but bought "The Master" model when I got an offer that no one can't resist
The lid is noisy above 100/120 kmph. I think its noisy coz the two vents on top is always on position. No closing and opening equipment. But the noise is not very amplified one which makes your ears numb. You can easily live with it. As @Aditya said the fit and finish is too good to resist. Am a big fan of SparX S-07. The only thing which I bought the SOL(which is a nice helmet BTW) is cause the SparX is lil uncomfortable for those who wear spectacles/glasses. It is a snug fit which cause the legs of spectacles to touch the padding and at high speed even the sight vibes caused by the wind makes the glasses vibrate and loose proper focusing of the vision.

                  • well monsoon is almost here and now the question is what to do with the fog creation on the helmet visor ?
i heard of de-fogging spray .. does anyone uses it ? how much it costs ?

or any other methods to avoid it ?

i use LS2 cartoon which is gud one but it create more fog inside the visor in low speeds

                        • THE NeXX XR1R Diablo !

                          My New Helmet.

Well actually I've had it for about three months but wanted to really test it out before putting up a review.

Its the NEXX XR1R Diablo. A 100% Carbon-Fibre shell with a special leather finish thermal layer.

The 'naked' version of this helmet, the regular NeXX XR1R Carbon is rated as the lightest certified helmet in the world! Refer the link - Motorcycle Helmet Weights - webBikeWorld The Diablo, with its thermal covering is slightly heavier, but it's still incredibly light!

The Diablo has an additional thermal insulation layer over the carbon-fibre shell which helps keep the rider's head insulated from the elements. In hot weather its cooler and in cold weather its warmer - I scoffed at the claim first but after using it in Chennai's blazing summer heat, I'm a believer!

The Pros - well, I've used all kinds of helmets over 25 years, including top of the line Arai's and Shoei's and I will say without hesitation that this is my favourite! Scandalous I know, especially to the brand-conscious but you have to wear the thing to believe it - the helmet weighs nothing at all and after getting used to this kind of weight class - its difficult if not impossible to wear anything else - (maybe another carbon-fibre ) - but little else.

-YES - I've had helmets that were finished better (the build quality is top notch by the way) and
-YES I've had better ventilated helmets or even better looking, but the sheer weight issue tilts the balance so heavily in its favour that everything else is insignificant! (At least to me)

The helmet is made in Portugal by NEXX, a small niche player who is making strides in the upper segment now with their specialty products. The D -ring is standard as is the ECE & DOT certification since the helmet is sold both in Europe and in the USA. The liners are quick-drying CoolMax, removable and washable, and every helmet is shipped with a customisable ergo-padding system that allows you to customise the fit of your helmet with small bits of lining to get the snuggest fit possible.

The view-port is large - much bigger than other helmets and allows you a wide peripheral view. The helmet is also shipped with an anti-fogging PinLock visor, which I haven't yet used.

Despite its feather-weight, the helmet is extremely well-balanced and distributed so evenly that there is no deflection or bobbing even at speeds in excess of 200 kmph. Tuck your head in behind your windscreen at high speed and you can suddenly hear your engine screaming at the redline!

The leather finish outer covering material is surprisingly easy to clean, and has stood the tests of rains in Kerala and the burning sun of Tamil Nadu without any signs of aging. Since its has a dampening function and is slightly padded, it does a great job of noise insulation too and you're suddenly in a silent zone.

Other nice touches include reflective inserts all around that do a good job of announcing your presence in low-lights conditions.

CONS - I fitted a smoked visor which is the only disappointment in what has been an otherwise exhilarating owner-ship experience - the optical quality of the Rs.3500/- visor while very good is not equal to my budget SOL 68s whose brilliant optical quality can be had for just Rs700/-.

To sum up - it's not the funkiest helmet around, or the best I've ever tried but it is my favourite simply because its the most COMFORTABLE that I've ever used! Great build quality, excellent finish, attention to detail, and superb insulation and noise reduction, and to die-for weight! At 26k in India, its not cheap but definitely worth the money, considering that I've paid more for other helmets that weren't a patch on this one.

                          Cheers!
