Any DOT helmet is permitted on track.

There must be some import duty on helmets, I'm not sure better someone else clear this thing.

Correction - DOT helmets with D-ring fasteners are permitted, DOT with Ratchet locks are not permitted at all :/

I can say about BIC, Gr Noida, they need DOT/ ECE certiied helmets. D Ring is mandtory. Although most of the riders here have top of the line helmets.

Yeah, I was none the wiser a few months ago a helmet fastener was just that :P, but the D-ring is supposed to never come off, yet the ratchet allows for it to come of and over time as many users have said they get loose.

                • Guys what's the scene in Australia to buy a helmet?
My friend is in Sydney. He will be returning to India soon.
Is it economical and safer to buy there?
If possible can anyone recommend me a place or a website so that I can ship it there and tell him to bring it here for me. My budget is 10k INR.
It'd be great if he can visit a store there.
                  Please suggest.

Only D-rings are allowed on track. At least in Chennai. Recently we have also seen stewards allow only ECE/Snell, and not DOT, though that has not been consistent.

My friend is returning on 21st. Please let me know the practicality and the paisa vasool factor here.
He isn't carrying much luggage either. I think we can sneak in a good helmet. I just need to know if its cheaper and relaible sources which can ship in a day or two.

So I need some help in buying a helmet budget 7-10k

I have already owned and used Daijya, which fits my head perfectly but after almost 4 years is beginning to fall apart.

The Sparx S-07 that I have is light and brilliant for the track but the wind noise can get pretty bad at highway speeds even if you're using ear plugs.

The AGV got stolen at Kari and I cannot afford the budget or to go through the pain of buying a high end helmet and losing it.

I am a tourer primarily, a daily commuter and occasionally dabble in a trackday so I will need a helmet which is full face(not modular) and allows for decent ventilation but isn't too noisy. I have looked at the SOL helmets but I have got mixed reviews about them, I wasn't too happy about the thickness of the padding in them, I will need a little more feedback from those who have used and abused the SOL helmets.

The Airoh though nice doesn't seem to fit my head right, there is not sideways movement but it does tend to slide down, I tried the L since the M didn't get past my brow. Also has anyone used the MT or KYT helmets, how is the padding and build quality??

Looking forward to hear about your experience with these brands and also your advice.

MT helmets are a good choice, and provided excellent bang for the buck. KYT helmets perhaps people can chime in with their thoughts. I'd suggest you look for AGV from Performance Racing, not too much a pinch on the pocket. Secondly SOL is a good helmet, but the fit is basically a narrow sort of fit, and SOL wasn't hasn't been in my cards. MT helmets have good padding, the fit more or less goes ditto to SOL but once inside the helmet, the cheekpads offer good comfort and nice snug fit as opposed to SOL where I always felt my upper head was struggling with my lower head, fit wise.

Being owning the MT helmet, I can vouch for the fit, and quality is good for the price paid, especially the vent mechanisms, really good stuff.

I'd suggest you look for HJC/KBC at Performance Racing Store. Also do have a look at PlanetDSG where they have NOLAN and SUOMY helmets, KYT and sister brand Suomy,(stated by DSG in their website) so you can rest be assured these are mushroom companies into the business.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                          THE END

Thank you for the quick reply, I don't think I can stretch my budget to accommodate a Nolan but I think I can dig in a little deeper for a KYT replica.

Could you help me with a little more information on the MT

Model in use, duration of the ownership, and the fit. My main concern is the padding going too flat too soon. how is the wind noise.

Thie fit the finish, styles, ventilation, visor availability and shell styles are amazing.
I own 2 of them and can vouch for all of the above mentioned aspects.
What specific info would you like about them happy to help

How is the wind noise at speeds above 80kmph, would you need to wear ear plugs?
How is the padding, is it moisture wicking?
How is the sizing? Is it like Sparx where the shell sizes are similar but the paddding differs or is it like SOL where the shell sizes differ?
How is the fogging during the rainy/winter season?

Last of all is there any specific model I should be looking for or are all the shells the same?
