Yet Another Helmet Thread
I have a question which has dogged me for some time now.
how are the imported brands of helmets (LS2, MT, etc etc) which cost around double of indian good quality brands, (Vega, Studds, etc) better than the indian brands, to justify the 100 percent markup? even Vega has models which are DOT certified so that would make them good enough to save our coconuts in the event of a crash, right?
i ask because i currently own an ageing Vega Boolean(4 yrs old) , perfectly good otherwise, but the sponge has thinned down, causing it to shift at higher speeds.
i am looking for a replacement, but reading through the many many threads and posts has left me confused.
the Boolean introduced me to amenities like internal sun visor, and a movable chin guard, things that i would like to hang on to, when i go in for the next helmet. the only con is the weight, but i guess i am now quite used to it.
pointers anyone?

Re: Helmets
Hello,
So after going through tons of helmet brands and variants within my budget I have finally shortlisted two Helmets ( I just couldn't ignore the unicorn
that's why two ) :
1. SOL Hornet 2 ( White-blue-yellow )
2. SOL Unicorn 2 ( Blue )
and mercury/tinted visors .
Please let me know where I can get them in Delhi or get them shipped from your known dealer/online who can ship them to Delhi .
Thank you

Re: Yet Another Helmet Thread
I can vouch for MT, recently I was involved in a head on crash. The other guy was wearing a Vega helmet, not DOT certified, but got a fracture on his skull. I had no head/skull/face injury whatsoever. Choose your helmet wisely.Originally posted by Kos View PostI have a question which has dogged me for some time now.

Re: Yet Another Helmet Thread
but your experience, while scary, cannot be considered an objective evidence about the inferiority of the indian brand, thats all i'm saying. the impacts on the two helmets (yours and your friend's) could have been different.Originally posted by Abhijeet Bhattacharjee View PostI can vouch for MT, recently I was involved in a head on crash. Re: Helmets
As far as price goes & when it's about helmets my logic is simple. "decide a budget based on your riding requirements then add another 1k/2k/3k to it" that's your affordability. Coz your head is worth more or quite simply the affordability of your helmet is as much as your phone! so if you own a 30k phone, surely you can afford a 30k helmet coz the 30k phone will not replace you for your family.

Try Chawla helmets in Karol BAGH. They have a wide range of helmets.Originally posted by faster View PostHello,

Re: Yet Another Helmet Thread
I'd like to clarify that by 'other guy' I meant the other rider involved in the accident. I didn't mean to provide any evidence about inferiority of any brand, I only wanted to say that as per my experience I'd put my money on MT any day. Happy riding!Originally posted by Kos View Postbut your experience, while scary, cannot be considered an objective evidence about the inferiority of the indian brand, thats all i'm saying. the impacts on the two helmets (yours and your friend's) could have been different.
