I used this helmet for 2 yrs and this helmet is of no use other than posing. It might be safe , but to be frank Studds/Steelbird full face helmets fit snug and are lot better than this.

Actually I have a huge head, I bought a studds large helmet but that wouldn't fit my head, finally I decided to buy this offroad one as it has a longer jaw, also this is medium sized and its very tight and snug around my head, no funny wobbles.

P.S. I don't like the sun shade so I opened that up.

Probably OT, but amidst all the high profile helmet gossip, I wanted to share a little mod I did with some 3M tape and my imagination for night safety and visibility.

P.S I guess Vega is good enough for less than 90 kmph?

Using a 3M tape on helmet is a very good idea to increase visibility especially as the monsoons are arriving.

But Vega is not good enough for speeds < 90kmph at all. Speaking from my experience as I myself was using a Vega for ~ 4 years. Not very proud of it but the sole reason I bought it back then was due to looks. Some time and lots of maturity later, I understood how unsafe a generic Vega helmet actually is.

One suggestion to all my friends here: Even if you don't want to buy a high end helmet, PLEASE go to a good shop and TRY OUT a proper helmet. You will know instantaneously the reason why these helmets are so expensive...

Thanks for the info, I have been for some time looking at an LS2 helmet on Amazon, it even has a reflective material on it, I guess its a viable option for safety?

LS2 helmets are quite good, but you need to make sure they are not fake. I avoided LS2 just because I wasn't sure about the authenticity. There is a thread here dedicated to this topic.

I try not to purchase my gears online because of the fit issue. I go to the stores and try them on before buying to ensure they fit me perfectly.

i personally agree with you. fitting is the prime thing when you are looking for a helmet.
but then there are few guys who don't have availability of good helmets in their city or anywhere near them. so it becomes difficult to get your hands on one.

in my city the best you can get is studds or vega. so even i am planning to buy a helmet but confused about it.

Matt black is very pron to catch scratch and oil spots. I have used reflective stickers to go with the colour tone. It looks great.

but really awesome what you did with your helmet! I am sure it is catching a lot of eyes....please share the link if you have purchased it...and any idea about mirror visor or tinted visor for the same because the stock visor is detachable...probably so that we can clean it properly but what about a different visor?

Thank you and no this is normal reflective sticker (go for good QUALITY) available in every shop where they make number plates, glow sign etc. Just ask them. The product you mentioned is long tape type. If you create letters with it, FINISHING will be compromised. Enquiry any sticker shop and give them your IDEA & they will cut it for you. Application is very simple. Try youtube, searching "decile & how to cut stickers & apply".

No extra visor found but searched every possible way & failed. But I find the stock visors are GOOD. I NEVER wipe clean it with cloth if there is dust on it. I just remove the visor & take it under tap water to clean (use mild shampoo, if needed), so the visor don't attract any scratch. I also do the same to by glasses 👓 & all are HAPPY. 😜 😝

I have a MT Blade small helmet (Actually medium size with size small cheek pads; shell size is same for small and medium as per seller I bought from).

Fit is tight, for eg if I move my jaw even by slight then the helmet starts to move too.

But the issue I face is that the helmet tends to sway sideways (not by much but its distracting) when there are gusts of wind. It doesn't happen throughout the ride but only when there are sudden gusts of winds.

Also when going over very rough patches of road, the helmet moves slightly. This can be replicated by running down a staircase with the helmet on, although while riding the helmet won't shake as much.

So is the fit loose or are such minor helmet movements expected? The helmet doesn't try to lift off though, ie no pressure noticed on chin straps, just side sway felt on cheek pad and can feel visor move with reference to road.

The fit is actually loose for you. A helmet shouldn't move if you move your jaw or run down a flight of stairs.
I have MT Blade, size M, it doesn't move at all.

I am considering getting a helmet for my official commutes. 40% city and 60% highway. I am restricted to a strict sub-4k budget.
The options I am considering are :-
1) SPG Kranos range
2) KYT RC7
3) Studds Shifter
4) THH Helmets

Any recommendations as regards which helmet would be the best all rounder in terms of all-weather use, comfort, ventilation, protection and durability? Also, I prefer a helmet whose visors can be procured with ease to be replaced when scratched!

which one you opted for?
i have similar options under consideration.

I just got a replacement for my summer helmet Studds Marshall. Thought of trying a different brand and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and response from Steelbird company. Do check out the site guys. They even stock small spares. The higher versions around 2K seem really promising for highway usage too.

Guys it's really irritating to know that LS2 has fake and genuine issues even with the authorized LS2 outlets, so please suggest some other modular helmets similar to LS2 FF386.

Dont risk your life on the hinge of a modular helmet, invest in full face...always
