I'm really not sure if I should get an MT or look for something else.

I also own a same mt blade helmet and even I've been in a crash while the helmet was on. The accident was bad to the extent that i was about to get crushed by a car. My whole body suffered injuries, except the head! Not even minor headache because of the force of impact. I obviously replaced the helmet immediately(I don't believe a helmet is safe for riding once it is involved in a crash). And i bought the same helmet as a replacement(it clearly saves lives). I think the strap was either too loose or the fit wasn't right! I personally think that if your budget for helmet is around 5-7k, MT helmets are a really good deal!

Disclaimer: I am no expert,but here are my observations from the above video.its not whether u buy MT or a local isi helmet.Any wrong fitted helmet won't solve the purpose its meant for.
1)the helmet buckle strap must not have been tied tight enough,as when the impact happened the helmet was pushed upwards.
2) the helmet size could have been over sized so as there was a gap between the head and the helmet so as when the impact happened the head banged against the upper part of the helmet.

Yes, might be the helmet was loose fit or the strap was not properly fastened due to which it moved from its place and injured the rider's head. What other options we have around the 10k range? The imported HJC, Bell, Shark helmet retails for 40-60% cheaper abroad and I doubt how good they are compared to MT.

Few of my pointers after watching the video.

• The helmet should not be loose from forehead and chin/jaw area, so if the inner shell did that, that clearly showed the helmet was "oversized".
• The D ring never comes out, trust me on this until the button is not clicked properly, so again the question is , was the d ring properly tightened?
• As per Infoclone padding should be hard, which will eventually make the face/head hit harder object. #riplogic. Also its the shell that should be focussed upon, not the padding.
• Lastly, tailgating in itself is wrong practice, specially when our roads have unseen brake usage , over that he sped up from start.

So my question is , is it "really" the helmet that should be questioned?

P.S : I am not associated with any brand, also I dont even own MT helmet (as of now)

Purchased MT Revenge, Bikeopedia delivered in one day, haven't tried but feels little bit lighter than MT Blade

I am looking forward to get the same unit in same design. How is the helmet & which helmet were you using earlier?

Helmet is good, nice snug fit. It's lighter than my MT blade which I was using earlier.

True all of the above points. The fit is of utmost importance and what feels a proper fit to you might not be so in reality.
I have purchased a new helmet and for a few days, wearing it for more than an hour resulted in jaw pain, that's how snug it should be. Now that it's broken in there's no pain.
Also the helmet should never be putting pressure on your forehead. If that's the case then either it's too tight or you need to get a different shaped helmet.

Also, as he was saying about the padding, I have commented on the video also, it's not the padding but the EPS liner that takes the impact of the collision. Padding is to provide cushioning and obvious will have to soft.

Bashing a brand just to garner views is not correct. I'm not associated to MT in any way, neither do I use an MT helmet anymore.

I have shortlisted the Studds Scorpion D3 Full face helmet and the Steelbird SBA-1 Free Live. Which one do you think would be a better buy? You can also recommend any other helmet.

Hey friends,
Any inputs on using car window tint film(clear) as scratch proof layer in helmet visors ?

This could be a great solution, if it does not affect the clarity and visibility, which it probably should not.

Hi and welcome,

They are pretty good in that price range and offer useful features like ventilation, removable liners, various decals and quick-release strap and visors. The only issue in my opinion could be the lack of any other certification like DOT or ECE.

Any other alternative in the price range would be THH.

Hello everyone.,
I am new here, this being just my second post. I am looking for a helmet for myself as I have just taken a Dominar and have started going to my workplace on bike instead of a car.

My work place is just 4-5 kilometers and is a 10 - 12 min ride one side. Occasional Highway rides. Even after going through various pages of this thread I am still confused about the helmet choice. Budget is not a constraint but I want to buy something which is VFM, with easily available online spares, as I live in a city where there is not a single shop which keeps GOOD helmets.

I am planning to buy one from Bangalore as I am about to go there in a two days.

Is there any single shop in Bangalore which keeps helmets of all major companies, so that I can try all first before I finalize?

Any sort of help is appreciated.

Can someone suggest me some helmets to consider under 10k? I like the MT Matrix and Revenge. MT Kre also looks good but not sure if I should pick one with internal visor or not. Any other suggestions? I'm on my way to book duke 390 and might pick one helmet after booking the bike.

Both are very good. Internal visor is a subject of personal preferences.

Another key thing to note is that the Revenge and the Matrix have a 5star Sharp ratings whereas the Kre does not.

Tried both and the Matrix feels comfy. They shell size of the Matrix is huge compared to Revenge and it looks a bit bulky. I liked the matte orange Matrix. Will pick up the Matrix a day before bike delivery as the guy told me that I can replace it if there is an issue in first 3-4 days which I'm not going to encounter if I don't use it.

Also inquired about HJC helmets at two stores and both said the same thing that they used to sell it, but now they have stopped selling it due to the availability and price of spares.

I feel the inner lining of studds shifter series is much better than Vega free live series. But the shifter series is not available in M size anywhere. I myself picked up SMK matt black from Abhishek Automobile ( distributor of studds helmets, Bangalore). Got at a good price

I Have Worn An LS2 Full Face Helmet In The Past On My Pulsar200NS,It Weights Too Much And I Dont Like A Full Face Helmet As It Blocks The View.


Can Someone Please Suggest A Preferably Light Open Face Helmet With Shield?
