Sird bhai,
Given the fact that it is helmet and that too a decent one, I personally would not gamble on the authenticity of it by purchasing it from online store.
I would personally suggest your friend to save the discount offer for something else and visit a helmet shop and get a genuine one.

Re: Helmets
Its the same helmet with the same shell. The older shell had ISI just for the sake of Indian laws, it was still sold in markets like USA with a DOT certification. I am talking about the Scorpion and Shifter series specifically.Originally posted by deep97raj View PostThe one i used to own was ISI certified.

Re: Helmets
Hi Guys,
I came to this thread to seek information about tips to chose a helmet- mainly for touring purpose.
I was looking for a check list which could be used to narrow down the search
and also used as reference list.
Attempts to locate the motorcycle helmet checklist did nt yield any results.
Are you guys aware of any list, if yes please provide the link.
if no, i am willing to start a checklist, please include any features or factors so it could
be an exhaustive list
Cheers,

Re: Helmets
Read about the Blade's internal visor issue elsewhere. Seems that you will have to remove the visor, and then the ratchet mechanism for the visor using a screwdriver. Then you would have access to a brass screw, tightening which will solve your issue (albeit temporarily) as this will keep recurring - a design flaw I presume.Originally posted by Mail2vasant View PostHi Guys.
I am using MT blade sv helmet. The problem that i am facing with it is that the internal dropdown visor has become loose. And it drop downs on a small jerk also at night. How can i tighten it??

Re: Helmets
yes i did exactly like this. Firstly i removed the visor and the rachet mechanism on the left. You will see 2 screws inside which we need to tighten very carefully and slowly.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostRead about the Blade's internal visor issue elsewhere. Re: Helmets
Hello guys,
so i am planning to invest in a good helmet with budget of 5K, after reading numerous pages on this thread and elsewhere, one thing is very clear at every price point there a very good helmet available and also bit better option with some more stretch of budget and this cycle does not end, ever!
so i don't plan to push my budget beyond 5K.
So following is a kind of broad Brand to Price grid for the helmet available in India:
below 2.5k: Vega, Studds, Steelbird,
Between 2.5 k to 5 k: LS2, SMK, AXOR, HTT, Zeus
Above 5K: MT (multiple models within
), SOL, AGV, etc.
After a long and thorough research following are the things i feel should be part of anyone's checklist to choose:
Padding - enough on top and cheeks
Visor - single or multiple - also has to be comfortable with spectacles also
Safety rating and certification - ISI, ECE and DOT (atleast 2 of the 3 should be there)
Existing owner feedback - From threads, friends and window shopping should be done
Wind noise - a bit of individual preference here, too silent and you might not here horns from passing vehicles and your own engine sound vs too loud and you will not enjoy the ride
Ventilation: necessary but make sure it does end up being shower for rainy seasons
Touch and feel - Dont be a lazy bumm in this and buy online, go to a shop try different options and see which feels and fits perfect for you
Just by my research i have been able to make my mind for SMK or LS2 (if i am able get OEM product)
Will soon post which one i finally buy.
Ride safe.Last edited by HarshalVora; 04-26-2017, 01:14 PM. Reason: wanted only one post to get my message out

For me - Studds Shifter is current favourite. Why ?.Originally posted by HarshalVora View PostHello guys,

1-Padding - Damn good padding equivalent to LS2, infact I feel it a notch better. Although MThelmets have the best padding under 5k imo.
2- Visor - Comes with ratchet mechanism visor, tinted, clear or mirror is your choice. Parts are easily available and has a sunglass too inside which is tinted and UV safe. Visors are distortion free, same like MT Blade or MT Mugello.
3- Safety rating - DOT, ECE dual certified for 2017 models if you can get them. Else the shell has a ISI mark according to Indian laws, but the same shell is sold with DOT/ECE elsewhere in the world too.
4- Feedback - Go through the thread ! Many people love Shifter and Scorpion from Studds for being among the best helmets at fit and finish, also at safety. Saved quite a couple of riders even in 100kmph crashes (though he had a dizzy feeling for a minute ofcourse 😆
5- Wind noise - Negligible once you drop down the visor, even if all air ports are open, perfectly balanced. Same case with MT Mugello.
6- Ventilation - Has multiple intake and out ports for air which you can open even while wearing gloves. Can be closed in case of rains.
7- Touch and Feel - Similar as the costlier helmets like LS2 or MTBlade. No problems here either.
Also, the 2017 model retails at 5000-5500 so its a bit costlier compared to the MT Mugello as such. You can find the 2016 model still at retail and buy it for 2000-2500. Its the same piece with ISI mark. If you can't find the 2016 model, MT Mugello is a good pick. Comes with many features from MT Blade and is dual DOT/ECE certified. Cheers mate !

Re: Helmets
Considering the price point and vfm.. shifter any day over vega steelbird or even axor. I must say Price range of approx 2k doesn't justifies what shifter offers. Its a real good deal at that price for a daily use. And best thing is availability and price of spare parts which is another issue in many cities.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostFor me - Studds Shifter is current favourite. Why ?.

I did a lot of research last year before settling for shifter and even went to try kranos axor and MT axxis
Obviously MT axxis was best of the lot but due to availability and cheek pad issues and considering the vfm aspect i didn't go for it.
Kranos was not fitting me well and somehow i wasn't feeling good in it.
Axor had good padding and best comfort levels among them but the shell felt very plasticky as i could easily press it to cosiderable extent using my hands
When i tried same thing on shifter i was surprised by the toughness of its shell and another thing was instant availability of Mercury visor which i got for just rs 250 approx..
FYI Smk helmets are quite good and the company behind it is studds only.
So if you want Something better ..give it a try.
LS2 only if you are sure that you aren't going to get a replicaBurn the rubber, they said
it would be fun, they said

But if I understand this correctly Studds is selling the same unit of 2016 for around 2.5K and 2017 model for 2x (5k) only bcoz they have managed to get Dot, ece certication on three hardware.
Isn't it highly over priced when practically you are getting the same stuff which they were selling at half price last year..

Yes I feel the 2k17 edition is highly overpriced compared to the 2k16 edition of Shifter. But once you compare it to other helmets, its still a VFM at 5k.Originally posted by HarshalVora View PostThanks, so the shifter is also an option to try out.

Not sure of the others but as an ls2 helmet user, I'm pretty much satisfied with the helmet.Originally posted by HarshalVora View PostHello guys,

I bought mine in streetflames near Hanuman temple, Hyderabad. For about 4.1k. good deal i'd say. Mine is the tron black rookie version and a friend of mine bought the same one with a different colour. But anyway, we both had an accident recently. And the helmets were very good. Didn't feel anything. We crashed at around 50kmph. And nothing happened to us nor the helmets. The paint is fine too. No scratches even. So I'm actually not very sure if we crashed safely or the helmets are very good, but I'm more inclined to thinking the later.
A bit of an issue i had was, the visor came loose. But it was fine i could tighten it with a bit of struggle.
Consider ls2.
Cheers.

Re: Helmets
Picked up the MT Revenge ArrowTip Gloss Helmet (Black & Yellow) from Moto 101, Bangalore minutes before taking delivery of my Duke 390. I wanted MT Matrix, but due to it's huge shell size and boring matt color scheme, had to settle with the Revenge. I wear spectacles and I have no issue with this helmet in this regard. Later, I will update about wind noise and ventilation after using it for a few more kilometers.
