Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
No, it does not cause any problems. And afaik it causes problems only on Revenge, Targo of earlier days, the problem might have been rectified now, since friends who recently picked Revenge do not have such issues.Originally posted by Biswajeet Patra View Post

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I had the spoken to the owner of Orionmotors 1year back who are popular riding gear dealer in Bangalore, he told me that buy whichever helmet you want even by spending 30K, windnoise cannot be avoided 100% above 100-120kmph, just that it can dampened by a bit say 50% by having a better design vents and padding which fit more snugly.Originally posted by vnsk View PostMaybe someone can recommend me a helmet which has very less windnoise

You cannot use the regular international standard Pinlock(which is big helmet standard) available which every other helmet brand refers to with their helmets.
MT should have market their helmets saying "Anti-fog insert ready" instead of marketing it as "Pinlock insert ready"

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I agree about the padding part, but in terms of wind noise I found Mugello much better than Revenge.Originally posted by kiran2508 View PostI've spent some 500kms+ all together on the MT Revenge, Blade(now the Axor Stealth), Mugello and Thunder helmets.
Mugello is not at all a bad helmet, but when compared Revenge and Thunder, Mugello is bare bones, the Thunder has padding which is much more premium quality, both to touch and feel, Thunder feels more weighted and solid to to hold and wear (which give more confidence in the helmet personally).
Also I kept pulling the Mugello down couple of time kind of felt it was falling short to cover my chin completely and chin was hanging out, but had no such problem on the Thunder, it completely covered my chin and there was no pulling down again and again.
Wind noise is a bit problem in Mugello when compared to any other since its the entry model MT helmet, there is a mesh hole in the front left and right side which cannot be closed atall inthe Mugello, which causes hauling at speeds. Finally Thunder has a tinted sun visor which can be helpful for touring and city rides if you are into that sort of thing
Take a look at the paddings side by side yourself, compare both pics and the quality.
At the end of the day choice is all based on the individual, compare them side by side and choose the one that you like which fits your need.
Happy riding
Thunder3 is a sweet balance.
And as stated above, found the design flaw in Revenge as well as Targo helmet from MT.
Agv K1 finish didn't seem very good to me, the paint quality is what I mean. Check the ScorpionEXO at950 and 710air in the same price bracket.Originally posted by vnsk View PostMaybe someone can recommend me a helmet which has very less windnoise. I dont mind spending around 12 to 14k...The best option seems to be the AGV K1 which starts around there....If anyone is using it here, I would like a feedback.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I and my wife have been using riding pants for about 7 months now. While its very comfortable I need to replace the knee armours supplied along as its an unbranded one. I picked up the pants from www.caferacer.co.in. I use these only now for sunday rides and use the Alpinestar ramjet air for long distance. Check it out in their site, I bought them because they had a sale going on a few months backOriginally posted by _andy_ View PostHi all,
Does anyone have any experience using riding jeans? Indian and/or American/European brands? How good are they safety-wise (if anyone has had the misfortune of crashing in them), and comfort-wise in warmer climates such as India's?
Cheers!

I wouldnt recommend the MT Revenge. I have been using it from March and have covered about 5k in it. In excess of 70/80 km the wind noise is so much it gives you a headache and now I use earplugs. The second issue is when I tried to get a pinlock visor for it. Crazily it has the pinlock provision but a pinlock cannot be attached due to a design flaw ! ! When you open the visor, the top part of the visor actually rubs against the rubber beading of the helmet ! ! ! How did they even design a helmet like this? So if you put a pinlock visor either it will break off or you cannot open the visor.
Maybe someone can recommend me a helmet which has very less windnoise. I dont mind spending around 12 to 14k...The best option seems to be the AGV K1 which starts around there....If anyone is using it here, I would like a feedback.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Why not mugello? I wore that a couple of times and found it comfortable also I've heard a lot of good things about it. What's your reasoning for not choosing that?Originally posted by kiran2508 View Post•Budget for helmet- 5k (can stretch upto 7k)
SOL SL68s ii, SMK, MT all range, AXOR Stealth(MT Blade replica) all have good spares and build, better to go with SOL (6.5K) if you are okay with bit heavy helmet or for lighter helmet go for MT THUNDER3 SV(6.2K) or Targo don't go for Mugello. LS2 new range is also very good, if you are okay with wearing a helmet that majority of people wear. Stay away from imported HJC CS15 helmets.
•Budget for jacket: 6k (can stretch upto 10k)
RYNOX TORNADO PRO V2 L2. (8k)
•Budget for gloves: 3k
ASPIDA POSEIDON or BBG or DSG all have waterproof range at (3K)
•Budget for knee protectors: 2k
CRAMSTER DRIFTER PRO or BBG Knee and Shin Gaurds (Both look exactly same) (2-2.2K)
I met a guy who is a authorised solace dealer and he said he had the tornado and it is a terrible jacket in terms of quality and protection both. He showed me the solace furious and was convincing me to to go for that but that's 11k and wayyy beyond my budget. I tried the nemesis l2, tornado, Helios, and furious. I liked how nemesis and furious felt. The nemesis was heavy but the armors felt comfortable and covered my shoulders and elbows properly. The furious shoulder armor felt a little lacking. The quality however was a bit better on the furious.
I tried solace full gauntlets for summer and they felt nice but they can't be used as standalone gloves without the jacket. But man are they comfortable

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I can never think of recording anything even for few hours with my 5s, though ios is the far stable then competition but even it has a tendency to shut down an app without any prior notice if it is unresponsive. I suggest you to use iphone for google maps as a very stable GPS unit and use a dedicated action camera (cheapest one costs as low as 1500) to keep recording upto SD card limits with GPS data (lat and long) as OSD. These cameras are made for the purpose for which you are asking.Originally posted by lokesh soni View PostHi there,
Can anyone suggest some good GPS based mobile apps for iphones which can be used for recording long bike and car trips (min 10 days) in a single record without any fuss (mobile hanging and all)?

Thanks for the suggestions.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View Post1- Helmet is as good as it gets for the price, try to buy a Pinlock insert with it, would cost you 1450/- but makes a world of difference during rains and winters.
2- Buy Raida Tourbine / Rynox T pro - both come with known level 2 protectors and a full size winter liner. Raida will be lighter than Rynox, both are level 2. Buy a back protector with it. (would cost you 1650 to 2150, both the jackets do not come with a good back protector, just a foam pad). Also you can wait for new jackets coming up, many have been showcased at Rider Mania Goa. (I expect January launches, will try to ask brands)
3- Waterproof gloves would be very uncomfortable in summers. I would recommend buying two pairs from the money you save from helmet and jacket.
* Leather gloves - Solace Bravo v2 is the most VFM and latest launch. ₹3200 for full gauntlets.
*Winter/rain gloves - Raida RainX or Solace Striker both are good and newly launched/updated.
4- Knee protectors are very restrictive and uncomfortable in my opinion. Buy a Scoyco K12 / Solace Pace knee guard for the time being and start saving for a riding pant. (both are different type of knee guards)
5- Mobile holder - RAM mount is trusty, others are finicky. Copies of RAM mount are available everywhere, do buy it with a good quality tether (rubber elastic).
6- Not much idea about paint protection available at your place.
I'll try each of them before choosing.
Edit: The app was acting up and gave me an error or not being able to post and to contact the forum administrator. I tried thrice and it posted thrice.
Can the other two be deleted please, I'm not sure I can.Last edited by Purnakalik; 01-11-2019, 08:30 PM.
