Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

    Hi Guys,

Needed some information on Chrome/Mercury visors for SMK helmets.
I have the below helmet. The SMK MA271 Twister.

From where I can source this visors and hows the day/night visibility with the same. I know the night visibility will be hit, but by how much.

    Thank you.

If you want a knee guard that doesn't scratch tank, buy tube types like Solace Axis and Pace knee guards. They also have lesser chances of slippage.

No need to change if it works well for you.

Depends on your brand perception actually, I would personally stick to known ones, but then, that's my perception.
    Thanks.

Also, do you think the current back protector provided needs to change? I had asked for certification for that, it seems to be L2 certified by ricotest lab in Italy.

Are powertector protectors better? I got it confirmed they would directly fit.

2- SAStec and Powertector both should fit, if not, just trim the sastec protector, yes, it can be trimmed to size, although you lose warranty, but I don't feel these protectors fail.

3- Cramster or Solace bionic, both are fine and do the job, also check Cramster Drifter Pro and Mototech bulwark if not upgrading to pants soon. Pants are much more comfortable.

    Goodluck.

1)Helmet - Currently have open face helmet, never tried full face, too tight and I am used to bigger vision. Please suggest a full face helmet having a bigger vision and a little light on head. Considering smk hybrid evo, but it's out of stock everywhere. Do let me know the reviews of that, or suggest another one. Budget around 6k.

    2) Jacket - I have already bought rynox storm evo L2. It comes with a CC L2 back gear along with knox armours. Should I be getting the back armour changed to a Power Tech one or SasTec(would sastec fit? Rynox support isn't confirming).

3)Knee Caps - As mainly being used for daily commute, I am thinking of cramster bionic, but please suggest better ones if need be (Scoyco?)

I have been using the old one (aka the current one) and it's a very good jacket, well sorted and the protectors are big too, especially the chest and back protectors have very good coverage and ventilation.

Hope I helped. Goodluck on your purchase.
    Thanks for the suggestion.
I think I'd rather wait than have buyers remorse.
The newer ones and the stealth evo would be vary alike in terms of looks* with very similar color accents. From what he say he said there won't be any changes besides the color; solace says otherwise. I'll wait. Let's see when the jackets clear the customs and are made available. Solace says 1 week; dealer says 4.

I asked them explicitly and they said they'll discontinue the older models when the new ones come out. The ones that might remain would be the last of the old stock.

I recommend this jacket as it comes with Level 2 protectors that are authentic. There are alot of new brands offering products 100-200 price lesser but the protectors they use by brands like 'winner', 'SW' are recognised or reputed brands, especially if you know the sources.

In that price point its a very good buy. Hope this helps you with your decision.

Yes. Back protectors can be replaced. You can check for Powertector back protector that is sold on Rynox's website which is compatible with the Air GT. Similarly you can also opt for powertector shoulder and Elbow, if you want to. However the Air GT already comes equipped with level 2 protectors, so you can simply change the back protector.

Please go for protectors from reputed brands only- Safetech, powertector, sastec, etc.
Thanks for your input. Will definitely get that jacket.

And it's direct competitors are the Aspida Odysseus and the Stealth Evo v3 which are 11250 and 11500 respectively so I expect the price to be hopefully below that or at least match that. Would it be worth waiting for the new one? Or does it make sense getting the old one?
