Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I will be buying a preowned 650-900cc class bike soon and want to upgrade my current riding gear. I need:
1. Riding jacket : Safety is priority, best armors all around (back, shoulder, elbow and chest), good fabric for abrasion resistance. Budget is around 8000. Strictly below 9000.
2. Riding Gloves: Safety, comfort (grip) is priority. Budget around 2.5-3k
3. Boots: Ankle twist protection and should protect incase bike falls off on my leg. Excellent road grip to handle heavy weight of bikes. Budget: ideally around 9000. but can increase to 12-13k
Will buy pants later. But right now i have a total budget of 20-22k for all 3. (helmet budget is taking huge chunk off my 40k budget). I cannot increase my budget, If i cannot find a good option in my budget, either i will have to compromise to cheaper alternative or postpone my purchase till next year.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Need some insights from fellow Bhpians urgently. I'll be starting my Sikkim ride day after tomorrow, and I planned to carry my magnetic tank bang(A Solace Xtreme Magnetic Tank Bag) with me as a hand baggage on the flight to Bagdogra. I read on a few forums that the magnetic bag will create trouble during security checks and might not be allowed to be carried as a hand baggage, and in some cases, as a checked in baggage as well.
Has any of you carried such bags as either a hand or checked in baggage before, and, if yes, did you face any trouble during the security checks? I plan to keep my camera and other electronic/riding essentials in this bag during my ride. If there is indeed an issue in carrying such bags on board, I'll have to look for alternate arrangements.

They are Yellow / black / blue / green. Just read the branding on protectors, it says SAS-TEC.Originally posted by Syntax23 View PostIf it's Sas-tec, I believe they are black in color.

They have a life of 5 years (optimal) and max of 7-10 years.Originally posted by Syntax23 View PostDo protectors deteriorate over time? Even when they are in storage?

Thanks,Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostIt used to ship with Sastec Level 2 protectors, times have changed now and Aspida went unbranded on all jacket protectors, not worth buying anymore. Check brands like Rynox, Solace, Raida that ship with known protection.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I bought them in January 19 and rode it to Karnataka from Mumbai. It was broken in but I still faced the uncomfortable fit all through its use.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostWas it a new pair of gloves or have you worn it for few Kms earlier? My new gloves as well were on the stiffer side but gradually broke in and now fit perfectly.

I completed 2100kms in 53hrs with the gauntlets worn only during the day so about 20-25hrs in total and the only body part that's still paining are my fingers. They offer good protection no doubt but I don't think they're worth the hassle and pain. Stick to short cuff gloves.

Ouch, that doesn't seem like a very pleasant experience.Originally posted by Purnakalik View PostI had the solace bravo v2 full gauntlets and I rode it on my ride from Mumbai to Calcutta on 11th may 2019. Although, it does seem like a glove specific issue, as the gauntlet aspect should not affect the comfort at the fingers, as far as I know.
Can anyone comment on gauntlet gloves with external stitching on the fingers?
I hear they are supposed to be more comfortable.
