He is totally wrong, the jacket gets a level 2 back protector too. He might have showed you Air GT2 rather than 3 I feel. Typical way to make sales of something that is not selling well and clear stock. Don't fall for it, look for other dealers.

And as I said, please check that the protectors are from a reliable brand. Even if we assume that he removed the back protector, it would be a better buy than the other name you mentioned, since high quality protectors don't come cheap, and that's all you actually invest into when you buy gear from an Indian brand.

Anyways, look for a different shop. Goodluck.

Yes, I think is he was showing me Air GT2. The shop is pretty busy and he was attending to many customers, may be he got confused.

I bought SMK Twister for 4,100 at shop next to Motonation Lal Bagh road, Bangalore. I also checked out Rynox Ait GT3 jacket at Adeshwars Ryder's arena Lal Bagh road Bangalore and was told by the sales guy that it comes with CE level 2 armor only for the shoulder and elbow but not for the back. According to the Rynox website, it does comes with level-2 protector from Safe-tech. According to that sales guy only Moto Torque resistor comes with CE level 2 protectors for all shoulder, elbow and back in the same price range (~6000).

Helmet - SMK Stellar is the best under 4k imho.
Jackets - Check only trustworthy brands that use known protectors from global manufacturers, your options are MotoTech, Rynox, Solace, Raida in Indian brands.

Looking at current market - Raida doesn't have any thing under or around 6k, MotoTech and Solace have CE level 1, I'd highly recommend Rynox Air GT3. It also gets a proper CE level 2 back protector.

Please help me choose my first riding jacket and a good helmet with a total budget of 10k. I was thinking of a riding jacket at 6k and a helmet at 4k would fit my budget. I have looked at some riding jacket brands such as Spartan, Rynox, Biking brotherhood, Moto Torque.

Helmet - SMK Stellar is the best under 4k imho.
Jackets - Check only trustworthy brands that use known protectors from global manufacturers, your options are MotoTech, Rynox, Solace, Raida in Indian brands.

Used to be good with Sastec protectors in past, right now it's kind of not of my taste. XY protectors, while they may be good, I won't spend 8k on same. Probably at 6500-6800 it would have been great.

Under this budget, your best bet is Raida Tourbine, comes with Sastec L2 protectors on arms, you will have to buy a CE approved back protector later, comes with chest protector pockets too. Both back and chest come with foam protectors from factory. Costs ₹7500. This is what I have been using with added back protector. All protectors Sastec.

If you can, I would recommend increasing your budget a little.

Take a look at Rynox Tornado 3 and Solace Sabre.

Both get Ce level 2 protectors on arms and back. While Rynox uses Knox on arms and Safetech on back, Solace goes with Powertector at both arms and back.

It's all a give or take decision, while Rynox has better elbow and shoulder protectors, Solace has 1000D cordura at elbows and shoulders. You can't go wrong with either of these in real world usage.

Solace has foam protectors on chest, while Rynox also gets a pocket for protectors which you can add later. Solace has a back pocket for hydration bladder, Rynox has a Sorona thermal liner.

Rest of it is mostly similar, except that Solace gets an external rain liner, Rynox gets an internal one. Both can be worn as standalone jackets.

Now you pick, what looks better. Rynox comes at ₹8350, Solace at ₹8250. Looks are everyone's personal perspective.

Ps I recommend buying jackets with known and higher quality protectors.
