Firstly there is tons of gear brands out there, so all of them, do one thing in common and that is to confuse us, consumers

Now regarding Octane or Jetstream, considering Jetstream is just a few hundred bucks more than the Octane, I'd say go for the Octane. Being owning myself for a pretty good time, it's held up remarkably well. And ventilation, oh man, crazy ventilation, I guess far better than the Jetstream. As I previously noted in another comment for a fellow xBhp member, if you observe closely, Octane is a 80% mesh jacket, compared to Jetsream and it is basically to offer adequate protection and good ventilation and the jacket does it spot on.

Now, Jetstream on the other hand too is a mesh one, but has the textile component to it significantly, so I guess it won't be that much comfortable as Octane, though both have the same removable liner.

Now the CE component, give or take most brands out there, offer back CE protectors only as an aftermarket accessory, unlike some very less foreign brands which offer them as standard, but then 90% of the time, it's an accessory (CE approved back armor that is). The Octane and Jetstream don't come with CE approved back protectors, just a plain foam pad, like most brands and the company website have entered it wrongly as a CE approved. Only elbow and shoulder are CE certified, not the back protectors.

So to sum it up, I'd suggest go for the Octane, good jacket, can save you from most downpours and gets you home safe and sound

      Hope this helps!

      Cheers!

      Thanks for your help guys,

I've zeroed in on revive gloves and octane jackets.
I'm going to get a look at a another jacket and then will purchase by this weekend.

One thing i learnt is that you get what you pay for.

RJays Canyon as its better protected & leather construction. Jetstream gloves are waterproof gloves with NO protection

Just my take on it, though others have answered it pretty well. Leather, is best when it comes to, if you take a slide, although I don't want it to happen.

Now it's not to say that textile gloves are useless, textiles, for the most part too come with plastic protectors, and stuff, it's cheap and will do for most trips we do usually, and carry on pretty good if we take a slide.

RJays Canyon being full leather, is a pretty good choice and don't worry if it's not waterproof, when it rains it doesn't leak into the gloves, immediately. Even I have a non-waterproof leather glove, worn in a worse rain you can imagine and my fingers were bone dry except for windchill, due to the holes in the leather for venting.

But I'd say go for a RJays Canyon, offers good protection, if you take a slide, and +1 for the looks!

            Cheers!

RST Alpha II Jeans - FREE UK DELIVERY
Motorcycle Jeans, Motorbike Jeans - FREE UK DELIVERY

Alternately should I go for R-Jays Pants from Bachhoo Motors

RJays Pants - BIKES I RIDING GEAR I PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES I SPARES

Ones from UK will be cheaper by 1500 INR roughly!!!
Are there any alternative Riding Pants or websites from UK?

My primary requirement would be Fully Water Proof along with decent protection. Budget around 7k max.

Now there are lots of good stuffs in and around 7k in India itself

SHIFT jackets are of real good quality, although me never used it, have heard from guys who used it, it's pretty good stuff, although not available in India.

In UK you have lots of in-house brands, so it's better to go for a brand that people have used more and have lots of reviews, instead of getting something from UK, knowing it's cheap and then you don't wanna suffer in India.

RST are really fantastic apparel manufacturers, I've had their non-armored pant once and it stood up very well before giving up. RJays All Season Pants too are excellent ones, and comes with waterproof liner. And there are many sites in UK where you can buy online, but what I want you make sure before you do is this.

Obviously anything imported from overseas has a duty and all the tax stuff associated with it, as you mentioned a 1 to 1.5k increase, so that's out of the equation!
                • Check your pant, jacket size correctly before you do from any online retailers. A size small or larger, you are in trouble. If you purchase in India, you have an option of couriering it back to them with not that much loss, and if you purchase them in a shop, you can choose your fit, whereas overseas, you do the math
                • Brand consistency, and product quality, not everything out there is built for the last, but then we need them to last at least for a while paying significant amount of money when you buy abroad. So don't go for anything that's a bargain out there, you get what you pay for, which I strongly believe in.
                • Now if you go to UK then it's a completely different story, meaning you can choose it exactly to your spec then and there.
                • Hope this helps!

                Cheers!

                  • RYNOX GEARS

Any opinion on this? Am thinking of getting it for my Yamaha FZ. Seeking opinion from owners only. Issues that worry me are scratches from the suction cups and more importantly, the "stickiness" of the suction cups.

They have rarely been used on the suction cups so cant really comment on the durability part...

Yeah I had a chat with him after posting this and he seems to be quite happy with it. Told me I could take it for a test ride, but I think his confidence has already sold it to me. Worst case scenario, if things do mess up, I can always use it as a tail bag . Over the last few trips I realised one thing for sure and that is I am a total lazy bum when it comes to pulling out bunjee cords, opening the bag and putting it back again and as a result some of the stuff never even comes out of the bag. At least with this thing I can avoid putting a bunjee net on top and easily access the items within.
