VJ - On what basis have you rated these jackets?

I didn't see a detailed comparo or a side by side listing of each jackets features, pros and cons - so on what basis exactly did you proclaim the scores?? I think you should refrain from such proclamations unless you can back them with facts and figures.

If the scores are based on your own personal perception, you should announce that too - many junior members rely on the forum for insight and opinions and views not backed by facts should be avoided but if you must indulge in self proclamations, please warn everybody that they are such.

I have owned four jackets in the above mentioned list, plus worn one for more than 3.5 months, so that's where it comes from. My personal view yes, used them, yes. I rate them, YES!

I help others, yes, from what I've experienced.

Reviews are based upon, user usage experiences right, if I am not wrong

As you very well know, it is not feasible for a detailed review of each of the jacket I own, side by side, with huge comparos, I am a little lazy for that. So when some help is needed for someone, I chime in, backed by my usage, buddy's usage and overall comparo from their side. Plus I've already sold three of them and gifted one of them. It's lame of me saying this, but just so I make myself clear.

Please let me make myself clear. I am not the "in the know" guy to make self acclaimed proclamations, it's just my experience with these gears.

If you need any more so called "insight and opinions" kindly let me know how, where I am wrong, I can work on that too. As always, I am open to any comments/feedbacks or anything.

I am primarily looking for a lightweight, easy to live with jacket. Protection is secondary - in any case wearing a jacket itself is better than wearing nothing.

I had a pair of Cramster gloves - they disintegrated within 10k kms/1 year of daily use. So, not very much inclined towards Cramster again.
Cramster Gloves, I can't even comment, neither used. For now sticking to my RJays. But then go for Scoyco. Protection is PRIME, abhijeet, but mind you Scoyco doesn't have a liner, it might sweat. It's a no frills, cheap and reliable jacket. The armor is just excellent in this jacket, though the material it's made is really soggy.

For pure mesh jackets, why don't go for RJays Swift, Octane or DSG, Spartan etc. Never used Spartan. When it comes to RJays Octane, lock in the liner, you get okay-ish rain protection, remove the liner, you have pure airflow.

And me used the Octane, the air flow when the liner removed is just BLISS! Liner on, the jacket isn't way hotter than my ex-Maze in traffic.

But ultimately the decision is yours bud.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

hehe dont scare off the poor guy. Discontinued at Flipkart does not always imply the parent company discontinued the product. The Sony India site still lists the product. I just checked : MW600 : Mobile Phone Accessories : Mobile Phone : Sony India
Even then, if its discontinued we'd get them at lower prices no...

BTW, forgot to put this disclaimer at first: I dont promote listening to music while riding in city. I personally use them only for getting notified of incoming calls, and music ONLY when riding on open 4+ lane highways, that too at soft volumes.

A bit of details on why this one would be good? What are the strengths of this jacket compared to the rest?

Yes protection is important, but if the jacket is not usable daily, it would be sitting at home! So for me primary importance is usability.

Budget wise, anything upto 10k is fine with me.

One conclusion is Rjays Octane is same as DSG Maze airflow wise. And which one is lighter?

I tried out the A* TGP Air. It felt somewhat heavy for regular use. Atleast Rjays Swift felt a little lighter. Are all of these jacket nearly the same in terms of weight/thickness of materials used?

                • I tried the DSG revive today. Looked good. But will the leather protect the palm in case of a fall. It looked pretty soft and thin to me. Primal looked very good, but are they too much to endure in daily city commutes? And can someone tell me which should be preferable among nitro/primal/revive given the fact that most of riding is city

Also tried the A* tgp plus air. Very good fitting jacket. Looks the part. I had tried L but realized that though the shoulders protections fit perfectly, the elbow protectors didn't. The compartment housing them has a provision for their movement. Is the compartment adjustable in a way to limit the movement and achieve perfect fit as per the biker's requirement?
Because I think if that is not the case then may be size M fits me better, but the length at the torso would be much less too, exposing whatever the rider wears inside, as the size L which I tried was of perfect length.

Just to clarify that we're on the same page - I have used ALL the jackets on that list and STILL own four of them.
Many senior members of Chennai XBhp can ratify this.

Again to clarify, reviews are personal but ratings are NOT based on individual perception. If you rate something with decimal precision then you must have some rational scale of measurement by which you have scored the points. Otherwise one can only assume that your ratings are purely personal sentiment and that is what I have objected to.

If your scores are based on just personal perception, then I'm sorry but I disagree with your ratings. I definitely rate both the Octane and the Maze higher than the Breezer. (incidentally I still own the Breezer 1.0, 4.0 and the Hybrid too, without counting the other three that I mentioned above) However, that view can only be treated as my personal opinion if I do not back my rating with facts and figures and that is what I'm trying to say.

If you have not bothered to enumerate why and on what basis you made a proclamation ( and again I'm sorry, laziness is no excuse ), then you have no business rating anything.

Merely using a product qualifies you to present your opinion or review, not proclaim ratings without factual basis.

i dont think there is any kind of provision for adjusting elbow protectors.the sizing for me was perfect the front part does hang a little but i think that s how the designers designed it.for comfort

The decimal precision is just on a factual basis and the very reader knows that. If you go back my comments, and I think you've circumambulated the same question in a previous question long back. And I stated clearly "it was my opinion" and "n" number of times in my other comments, if you've followed my comments. And I always entitle, "ultimately the decision is yours"

Popping up all of a sudden, questioning me, about decimal precision, what am I supposed to answer!! LOL! Please.....

Again, there is nothing serious about the "decimal precision" the very reader knows it, by the way we articulate whether it's PRECISE, factual or preferential. PERIOD,

Probiker. LOL! I remember purchasing a fake Alpinestars glove made by Probiker or some Chinese company and bought it for 350 bucks. 700 bucks is way too costly, maybe you can bargain if you get to buy it in store. Don't buy online.

Though in many places like Snapdeal and eBay I see Probiker gloves retailing for 350~ range.
