So, after looking at a few posts above, I'm thinking of getting the fake fox knee guards on eBay. It'll be cheaper by an additional 100 with a coupon I need some confirmation from experts as to whether I can proceed or not. The only thing is, even if it doesn't provide protection, it is okay, but it shouldn't have a negative imapct like piercing the knees during a crash etc. So, what say guys?

Thanks for the suggestion guys - I do know of someone who makes/repairs bags so I will try that first. No idea of anyone who works on leather and I do not think cobbler can really work with zipper...

VJ - I had got it from Milan (Italy) a couple of years back - had gone there on a trip and there is a huge bike gear showroom (Union Bike) there where I spent atleast a couple of hours just looking at stuff - it was like paradise . This Alpinestar jacket and Alpinestar GPX gloves were on sale and I just couldn't resist buying this Italian brand from Italy

Both have been serving me pretty well since then...

They are used by quite a few people and they seem to do their job real good without any fuss. So why not!

Agreed that I too expected the zipper to last a while longer as well but then one reason for them giving up so soon could be because in my daily commute my jacket gets quite dirty so the extra friction provided by the dirt could have caused the jacket's zipper to get worn out sooner than expected... But the rest of the jacket is as good as new

apologies for interrupting in mid, but I think dirt may not be a factor for something that is made to cut the contact from the ambient .......... I mean (say for example) the backpacks we use too have zippers and if they come from reputed brand like AT, Samsonite etc etc they last really really long (across all seasons ) ............ and for sure Alpinestar is a brand to reckon with ......... I think may be it was carrying some factory defect within (may be) !!

Anyways shopping at MILAN sounds real cooooooooooooooooooool

Entry level Riding Gloves: Scoyco MC08

(kindly bear with the quality of photographs) (Just a straight n simple experience sharing after using it for a week)

OEM DescriptionHands-on-experience after using it for a week:

The fit and finish of the product is really good and is pretty much light in weight. The upper skin of the glove is of a fabric (they call it Tartan Lycra).





The palm is made up of synthetic leather and had added padding stitched to it (pic below).


There are breathing holes given beneath on the fingers to fulfill ventilation needs and keep your fingers away from excess sweating.


There is no protection at the thumb. Just fabric and synthetic leather are stitched with breathing holes on the portion of synthetic leather.



There is no protection at the finger nails. At the inside there is a padding placed in between your knuckle and the knuckle protector material of the glove, to ensure good comfort even in case of a crash.



Although I am yet to run in scorching heat, but I personally expect this pair of gloves to be a bit warm inside (that is, it may provoke sweating of the palm).

Concluding:

The product is a VFM for the paid price. I bought it online through eBay at INR 550/- after calling the seller to decide the size. It is a very good pair of gloves as far as daily commuting is concerned and is perfectly washable, if soiled. Furthermore, kindly refer to the OEM pamphlet for all the details.

But I thought you were riding Honda Stunner, not a bicycle kidding. I won't just downgrade Scoyco, as they almost define what a budget stuff should look like with the quality they offer. But since you've already bought this, I wouldn't suggest you riding on this for long distance trips. For normal commuting inside city, office/home, this should do just fine. But if you plan to tour a lot, get yourself a good leather glove.

Please dont get me wrong, but protective gears are for safety and protection against mishap. Mishaps dont differentiate between first few times and many more times. Get the best you can afford, or stay away from rides till you get good ones. I for one will not be going on any rides this summer till i get a mesh jacket, though i have elbow guards. For winters i have an excellent leather jacket which is better than the protective textile jackets, so.

IMHO Fox riding gear are meant mostly for Motosport and the ones you get in India are fake. You do the evaluation now.

Kunwar was precise. FOX usually makes apparel and gloves related to off-roading. And moreover their armor suit wouldln't be suited for practical purposes compared to a mesh jacket. So I would recommend you to invest in a proper motorcycle apparel, by saving some money.
