  • Re: DSG Primal Gloves

Just saw the armors of the latest DSG Rage and DSG Triton jackets (Both Grey/Black color), DSG has upgraded its armors to the "PU" material that international brands uses.

    Looks exactly like these ones:

It is definitely more comfortable to wear now, but softer to touch.. a layman might think mistake that the new armors are less protective.

This is indeed good news, also, does the price remain the same or is there a hike ? The older amor was so bulky and din feel good too.

No increase in price. It's still the same MRP. With this new PU type Armors, both the DSG Rage and the DSG Triton are more comfortable to wear now.

The old armor might be bulky but does feels tough and feels would last longer. The DSG Nero still comes with the old hard armor.

One can wear a thick jacket over that armour. Better for those people who cannot afford those expensive riding jackets & gloves ( there are many college going members here who dont earn money yet ).

Though this is not recommended. but again, @least something is better than nothing....

That's a great move by DSG, so what took them so long? I just don't know But these are way welcome additions. Boy I just dissed the armors on the Rage, very pathetic armors and felt like fish flakes on my shoulders. Kudos for DSG for making the move, well they should seeing the competitive arena.

                Cheers!

Have never heard of DSG selling the armor separately, i don;t think it's available. But you could PM the DSG guys from facebook or just call them up and enquire, maybe they might just be willing to get you the new one.

Old armors are indeed not comfortable, when I wore them I clearly had pressure points on my shoulder etc. PU is way better than those old padded ones. BUT, you *can* contact DSG for more info, if they're willing to ship you out, well, it's a matter of a mail or phone call.

That aside, I just don't think they'd sell the armor as as separate accessory, but you can try and post the details here, so that it can help fellow folks.

                      • Review of Rynox Optimus M Tankbag

A small review of Rynox Optimus M, Magnetic tankbag

Have been using Rynox Optimus M tank bag on my Karizma for the last 10 months. Its been part of many rides since I bought it and it served me excellent. Thought I would do a small review.

                        Pros:
                        • Large capacity (20L unexpanded, and 29L when expanded.)
                        • Excellent quality, built like a tank. The side walls of the bag are well padded to reinforce the strong build. (Cramster tank bag material looks flimsy after using this)
                        • Scratch-resistant magnetic base (does exactly what it says)
                        • Easy mounting and dismounting of magnetic base
                        • Bottom magnet makes the bag hug tightly to the tank. It doesn't move on tank unlike Cramster tank bag.
                        • Usability as Tail bag.
                        • Backpack convertibility (one of the best features that I liked). The linings of the backpack strips are well padded for comfortable backpack use.
                        • Transparent rain cover enables visibility of maps even when its raining.

                        Cons: (Specific to Karizma tank)

                        • As the bag is huge, the handle bars touch the bag when turned fully. To negate this problem I raised the handle bar position and move the tank bag towards rider side. Worked well for me. This problem is not there with R15V2 and CBR250R.
                        • As the Karizma's tank is down slope towards the rider seat, the low zipper opening line of the bag causes the items in the bag to fall when the zipper is opened. To negate this issue, I used the bag in reverse position. This is not of a big problem with flat tanks like R15 and CBR.
                        • The magnet at the base sits on the fuel cap (made of aluminium) on Karizma tank. Solved this problem when the bag is used in reverse position.
                        • In Cramster tank bag, there is a quick access compartment with Velcro opening, which was really useful in urgent situations. There is no quick access compartment in this Rynox tank bag. You have to open the zipper fully to access things.
                        • The carry strip to hold the bag with palm appears very thin. When the bag is full, I always feared to carry the bag using the strip. They could provide a stronger holder.

I have used Cramster tankbag for 5 years, and it was good. But, this Rynox tank bag is leaps ahead of it. I was able to overcome the negatives that I faced with this bag with small adjustments. The large holding capacity and the backpack convertibility are the best things of this bag. I would suggest this bag for anyone without any reservation.

I will post few pics later. Also, there is an easy way to convert the tankbag to backpack without completely removing the magnetic base. The following video shows this. Pleae bear with the amateur video.

@ravi@17bhp ... Even I have been using it for a while now and served me well on my CBR250R long rides .... Now that I've sold that bike and awaiting Duke 390's delivery I am wondering if I can use this bag without magnets to mount on tank with those straps provided for tail bag functionality ... What say?

I can't really say if you can tie the bag on KTM tank with the straps provided with the bag. My suggestion is to request the Rynox to provide you just the suction base (I am guessing that both magnetic base and the suction base have similar zipper dimensions and they can be interchangeable).

Have a look at the ViaTerra Fly.. it can mount on any tank surface including non magnetic tank surfaces. Plus it has been designed to fit on Indian Motorcycles, therefore the sides of the bag doesn't touch the sides of the bag on the Duke.

The ViaTerra Fly easily converts into a Tankbag, Tailbag and also a Backpack. Plus there is a zipped bottom to conceal the mounting straps, when not in use.

P.S: The cubic capacity of the Fly has been increased from 14 Lts (by the time when the video was made) to 16 Lts now.

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Well I will contact the dealer here and ask for the same. But somehow I don't feel those suctions will long last and hold the bag in place in case of high speed jaunts ... Thanks for the suggestion though !

I know about this fantastic bag but sadly I cannot invest in another tank bag while already having one in good condition, will instead buy their CLAW tail bag ... I just need to do some jugaad to get my current Rynox bag mounted on my Duke 390's tank !
