Rjays is a reputed and trusted, Australian motorcycle gear brand. I have used the all season riding pants extensively in the past and it's a great product. The waterproof liner works really well, the build quality is great too. I got mine from a closeout deal for 95$ hence true VFM. I have not used the DSG riding pants and hence can't comment on it.

The Spartan Helios jacket looked liked the best deal, however it seems that prices have gone up quite a bit. It will cost me 6799 + 350 shipping = 7100

Does the Helios justify the price or should I get the DSG Nero @6499 ?

Also has anyone used Benera Boots as riding boots ?
Having used Nero in the past and currently using Helios I can tell you this: The Helios being a mesh jacket is a lot more comfortable for regular day to day usage. The armour in Helios is definitely better than that in Nero.

My concern when picking up Helios was that, would mesh provide good enough protection during a crash, which was positively answered by Sunnyside_up! , when I posted the same query here. Also the helios does have cordura in the abrasion points.

End point: Helios is complete VFM, if you have a store selling SPG in your area then pick it up from them and save on the shipping costs. Nero is a great jacket too, one that saved my life so the only thing that would help you here is personally trying out both

Thanks for clarifying. I wanted to try the Helios in flesh, however unfortunately no one deals with spartan gear in Guwahati, hence no other option than shipping.

Hey guys..
I got a SPG Icarus last week...its a good jacket to look at but it doesnt end there..its very comfortable to wear..ventilation is very good. Though it costs less, it doesn't compromise on protection.

It is a complete VFM, yes it is missing few features but at that price you shouldn't be complaining.

P.S - I am not good at making reviews.

1. Anyone here who can help me to get a chest + Spine protector from US ?
I don't have any relative outside North India.

2. People buying jacket. Better buy full long length jacket. I know they suck in looks but they will protect you from this :

i'm keen to invest in a all weather jacket and pants, a casual search has shown DSG triton/nero, Rjays all season II & spartan odyssey as options.
however, my choice dilemma lies in between DSG and Rjays products, i found the camo print of odyssey to be bit over the top, so its out of the race straightaway. i havent really heard much about Rjay products but i got attracted by there 'headlining' features (CE Armour etc) over DSG's, which is known and trusted brand with good reviews.
my usage of the jacket/pants will be mostly for touring purpose, hence the 'all weather',long-lasting type is desired. budget can be stretched to ~10K but price to feature/performance ratio (VFM) must be weighed upon.

if anyone can can guide me through aboue mentioned or another products falling under the criteria as to which is best, that will we appreciated.
Snehith summed it up pretty good. Due to the dollar rupee parity, prices have been upped by SPG which was stated by the quite a few pages back. You have lots of jackets, RJays, Spartan are all really good jackets. It's not just Rjays that offers CE protection, every reputed jacket seller must be required to have a CE rating in their armor, else it's pretty much wearing a nylon jacket that you can get from any other shop. RJays are really good, and now they have refresher their products which are real cool and much improved, though slightly at the costlier side, excellent stuff. Spartan is Rjays if not are on par with it comes to the entry level products such as Octane, Swift, Helios Icarus etc.

For all season you have Rjays all season, Odyssues and then you have Cramster Breezer and Cramster K2K and Cramster Eclipse, these three are excellent VFM products.

Just before you zero in on a jacket, make sure you go for a winter jacket, because they have thermal liner stitched inside, so it doesn't breathe as a mesh jacket and you will almost inevitably sweat all the time. With RJays, Spartan, Cramster Breezer, Eclipse and you have different liners all removable depending on the need so that it is all weather at the change of their respective liners. Don't go for Triton, it's really, worse for summer conditions and have the liner stitched which makes you sweat preventing perspiration.

If you want good VFM stuff, go for Spartan. Period.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

thanks,B7ACKTHORN & snehithpereira on your inputs they were of great help and insight, as you pointed out rjays are a tad pricey but do offer good features too. after a bit more research & burying eyes in screen i've selected spartan Odyssues (hopefully available in black) for pants and short listed Rjays All weatherII (10k) and spartan Hyperion(8.5k) as jacket options, both of them cost 10k or thereabouts, (you've to purchase thermal liner separately for spartan) both've got same level of protection, its a tough choice, any suggestions?

Spartan odyssues, I was informed was out of stock in black colour, however shoot a mail to spartan to check availability, if it's please do let me know too

The jacket choices both are great it's all about where you want to put your money.

My two cents... stay away from zeus... they offer all funky features on their gear but check for their safety/protection quality and you will understand what I am talking about.

All whom I know to have used zeus in the past, have only told me look at this special pocket, look at that special pocket, nothing beyond that

I am looking for a budget riding jacket. Its my first jacket and I have no experience about riding gears. My budget is around 5k, which I can stretch a bit.
I live in surat and will shift to mumbai next year. Uses would be occasional trips and some roaming around the city ( 50-100 km) on weakends.
My requirements
1. Good protection
2. Comfort
3. Easy to maintain ( imp)
4. I know waterproof would not be possible but if possible It should provide descent rain protection.

I Would be buying within a week. Pls suugest.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I have placed the order for the Spartan Helios jacket.

Coming to riding boots, I am thinking about these boots from Benera Benera Black boot - Buy Men Boots Online | BE143SH17TLMINDFAS

They can be ordered online from Jabong at 2400 after discount of 1000. Though I understand these will not offer any substantial protection, but still will be good enough for occasional rides.

But does these look like cheap quality boots which can be bought of regular army stores in 1200-1500 bucks, or paying 2400 looks okay. Infact there is a review by a rider who says they are comfortable for long rides and usage.

At that price point you could have a look at DSG Aero, SPG Icarus, DSG phoenix, , Cramster Breezer and for about 1k more DSG Rage.

Have a look at the reviews, user experience for each of these on this thread. It will help you make a wise decision
