I am looking for riding pant in budget. It should be an all weather pant with removable warm liner & waterproof liner. Where in Bangalore can I get one. Anyone using Cramster velocity 2.0 & Rynox Raid? How is the ventilation and waterproofing? Which is better? Suggestions on any other brands are much appreciated. Enquired in solace. Solace is waterproof. But it is not combination of cordura & mesh to use in summer. It is attached with breathable & waterproof Reissa & front 2 waterproof zippers for ventilation. Thermal liner is removable.

      Riding gear armour ratings explained

I was confused about how to technically chose an riding gear & found this.

Can you tell me something about CE/European ratings for back protectors and other armor? Here’s a short explanation of the rating system used to measure the effectiveness of motorcycle armor in absorbing and withstanding impacts. The “EN” stands for “European Norm.” You might also notice armor listed as “CE”. The lette

Motorcycle Armor Ratings Explained :: MotorcycleGear.com
Some of the information provided here is wrong and misleading.

1621-1 and 1621-2 : Here the '-1' and '-2' does not talk about the level of protection. '-1' and '-2' talks about the part for which the certification is valid.'-1' is for limbs: elbow, shoulder, hip. Similarly '-2' is for back. Did you know there is also a '-3' , this is for chest.
Thus it nowhere indicates the level of protection, but the body-part where that particular part (armor) is meant for.

1621-1: 2003: Here “2003” refers to the year when the standard was implemented. The standards have to be reviewed or updated every few years.

However the website mentions "Since the last updates the requirements have not changed. The standard for level 2 has been the same since 2003 and for level 1 it has not changed since 1998."

These standards have been last updated in 2014, imo. Almost all Knox armor are 2012
The armor used in my Rynox Air GT (which is an entry level jacket of Rynox) itself has a 2012 certification. The armors mention "EN 1621-1: 2012".

I shall try to update images of the armors of my Air GT jacket as well.

Except for these two points, everything else was very much informative.

Yeah I too later noted that. Level 1 & 2 doesn't mean book 1 & 2. Other than that it's a good one. I read the whole thread and didn't found anything regarding tech specs. Even in first page.

There's nothing like how to choose the gear in first place which was a big task for newbies like me (now I know something)

As the post is too old some of the earliest discussions are outdated.

            • Armor placement adjustment

On my Air-GT (Small) the right shoulder armor was sliding backwards so I used cable ties of the internal mesh to fold the mesh so that the armor doesn't slide.

No need to enlarge the mesh holes, the cable tie passes through easily.
And don't cut the cable tie, the cut end will be sharp pointed and is likely to pierce/cut your skin.
Multiple cable ties are used to try and divide the forces onto multiple mesh holes, so that the mesh doesn't tear (don't know if it's actually effective).

I had consulted with Rynox before doing this and they confirmed that this usage of cable ties won't affect the warranty.

I will also be using the cable tie between the two arm adjusters to get a tighter fit on the arm, waiting to purchase black color cable tie.

Front Again with the Zip inside the pant open till the knee from Bottom.
Not Sure everyone will like this, however I liked it as it will help you position the knee armor properly.
Also, the armour is again inside a mesh pocket, which is detachable from the Pants. The pocket is attached to the Pant with Velcro's.

Rain Liner. This is an external rain liner, and they are worn outside the pant. that is over the Pant. so the good thing is, I can use it as a rain pants as well.

The boot has standard safety features like shank reinforced sole and steel toe with metal toe sliders.
It also comes with D3O padded ankle protectors and PU molded protectors at heel, shin and calf.
The build quality is pretty good and the product feels premium. They have YKK zippers and Velcro closure too. The sole is supposed to be anti slip sole. The boots themselves are CE rated.

I want to buy full gauntlet gloves around Rs.4000, i am nearly convinced that TBG sport gloves are the best out there, mainly because i've heard so much about the after sales support and quality of the gloves, should i go for it, any better / more vfm options? I will use these solely for highway/weekend rides, also for people who've used these how is the ventilation and the comfort level when riding in summer or winter?

Well the TBG sport is great gloves and i would recommend it simply because the quality is pretty good . Although it a bit more expensive than it's rivals , it adds up to its features . Here's a detailed review on this product

                          • Any Solace Defender Jacket Users??

                            Hi,

Planning to purchase Solace Defender Jacket, loved the specs of the jacket especially the specifications of the protectors. Would like to know if anyone here uses the jacket and need their reviews. Also would like advice on jackets by other brands. Below is the link of the Defender Jacket.

                            Thank You.

I was about to buy Solace Sprint in blue but avoided due to the protectors. They're meant for kids at best. Don't go by the protector ratings on paper. Remove them from the jacket, put one on your shoulder, ask a friend to punch it and check. You will know for yourself ☺
I would say go for Knox. Rynox or any other brand.

Yes. You would get fried in the Defender (No Mesh). Go for a Mesh Jacket with good armors like Knox.
