Didn't ride with the jacket on without rains yet, but the website says its breathable so shouldn't be too uncomfortable

        Hello Ajay ,
You can try TBG Short boots that comes for 5950 /- or Solace Roha Short boot. I was confused between them and finally picked up solace for the extra toe slider. It Comes for 6500 INR. Both are waterproof and both are of good quality. The TBG one is less flashy and looks more like a normal boot at first site.

I also does the same as i ride with the boot and swap with formals in office. I am using this as my daily riding boots.

This are the 2 options which i was considering for the daily option. Hope this helps.

        Thanks

I am looking for a new pair of gloves under 2k (Can stretch my budget ONLY if nothing good is available under 2k). I will use the glove during my daily commute only. No touring or race track use. I have been using cr*ppy pro bikers since last 4 years/8000kms so i am expecting new pair to last atleast 2 years/20,000kms.

My Requirements: Long lasting (2 years/20,000kms atleast), Safety, Inexpensive

          Options considered so far:

cramster flux and twister: I have a personal dislike for cramster due to lack of warranty and quality issues.

rynox rampage: Looks good, but reviews say the leather is too thin to provide any good protection

          solace sprint: Out of stock

DSG Motomesh: Not interested in these full textile gloves.

Please suggest something that suits my needs and budget

ps: Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched a lot but couldn't find anything that suits my needs
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

I recently bought the Cramster Flux gloves, which are good quality ones for under 2k, but not sure on the long run though, but at the same time I have been using DSG Revive gloves also and it has been almost 3 years that I have started to use the DSG gloves and I see still no sign of wear and tear and in fact as good as new, but only if you can stretch your budget a bit more to 3k, which is available on DSG website itself.

              • SAS TEC level 2 Protectors

I bought the SAS TEC level 2 armors from Solace website www.solaceintl.in which includes Back/elbow/shoulder protectors. Everyone knows about the SAS TEC but still I had taken the pictures of protectors to better understand for our buddy bikers.

Right now I am using Rynox Air GT so I replace the armors with SAS TEC as initially I just wanted to go for elbow/shoulder pairs but as Air GT come with just a foam insertion at back & not even a CE level 1 protector so I purchased full set including back.

I must say the armors are pretty good, well fitted. Thickness is awesome especially the back protector. Main aspect is the comfort level I like about it the most.

Yup ... they (Solace Roha ) really are good in quality and protection wise as well. They do have a TPU and an aluminium fram for toe slider and protection at both sides of the angle.

                        • RYNOX Advento Riding Pants

                          Hi Guys,
A few days ago I picked up the RYNOX Advento Riding Pants.
I had a Spartan Odysseus earlier which was a size bigger than what fits me and hence I let go off that and had to pick a new one.

Search begun by reading up reviews on forums and product websites. And i had zero'd down to two pants
                          1. Rynox Advento
                          2. Spartan - Aspida Proteus

And then made I my mind and I picked the pants from Orion Motors opposite Forum, Kormangla, Bangalore. The pant comes with a inner thermal liner and an external rain pant..

                          My non-ride impression of it
                          Likes:
                          1. Fits well and is pretty comfortable..
                          2. External rain pants goes over without any hassle. Even the rain pants has a bit of reflective tape at the back. The rain pant has provision of loops near the hips that goes into these small buttons and hence helps stay fixed properly with the riding pants
                          3. Adjustable clips to keep the knee protectors in proper place
                          4. The best part I liked is that the knee protectors can be removed very very easily while the pants are on and thus makes it comfortable to walk around (many times on rides we tend to walk/hike/trek a bit and this feature would definitely make the walk comfortable)

                          Dislike:
                          1. Only one now - The pockets are small in size and just fits a 6 inch phone.. (Coming from the Odysseus this is why probably I noticed it).. But not a let down though.. Just my view point

                          Few pics

There is this zipper on the side that opens up till half length of the pants and thus allowing removal/adjustment on the knee protectors. The knew protectors are in a separate pouch and with help of multiple Velcro strips the same can be adjusted inside the pants.. Hope the pic explains this

The pants comes with external rain pants.. Tried it on an it fits well over the riding pants

I also want to share an experience that I had while buying the pants..

Whenever anyone of you are picking up riding gear please make sure to thoroughly check/inspect the product very very well including the armors that are inside..

This is what happened when I was picking the Rynox Advento pants

There was only one L size at the store and it was missing the hip Armors (both sides) So I pointed that out and the store manager said that its was removed and kept aside and that the store attendant will get it...
After waiting for around 15 mins the attendant comes and says he's gotten the armors and we proceed towards the billing counter.. There I notice that the armor were regular foam as opposed to the knox armor ..
Here they try to convince me that this is what comes with the pant...I had to open up the RYNOX site and show them the product description and finally they agreed and provided the knox hip armor...

If I hadn't noticed or If i hadn't known the product details well, then I would've definitely been cheated.. .

So please everyone make sure to inspect very meticulously and then only bill the product...

                              Hi Everyone

I am looking to buy my own bike soon (first one) and start touring on it. Well the purchase is still a few months away. Till then i was hoping to get all the riding gears required.
Kindly provide your suggestions for the same.

Usage: Touring (short rides at first to acclimatize to it and then eventually long rides) and occasional short city rides (no need to think about office commute since the distance is around 3.5km and I generally like to walk it...unless summer gets worse in Bangalore in the coming years).
Budget: Given below. However, since I work in the IT industry from the last 2 years I can barely afford a good bike (dont want to burden Dad with the purchase). So parting with more money for riding gears is difficult but I understand the need for it. The bike and gear purchase will probably finish off my entire savings...but I am tired of waiting to start my Biking journey.

                              Riding Gear Budget
Jacket: Don't want to comprise on safety but since we live in a country with varied climates and my primary purpose is touring an all weather jacket would be preferable 10K
Gloves: Full gauntlets and usable in rains preferred but not really sure on the comfort of these in India 6K
Boots: With decent all round protection and removable toe slider. If it looks inconspicuous then even better though not a deal breaker. 8K
Riding Jeans/Pants: Would like to get the jeans first since I believe in having maximum possible protection even for short rides. Will buy riding pants later. 6K
If you are wondering about the Helmet then I have already got a MT Blade (from Moto 101. Went to buy the MT Matrix but the salesman told me that they don't import them anymore) since my Roommate has already got himself a scooty and started dragging me out for short rides.

My priority for the gears is protection. I understand that the best safety comes from a good combination of Armors and the material (leather) and that we have to sacrifice either comfort (and in-turn usability) or protection. Since I would gear up even for short rides (like to walk most of the time....so not much of a hassle) so I need to find gears with good balance between the two. Also, since i don't believe in buying riding gear without trying it out in person kindly exclude ones which cannot be brought from Bangalore. The above budget can be extended for around Rs2K for every item but not much more.

                              RIDING JACKET:

For Jackets I am looking at TBG Adv Breed Jacket (went to check it out at Lets Gear Up), Spartan Hyperion (since Helios doesn't seem to have adjusters for the armors) and Rynox Tornado Pro, Solace Defender Plus and ASPIDA Odysseus.

                              Jacket Name Comments
TBG Adv Breed Jacket The top contender since it is the only one that comes with Level 2 Sastech Protectors for shoulders, elbow and back. However, not sure about the quality of the mesh used, the jacket chassis, material at impact zones, comfort during summer rides and during rains etc. Owners kindly let me know.
ASPIDA Hyperion doesnt have Level 2 protectors at almost Rs3000 more is a big downer since I will have to upgrade later. Not really sure how it's better than the TBG one. Kindly let me know.
ASPIDA Odysseus Seems to be a new jacket in their lineup and haven't seen any reviews of this one. However, it has the same cons as the Hyperion.
Rynox Tornado Pro falls short on protection like the ASPIDAS.
Solace Defender Plus Not sure of the brand itself. However, this one comes closest to the TBG one on protection (misses out on back armor level 1 only).

I am not really sure why the Adv Breed is so economical compared to the others. Kindly let me know if it misses out on any features that are important (like is the mesh of lower quality or is the cordura used of a lower standard etc). I have only seen the Adv Breed in person so cant comment on its quality versus the others.

                              RIDING GLOVES:

For gloves I am looking at TBG Sport(TBG Explorer seems to offer less protection), ASPIDA Ares and Solace BRAVO.

                              Gloves Name Comments

I can convince myself to go for the TBG. Just want experienced riders to let me know if its worth the premium and more importantly can I use it during rains (owners kindly help me out). Moreover, is it a good idea to wear full gauntlet gloves on the road for touring?

                              RIDING BOOTS:

Boots are one part of riding gear that I have not researched much on since initially I wanted to use ankle length boots. However, for going on longer rides I am willing to invest on full length riding boots now. I am only aware of TBG Track Breed, RYO Raptor II Boots sold by SPG and SOLACE THRESHOLD.

                              Boots Name Comments
TBG Track Breed Seems to be the most expensive one (Rs8850). However, unlike the gloves I cant justify the price from the features mentioned. Seems to have requisite protection for the shin and ankle (not sure about the heel though). It is mentioned as waterproof so I am assuming it can be used for touring.
RYO Raptor II Boots At Rs8000 this one offers TPU protection for shin, ankles and heels. It also mentions Lorica upper layer and metal insole. I dont get either of these terms. Could someone explain them? This one seems alright though.
SOLACE Threshold At Rs7200 this one seems to be the most VFM. In addition to all the features of the TBG and Raptor boots it also mentions additional protection for Rear arch & Calf. But more important is that it seems to have Water proof internal membrane (HIPORA) unlike the Raptors. Just would like confirmation from you guys that this actually works (if someone who owns these boots can confirm the features and the waterproof thing would be great).

I am sure that there are other brands out there with better built products at higher prices. But since I am probably going to be short of funds from getting the Jacket and gloves itself I cant afford an expensive GORE-TEX membrane boot from an international brand. Any other VFM option (safety first though) recommendations would be welcome.

                              RIDING JEANS:

Well since I need to use these for any short day rides they cant come off looking like I am armored terrorist. So subtle jeans with removable knee and hip protectors would be great. The only ones I have come across in India are Zeus and Royal Enfield. Are there any others available in Bangalore.

                              Jeans Name Comments
Zeus Dark Rider Jeans Comes in a 10.5oz heavy denim (Has a Lycra and Non Lycra Mix). Has DuPont Kevlar fiber at the knees and hips along with Knox armors. Seems ok for the price (Rs4800).
Royal Enfield Jeans Comes in some kind of Lycra Denim Mix. Armour only at the Knee. So at Rs4000 this one doesn't seem like the Best deal.

First things first not really sure if I can check out the Zeus in person unlike the RE Jeans. Also, request members to weigh in on whether Riding Jeans with armors are better than Knee Guards (something like the Mototech or AlpineStars Vapour) with regular denim. I am planning to get the Riding Pants ones I have more cash in hand. Kindly provide your suggestions while I will keep researching on the available options.

Regarding other brands I am not too keen on DSG or Cramster based on their customer support. They probably make VFM products but dont want to support a company that from the posts here that I have read leaves it customers hanging. If there are options from other brands with good customer support that I have missed kindly let me know. For international brands like Alpinestarts and Dianese I am sure they make great quality products but with the Tax that we pay in India I am not sure if I will be getting my Moneys worth.

I know this is probably too long a post and appreciate any advice on the gear options mentioned above (even one of them would be great). Kindly suggest any other options in the market since I am sure I have missed some.
