The jacket comes with a kind of egg-crate shaped foam on one side and a thicker density foam on the other. Far superior to the stuff seen in DSG/Cramster/Scoyco and quite thick. Problem is that its not very flexible since it's thick and so tends to protrude a bit. Sure that it will deliver in a crash though.Originally posted by xionite View Post

Sorry for the many posts - was finally a little free today and so I was catching up!
Thought I would share my experience from last Saturday.
Went down in a lowside, making contact with my right-side toes, knees, hand, elbow, shoulders and finally head - in roughly that order.
Being an old-timer (40) and being aware that its not IF you fall but WHEN, I wear ALL my gear ALL the time. Thanks to this attitude, my boots, knee-guards, gloves, armored jacket and helmet did what they were meant to and let me walk away unscathed from what was potentially a nasty accident.
Attached are pics of my gear where it contacted the ground.

Glad you're fine mate. Whether an old timer or not, it definitely makes sense to ride with gear. *thumbs up*Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! Its also good to see the younger ones here investing in riding gear.
Are those jeans equipped with knee protectors (or were you wearing them inside)? Asking cos the jeans have taken the beating but you didnt mention any knee bruises/injury (hope you didnt have any).ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

I did not even know I had hit the road with my knee till somebody asked me how my leg was.
Actually that applied with all points of impact - toes, elbows and even the last tap on the back of my helmet. I felt NOTHING - except the force of the impact. I was so pleased with not getting hurt that I was grinning like a baboon even though my bike was damaged - and everyone thought the fall had knocked something loose in my head!
51K bill from PBK though!

Nice real review. What is the status of the helmet?? Which model knee guard are you using and what is its condition now?Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostSorry for the many posts - was finally a little free today and so I was catching up!

I have an Indian made AGV - looking for an upgrade but no real gripes about it so far - I remember tapping the road with my head lightly but could find no signs of damage, so didn't click any pics. Cramster Bionics under my jeans - perfectly all rights except for a bad scrape mark where it made contact with the road.

A drop from 2 feet is sufficient to discard your helmet.
Helmets have something known as EPS which
Source--The great thing about EPS is that as it crushes, it absorbs lots of energy at a predictable rate. It doesn't store energy and rebound like a spring, which would be a bad thing because your head would bounce back up, shaking your brain not just once, but twice. EPS actually absorbs the kinetic energy of your moving head, creating a very small amount of heat as the foam collapses.
This thing works only once, so even if you manage to drop your lid on concrete/asphalt from 3 feet or above, your helmet is a goner the EPS has done its work and is of no use in case of an impact.

Hey guys today I have booked for a DSG Moto MeshBlack Gloves from ebay... (after I lost(forgot) my previous pair in my village)
The funny thing is I am waiitng for the right colour and size from the last ~1month in the DSG website but unable to find it and I have even called the shop and they told it will be available only in the last week of October. I am just astounded to find it on ebay from the same seller (DSG) can you guys put some light esp: DSG guys if you are here there is no price difference even to think there is some gain to DSG guys and even the courier rate is cheap via ebay

i think we all get in to a false sense of comfort. a helmet dropped from 2 feet will not loose anything as there is no weight on the foam. if you load weight into the helmet and drop it from 2 feet may be it may loose efficiency. in any case generally it is not reccomended to use a helmet more than 2 years in fact even less as it will loose efficiency on use ( gradual decrease ) . so your 30K tin can may not have the protection it is supposed to give after 2 years of use. but we all use them till we have money for another.Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! It is acually 5 years from the year from purchase, or max seven years from the date of manufacture. That is if the helmet has not been dropped.Originally posted by harikeshpk View Posti think we all get in to a false sense of comfort. a helmet dropped from 2 feet will not loose anything as there is no weight on the foam. if you load weight into the helmet and drop it from 2 feet may be it may loose efficiency. in any case generally it is not reccomended to use a helmet more than 2 years in fact even less as it will loose efficiency on use ( gradual decrease ) . so your 30K tin can may not have the protection it is supposed to give after 2 years of use. but we all use them till we have money for another.
