I go to Vile Parle from Thane ~25km each wayOriginally posted by somen1984 View Post
From to where you go to college ??
Weekly 750 that means 4 weeks a month = 750*4 = Rs 3000 and anything more than college routine, some tour or other stuff would cross this Rs3000/- mark right ??
Surely, your parents are loving you alot. Ypu are lucky Bro!!
But you could have saved your parents money to great extend and petrol too. But if money doesn't matter you or your family then awesome!! But most of us are not that lucky so we have to settle at some average thing, But no regrets, today by own money I had own R15 and enjoy to the brim!! No petrol or money issue at all now.
And I do wear all my gears while going to college
When you talk about CBR250R with ABS, u r not just talking about performance, u r also talking about your own safety
Anyone will agree that its a really good machine for the highways, and the breaking in ABS is just too good
ABS has actually saved my life 3 times...
(Once I almost hit a buffalo crossing the highway !!! I came from 120kmph to 40 in a few meters) And this can happen only in India !!!
This is how I go to college everyday:

I fold the jacket and put it it that Bag m wearing, and I roll my jeans over the shoes to cover them, so that they dont become the center of attraction in college
And I suggest Ezikannan to do the same...
Cause your life is more important than 20k worth of gears...Last edited by kidpikoon; 10-14-2012, 10:46 PM.CBR250R with Leo Vince Cobra Exhaust

BTW in mumbai we have good localtrain service which can save your risk of life daily on highway with some good money. If you go in 1st class - Local then too it will save great amount. But it's your choice mate!!
In train you can have friends and good time pass, rest full travel too.
You are lucky bro that you spend unnecessary Money with out any issues. We can't even think of that, at that time!!Last edited by Guest; 10-14-2012, 10:49 PM.

I do some small business like selling Hamster Babies n stuff n so I always have ~Rs.4000 per month of pocket money, that I use for buying this stuff...Originally posted by somen1984 View PostBTW in mumbai we have good localtrain service which can save your risk of life daily on highway with some good money. And well, trains r too crowded, and take 1:30 hr to reach there, plus rick from home to station and station to college each way cost about Rs.50 in total for each day + Plus First Class pass is like 1k a month,
Whereas I reach College in 40mins on my CBR and Need about Rs.100 worth of pertol, which is reasonable it u think of it...
Also if u fall off a bike in Gears, ur chances of surviving r higher then, that after falling off a overcrowded Train in normal cloths...Last edited by kidpikoon; 10-14-2012, 10:58 PM.CBR250R with Leo Vince Cobra Exhaust

Hmm, anyone know the current on road price of CBR 250 ABS? Although my dad will be a bit reluctant at first if I tell him that I want a ride over 1.5 L, he might agree if I explain about the ABS tech. Regarding the gears, how much did it cost altogether? I'll be certainly getting a full set of riding gear along with my new ride. But still I think that if I went for the duke, then I might be able to use that extra cash for the gears and stuff. Will I be able to spend on the gears and still stay within 2 L if I buy the CBR 250 ABS?Originally posted by kidpikoon View PostI go to Vile Parle from Thane ~25km each way

The reason I'm going for power machines instead of mileage is because my parents will give me atleast 18k for a year to spend for the petrol for my commute to the college. Note that the 35km commute to my college makes up for most of the daily commute (40~50k). I won't be going to the college for 365 days, so as far as I have calculated, even if I get an FE of 30 (which is unlikely since I'll be doing highway rides mostly), I won't be needing more than 12.5k. Even if there is a hike, I can still manage to make do. So money for gas isn't a problem here, thats why I'm choosing the big machines rather than the mileage ones.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostActually a college student should go with some mileage stuff with some average power, because when you earn, you are more responsible on money matters, whether to smoke it on petrol or save it.Last edited by Ezilkannan; 10-14-2012, 11:33 PM.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Current on road price ABS variant in Jaipur is 194k. So I don't think you'll be able to maintain the 2L budget along with the gears.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostHmm, anyone know the current on road price of CBR 250 ABS? In mumbai CBR250R ABS costs 2.02L so u can consider it as 2L for most of the calculations...
Edit: Will be cheaper in Tamil Nadu
As for my Gears they cost 21k in total...
U can get cheaper Gears but do check their quality..
M sure ur mom dad wont think much if its ur safety thats concerned...
U can get AXO knee guards+Elbow guards @ 1.2k (For Temp use if u cant get the jacket not)
LS2 Helmet @ 3k
These would be sufficient for the beginning if parents not allowing for full gears right away... (So I guess ull reach Exactly 2L after these 2 things...)
And shoes would be the costliest most probably...
My Shoes cost 7.5k...Last edited by kidpikoon; 10-15-2012, 12:03 AM.CBR250R with Leo Vince Cobra Exhaust

My parents will be ready to pay more if its going to provide protection to me. All I need to do is to explain to them about it and I might have to wait a little longer if I'm going for the CBR. What is the delivery time of the CBR? One of my friends told me it was 6 months, I was like WT*? I hope it ain't true.Originally posted by kidpikoon View PostIn mumbai CBR250R ABS costs 2.02L so u can consider it as 2L for most of the calculations...

At that price range, I would suggest that you take the Duke, but if you are gonna do 100ks(that is quite a lot for everyday riding), you may need to extend your budget a little bit and pick the CBR 250R with ABS, and I hope you have all the gears with you if you are going to be riding at 140ks. And don't expect very high mileage or FE when you are going for 20+ Ps. Of the 3 Duke is more fuel efficient, but it won't be suited for such long rides everyday, while CBR is least efficient but most comfortable for your rides. Personally I would recommend that you do a test drive and then decide for yourself.Originally posted by nagakarthik View Posthow much mileage does it returns when u go to higways generally appox speed of 140kmph and in city

These two bikes are not at all comparable because both having different characters. Any way as everyone said DUKE,street fighter where as CBR,Capable tourer.
If you decide CBR and at the same time if u need to wait, then it will be good for you. Because there will be new colors coming in CBR 250.
Six months waiting period for CBR is a old story. Now delivery can be done within a week or even before.
Ride Safe

I really love to ride my motorcycle. When I want to just get away and be myself and clear my head, that's what I do - Kyle Chandler

CBR will return 25-30kmpl if you hit 140kmph. R15 is not that bad i never got back pain, but yes it's not for city at all. To ride any sports bike you have to be fit. Weight under control.Originally posted by nagakarthik View Posthow much mileage does it returns when u go to higways generally appox speed of 140kmph and in city

100kms is really a big distance daily. think again go with mileage and comfort rather than power, else your wish!!

I get around 30kmpl always...Originally posted by nagakarthik View Posthow much mileage does it returns when u go to higways generally appox speed of 140kmph and in city

At whatever speeds I ride, till my route is the same (ie 12km Highway + 10Km city + 3km bumper to bumper traffic each way everyday) I keep getting 30kmpl...
If I do only city + bumper to bumper traffics it comes down to 25...
When I hag gone to Pune, 220km, continuously above 115, with peaks of 145, I got 36kmpl....
So it all depends on the Freenes of the roads, if u r above 80 in the 6th gear constantly ull get the best milage out of ur CBR...
