    get used to it.

So, did you get test rides of both bikes yet? give us your opinion on both bikes, writing down thoughts sometimes helps in reinforcing a decision.

(shameless plug for Duke now, kindly excuse) So did you know that the duke is now available in 2 additional color schemes? A black with white and orange stickers, and a white with black and orange stickers along with the original all orange scheme it was launched with.

Well things could have been better. I've hit a roadblock at the moment. I've been having medical issues of late. Last week, I was diagnosed with problems in my Right kidney (Hydronephrosis of kidney and kinking in ureter). Doc has said it might be congenital or something. Have to take CT scans, Renograms and some other tests. So I'll have to wait for atleast a month, because parents are more concerned about my health right now than getting a new bike. But even that is good, the more I wait, the more I'll be able to spend for the bike. Might get enough cash to pick CBR 250 ABS after a month Regarding test rides, my Dad doesn't want to do any test rides until he's sure that I'm not having any serious issues. Will be getting the reports by next week, and then a visit to the Doc again. I'm hoping that I don't get any bad results in the reports . I know they've released new colors, but I'll be going with the Orange like I mentioned in the first post, IF I pick the Duke that is.

Well actually the new colors aren't as appealing as the orange, (atleast to me that is).

Its been a long time since I last posted here, I thought I might update this up with some good news. Well firstly my health issues are taken care of and I'm in pretty good shape now. Secondly as I had to wait for quite sometime before I could discuss about the new bike again, my dad has agreed to increase the budget to 2.0 L which means now I can take the CBR 250 R C-ABS . Gonna pay a visit to the Honda showroom tomorrow, possibly take a test ride as well

Alright I visited the nearest Honda showroom. Here's what I heard from them. The total cost is around 1.98L and the delivery time is 2 months (almost in time for my next b'day ). Now I've asked him to give me a test ride, he said that currently they don't have a test ride for the CBR 250 R. Keeping my fingers crossed for the moment. Will be booking the bike once I test ride it(probably some day this week).

                          @ TS

If you have not yet put your hands on CBR250R ABS, please stay off. Duke is any day better than this crap which is manufactured in India. The only thing good about this piece is ENGINE and ABS. Your peace with the purchase is important any day and believe me this crap has so many issues. I know there are many owners silent here and they can only open up if and only if HMSI announces a free replacement or tenders right for on the spot discussion and action.

Rest is your call. I own this crap and I have no regrets to spell out the truth even though its my baby. My suggestion would be you better wait for Ninja 300 or Duke 390 which would hit Indian roads very soon. It is better to spend a little extra than spending 2laks on this crap which is not worth it at all. The term CBR has become a easy weapon these days to lure people these days. People would be even more lured with upcoming CBR500 with a cool price tag and underpowered engine.

Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D

Ahem, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Duke too manufactured in India? Ofcourse Duke would be better for city rides due to its flickability, but I'm sure that CBR is better than a Duke when it comes to touring. And regarding N300, it would be way over my budget. I mean, I couldn't even afford to get a N250, how do you think I'd be able to get a 300? lol

You would better do a number of "lols" to your decision if you ever get CBR. My Dear, I only intended to make you aware and I also clearly said "it is your call". I shared partly the horrors of CBR 250R here, can you imagine some 2012 CBR250Rs even came with CBR150cc's cylinder and the owner is still waiting for actions. Honda should have replaced the entire bike without any second thoughts.

                              Good luck with your decision.

Though the 2 quotes below should help you make your final decision, still putting in my own experience. When I planned for CBR250, I didn't go for even a test ride of Duke, just because I got such awesome reviews of Duke. And I wanted a faired one. As far as maintainance is concerned, it depends on you buddy. Whether its a splendour or Duke or CBR or R1, you should respect it if you want respect from it.

Both make almost exactly the same amount of power (25Ps) so the statement that CBR is more powerful than the Duke is not exactly accurate. Duke should be the more fuel efficient one amongst the 2 (its an important point when we consider that you are a student and your commute is almost ~1500km/month)

About the maintenance bit, the owners can guide you better, but in your case, you cannot go wrong with either.
Very aptly put comparison, I must say.

But i,m also in urge of buying a new bike and i have made a well study of all the Bikes to some extent

Since the topic is only about the two bikes i will only give input about these two

Both these bikes may of the same segment but they both have different characters

                                To be short
                                CBR 250 : Touring
                                Duke 200 : Street fighter

Both these machines Chunk 25 Horses and remarkable when it comes to handling

                                Duke200:
If you are a Fan of Yamaha RX two stroke then i bet you will for sure fall in love with the Duke - Its quite exactly churns our the same kind of power delivery what you expect from a Rx or Shogun - and engine nice is quite similar too
Its a Short stroke engine similar to the RTR and produces lot of Torque like the Fazer - but quite naturally its different then all the Bikes that are available in INDIA.
10ltr Fuel tank capacity, All visible monster looks, Good build quality and trust worthy Racing heritage from KTM, with FE of around 35-40kmpl.

                                CBR250:
This Heavy dude is a downgraded version of bigger CBR's and looks really awe sum but its not a bike for Complete city riding, its a Tourer it does produce remarkable torque like the duke, but its a bit heavier then the duke so flicking it in traffic is quite a job, its costlier then the duke and FE is almost similar to the Duke too.
Honda's Bullet proof Engine quality and trust of Honda are the advantages of Honda.

Ideally the mind set of today's Bikers are all based on Bad impressions if you go for any product something or the other will be bad about it, but at the end its what you want that matters the most
So if your mind says Duke just go for it.
But if you ask a question VFM then i would say Ride the Wing.

If you want a Full faired Bike or the Naked Bike is the only question - if you answer this question you will get the bike which you want.
You can't go wrong with this. This description should erase all doubts.
