I really wish they'd improve pre-sales and after sales. They are loosing precious customers.

Darn! The more I read, the more I research, the more confused I get.
Now after reading some more, I feel that I should include the 125ST to my list. It costs about the same as SS125. ~63K.
Also, venturing into the 150CC category, there are bikes like Hero Achiever (70K) and D150 (61K). Now, there is huge difference in the pricing, it's even lower than 125CC. So there must be some compromise, right?
While discussing with a friend today, that's what he mentioned that Honda demands a premium because they give quality. I agree, no doubt. But paying 61K for 110cc bike (twister) is a little bit overkill in my perspective - but yes, the twister comes with tubless tyres, disc brakes, good PWR, etc<<<< If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything! >>>>

You get what you pay for. That's the basic mantra of life my friend. Do not judge a bike by looking at two criteria at once. Lay out YOUR requirements, shortlist the bikes that meet those and choose the ones in that range that fit snugly in your requirements. Do not let other figures confuse you. The D150 has lesser features compared to the D125st. Thus the pricing. Yamaha and honda have a very high level of quality that is unparalleled, thus the cost. Let me tell you, I paid a good amount for the twister, but never has the mileage gone below 60kmpl, even when I rode insanely. No body work issues, no extra costs, nothing. D150 is also a great commuter but quality of paint, finishing on the bike, quality of non-metal parts all disappoint me. Thats the difference. So, look at what you want rather than what the world has to offer.

Discover 150 is still a reasonable option considering you pay less for it than you pay for SS125 / 125ST / Honda Shine / CB Twister / Passion PRO.
Up and over the 125ST, you get fatter tyres, a bigger (non-petal) front disc, same power and more torque on the Discover 150, all this for less money than the 125ST. My cousin recently sold his first gen (2005?) Discover 125 and I really couldn't put a finger on anything which was out of place. He even got 29k for his 7 year old bike with 80k odd on the odo which I would say was pretty darn good. So I disagree about quality and longevity.
And if you are looking for 'the compromise', have one look at the Discover 100 and try spotting the difference and you will know the compromise.
To save costs on the Discover(100/125/150), you can buy it in any colour you want 'As long as it is Black'(= As famously said my a certain Sir Henry Ford
).
Every month, each and every panel of the roughly 1.5 lac units of the bike sold every are painted exactly the same in order to save material, painting and inventory costs. How big an effect this has on the costs can be seen from the fact that KTM raised a good 8k on the Ex-Showroom price of their bike, the Duke 200, when they introduced the 2 new colours (Black and White apart from the older Orange) this Diwali.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Visited the Yamaha Factory shop again yesterday evening. There was no one in there except the two of us and the rest of the showroom staff that was awaiting to go home. Was roughly between 6:45p to 7:15p.
Checked out the SZ-X and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of that package. Simply amazing. But it's tad tall for me and I can only put down one foot at a time. So decided against it (had already done so). Sat on the FZ-16 FZ-s and since the saddle is a little low, I could touch my feet both sides. But the bulkiness, weight and power were the factors I decided against it. YBR125 was there and it seemed the most comfortable one - height wise. Checked out the SS125 once again and have decided to go for it. Since it's almost like the YBR125 except that it gets disc brakes, 5 gears (instead of 4) and better over all looks including seats, graphics, cowls, etc.<<<< If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything! >>>>

What are your thoughts on Ignitor ? And how about P135 ??

Curse of the blue pearl...
Today went to the Yamaha Factory shop to book the SS125. There was only one display piece (blue) and one red piece in stock lot. I wanted to buy the blue one. They said that stock will not come until end of Jan '13.
So gave my number to the showroom guy and returned.
I'm considering 150CC - but lite bikes. I checked the FZ and SZR but they were heavy for my liking. 30mins+ in dense bumper to bumper traffic with stop-go-stop will be pain for me. I want a bike that will be comfortable in such situations.
I'm considering waiting for 1.5 months, given that SS125 is fulfilling all my needs. Shine is too plain-jane and other bikes are not fulfilling some or the other requirement on my list...<<<< If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything! >>>>

D150?? What happened to that?? And I'm really finding it hard to believe you found the FZ heavy. Bulky, yes, but heavy? No. My 5'2 tall girlfriend found it comfortable!
But then again, to each man his own!
Well, I want to tell you something. Many-a-time, even though the sales staff is dumb and careless, mechanics tend to be sharp. Have you check your TVS dealer's mechanics. You might find sales sloppy, but seriously, what matters is the servicing. Even that can be fixed with a mail or two to your area's TVS GM. Don't know how you felt it as heavy or not fit for heavy traffic. Let me telll you one thing FZ is of the of the best city bike with everything needed in city. Handling and braking is good. Well, ABS is advantageous, true, but in your case you could give it a pass. I actually rode a non-ABS RTR, and I have to say, the brakes are very very progressive. They bite well, but don't seem to lock very easily. So, the ABS is required mostly in panic and performance related situations only. Nevertheless, a very good investment, you may give it a pass, because of your budget. Yes, OTR does come up to about that for the 160. the OTR price of the RTR180 and RTR160 in MH02...

RTR 160 72-75K (Dual Disc)
Few K's always here & there...^ (It come as Dual disc & single disc too)
The new Version of RTR is/are much more stable @120 or 130 compare to other same segment bike, plus the ABS is the next big thing manufacturer's are looking forward after cubic capacity, so it will be a very wise & correct decision to invest in ABS afterall WHAT'S ABSOLUTE FURY, WITHOUT ABSOLUTE CONTROL?Last edited by shahbaz63; 12-06-2012, 11:35 PM.
