Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
Oh brother, you worry too much. duke is just a bike, it is you who is in control of the power even if you ride a fireblade or a scooty. It will always be you, controlling the bike, not the other way round. you will be controlling the throttle and the brakes. And as you said you ride your current bike pretty well, so dont worry. Be gentle at first, till you get used to it and then give it the beans. All the best. Also do tell us how the test drive went.Originally posted by TheMost View PostI would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
I suggested him Duke because from choices to choose from the CBR because of its fairing and slightly low handlebars would cause a problem in city traffic than the upright sitting posture of the Duke.Originally posted by RSM2852 View PostDuke for city??? Seriously?? It's a pain to ride in bumper to bumper traffic,NS is just perfectly geared for city usage.
Thread-starter I wont suggest you a Duke 200, not a P200NS either ,they are just too powerful for a rookie especially when you are upgrading from CD100 and have 0-experienxe of riding any other bike which is 'Performance-oriented'. I would suggest you to go for CBR150R or an R15, They have got everything you want. Regarding cheao switchgear, Does it matter??? CD100 doesnt have a Kill switch either, it's not aproblem especially when you get an excellently engineered DOHC motor that too from Honda. Else 200NS is your best bet but it's too powerful consudering your query.
And please note that the Duke and NS are not that powerful that they cant be handled by any newbie. I also upgraded from a Passion pro (same engine as of CD 100) to the NS, and never did I feel that I cant handle the power.

They are still considerably powerful for a newbie, even R15 can give goosebumbs from a 110cc upgrade, I don't mean it will powerwheelie, the key is one needs to be in total senses to control them, unlike most of our countrymenOriginally posted by shrey1992 View PostI suggested him Duke because from choices to choose from the CBR because of its fairing and slightly low handlebars would cause a problem in city traffic than the upright sitting posture of the Duke.

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
CBR150r - Fully Faired bike that you initially fell in love with. Engine refinement, build quality, reliability and mileage is very good on the CBR. I can push my 250 to give me the mileage you talk about... that way if you ride the ceeber in a non-aggressive fasion, expect good mileage. Also its a very well balanced bike.
R15 - Again a fully faired bike which you like. This again is a fantastic option, riders love it, yamaha reliability and the engine sings like a tuning fork... you cant help falling in love with Yamahas. But since rear seat is kind of an issue with you on this bike, you'll have to think about it.
Duke 200 - Well built Naked by the KTM guys. highly loved by aggressive riders due to the lightness, rigid frame and control it can offer. Makes it a pleasure to ride. And you got 200cc instead of 150 on this one.
Pulsar NS200 - Very much like the Duke, slightly more indigenous to India. As in possibly more adaptive to city/pillion riding and leg position could be more adaptive to how we as Indians are used to riding. Whereas CBR and R15 all have a sports or sports tourer oriented riding position. Don't forget to give this one a test.
As you mentioned yourself bro, its about the rider unless you're considering technology like the Ducati Multistrada with D-Air System which can make a slight difference without rider impetus... My suggestion is to not ride with fear, forget the rules for once, you seem to be a non-aggressive, humble rider so you're good to learn to be a little braver... and start actually having fun with your bike. What i mean is, buy some protective gear, take her to an empty unused stretch of road or a field/empty lorry depot somewhere and skid around a bit... give her some beans... this will help you recognise your bike better in road panic situations because you'd know how much you can push your ride (braking, upshifts, controlling while rear wheel is locked etc)... knowledge will throw light on the darkness thats fear... which should help you to be a better, more confident rider. Essential to replace fear with knowledge and confidence for riding... especially in our country.

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
no bike is considered as powerful. I was riding a Kinetic Honda when I jumped to Karizma in 2003.. it all depends on how you take it... if that is the case, when will he buy a bigger bike?? Just a scenario.. going by your words, for an upgrade over my ZMR to a 600+ cc bike is too risky? I am a newbie as well for a 600 cc bike.. I am sure I wont have control over it till i practice riding it.. I remember my first test ride of the Duke 390.. I let go of the clutch the same way I do on my ZMR and the bike turns off.. this happened the second time as well.. the 3rd time I left the clutch properly and the bike moved..Originally posted by RSM2852 View PostThey are still considerably powerful for a newbie, even R15 can give goosebumbs from a 110cc upgrade, I don't mean it will powerwheelie, the key is one needs to be in total senses to control them, unlike most of our countrymen

I don't think the Thread starter is a newbie.. its just he is scared looking at the cc figures.. the person has to learn to control the bike which is most important.. It takes practice so let him get a Duke or a P200NS and start riding it in open roads.. let him get used to the bike and then start riding it in city.. the ZMR is a huge bike and they say its hard to manure in traffic.. I sure can easily manure as I am used to it..
besides.. you call 23-25 bhp as a powerful bike?? in which country??

That country is India Reneav
, I suggested Thread starter a bike based on the title which reads something like an awesome looking bike and as far as looks are concerned ( if u spare sbks),than i dont think there is something better than R15 V2.0 and they are good enough for starter, okay he isn't a rookie but he is new to so called 'desi-sports' bikes
, Let us leave it to the threadstarter on what bike he really wants

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
Very happy to see so much good people in this forum.
Couldn't find time to test ride the bikes this week.Had classes from morning 8.30 to evening 6.30 pm
I will try to test ride as soon as i can.
At the same time today one of my friend tried to convince me to buy a classic 350.
I was always fond of the sound of the enfield - to be frank i even like my CD 100 sound especially when i push it hard at high gear and low RPMs - that makes people turn back and look at least once !
I am also having an idea to test ride the Classic - at least from my friend
However i dont think the bike would fit me.I weigh 68kg and 176cm ( averagely built )
I will test ride ASAP (possibly this weekend) and report back.
Thank you all once again !

with all the vibrations and heat from the engine, its going to be a HOT ride during summer..
I had the HOTTEST ride of my life when my friend back in May 2013 dropped me to the IGI airport in Delhi from Sector 62 Noida.. Heavy traffic.. I had to keep my right leg safely as the silencer can melt my shoe and reach my flesh
The bike got too HOT and the vibrations of the bike got my lower part of the body behave awkward.. that feeling you get when you get diarrhea.. I asked him to park the bike to the side.. got down and cooled myself down.. Phewwww... the heat from the silencer itself was suffice to fry me.. think about the engine..
Well, this reminds me of another incident with the same bike.. my friend and my colleague were going home after office hours.. the owner is my friend and the other guy wanted to ride it.. he had the bag hanging on the handle bar.. due to excess heat, the bag caught fire.. luckily nothing serious happened other than the bag catching fire..
also, there is some major problems with RE.. reliability issues and horrible after sales service along with maintenance issues.. oh yeah.. Be ready for some heavy vibrations..
To be frank, the bike isn't easy to manure around in the city.. on highways, people prefer it thanks to the torque it produces.. on mountains, the bike is a pleasure to ride thanks to all that torque in that 350cc pot
but if you are a city ride, I am not sure if it is a good choice..
Anyways, the opinion differs from person to person, so ride it and see if you are comfortable with it.. coming from a Honda Engine, you might find the RE a VIBRATOR

At this point i am striking RE away from the list.
Now i am inclined towards the CBR 150 ( I dont want r15 )
What about the ridablity of CBR 150 in the city ?
Also what would be the difference between FZ and CBR ? Will there be huge difference in performance other than fairing ?

, correct me if I'm wrong.
Thread starter CBR150 is an awesome bike, I never rode it in city but have rode it for 10 minutes on NH72 and it's superduperrefined, revvy and the engine sound is music to ears.
I'm not sure about rideablility in city considering it's low torque figure.

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
Guys,
I rang to 2 honda dealers in chennai.
They say that cbr150 production has been stopped and the new version will be coming in some 4 months.
Should i wait or go for R15 / Fz FI something like that ?

Re: An Awesome looking bike after owning a CD100
I called honda customer care and enquired about the production stuff. They said that cbr150r is a very successful model and they have not stopped the production. However he also added that he didn't receive any information about the new upcoming cbr 150.
However i found this
I liked the palm green very much and convinced me to get one- but i am getting hurdles
I thought if they release a new cbr150 which was jaw dropping, then i could sell the present one and get new one.

Just so that a fellow biker isn't shallow later, I would like to reiterate - reconsider the R15 V2.0 if your girlfriend is okay.
PS - Pelt the bike in a test ride & it will blow your brains out.
