For 95%* owners it sure doesn't cut the cake of being the 'perfect' Motorcycle.

^^ I have no qualms shifting gears and I use revs more than most. If I start riding the RTR-180 the way I ride the R15, the RTR would be wheeling almost everywhere

and Mr. ZeNashB, tell your friend that he might be running leaner.

PLUS, i accept that RTR has vibrations. But, u shouldn't exaggerate that thing which misleads people. and get your facts right dude. it doesn't even give a hint of vibrations @ the RPM range u mentioned, i.e., 6.5K. it just vibrated in the range of 45-65 kmph and after that itz silky smooth even at 120kmph.

Hope you got your information database updated.

            @ThreadStarter:

dude, just 2 things i would like to tell u as an unbiased suggestion.

RTR -> quicker(as it takes a lead in the initial time)... and i call it as RAW POWER (the vibes add weight to the word "raw" but i m having NO problem due to those vibes).

R15 -> much advanced tech. the whole magic lies cross 6K RPM. it will give u the feeling of a big bike at high speeds. but in the city ride, u will have to change gears frequently.

pick the one which suits u.

Hmmm, you have a good point. My friend's RTR just vibrates like crazy dude. Its literally unbeareable to sit on after 6.5k RPM. Cannot rev it past that limit. There are sounds like 'ddrrrrrrr' that emanate from the fairing and under-seat area. Anyway, it must be just his bike that is vibrating like that? Its just around 6 months old and the vibrations started after the 2nd service. I dunno, sorry for generalizing. I apologize!

But I do remember reading in the BIKE mag a couple of months ago that they couldn' t push the bike to its limits in the track test because the vibrations removed all confidence... must have read it wrong (no sarcasm intended)

P.S: Who does a 0 to 60 KMPH drag? And I am waiting for the TVS ''Sample compound C'' tires to be released! I want them on my bike
Hmm, may be he needs to get all the bolts tightened. not sure, but try this.

what?... that made me laugh for a minute... its totally ridiculous... a guy who is honoured to get the bikes tested and write reviews lost his confidence in a raw powerful machine due to the vibrations i would advise those kind of people to stop testing performance bikes (no intentions to attack on any particular tester/rider)

            seems interesting

Dio is actually more fun..It doesn't pop-up easily and R15 owners will love it as an upgrade.Of course, riding in city..Don't take it to track though..

While I can take my RTR to track as well as ride it in the city at just half the price..Won't bother me if I am slower by 2 or 3 seconds around track as on the flip side,I've saved (30k+ 45K(Dio)..

                    And it's more fun...

Okay before you gun me down on that..I think R15 has it's own good and bad points..RTR has more bad than good points..But somehow it's as much a satisfying bike as the R15.
I am an owner of the RTR and I'd always talk about traffic, torque and Noise..You are the R15 lover..and your weapons are- handling, technology, track and superiority..Fairing,of course is an added bonus..

We could fight day-in and day long on this..We all know we are headed NOWHERE!..

                    Happy Riding...
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

I havent ridden R15 as extensively as the RTR in city so i cant further comment.

But at the end of the day R15 is a better motocycle than the RTR 180/RTR160/FI.

                      • Here goes my two cents.

I have never ridden an RTR in the first place. But i love its grunt and looks.. If you ride only in city(mud flap to front mud guard traffic conditions ) then RTR is the best, given its shorter length and the mid range torque it produces. But i have heard about the vibes the machine produces when you ride at 4-5K rpms which is the speed you drive in city conditions that might be irritating for the rider and pillion.

I own a R15, i dint buy it because i had loads of money, i had to procure loans to get my bike. I bought it for what the bike offers. Having driven my friend's R15 on highway i loved every second i rode on the bike. Its amazing stability in cross winds, handling at corners, the racing stance of the bike. etc , etc. About the sore butt and wrist pains its just a matter of time to get used to the riding stance of R15. Yes, Initially (for few 100 KMS) you will feel the wrist pain but will get adjusted to the riding stance eventually. And i havent come across a bike that keeps my butt cool after riding 100 of kms in a single day.

Though i dont quite agree to some views of certain aggressive RTR owners please do keep it simple and dont hand out sarcasm to our fellow members.

At the end it boils down to the person buying the bike. If you are more of a city rider RTR is the one to go for. If you do ride on highways R15 is the machine to look out for.

                        • coming from someone who owns both I would say go for both ---

very different & lots fun they are

Ok on a serious note--an R15 certainly seems a better choice -- I am happy with the rtr for what it offers but getting back on the 15 makes me smile yet again
