I dont know what makes you think like that. The GS doesnt has any speed figures even close to that. It can only beat the fz, SZ or disco 150 in a race. Its somewhere around 108-110kmph. If you do not believe me then check any issue of bike india or overdrive.
the spped DK bhau mentioned was what the speedometer indicated....
Well about the speeds mentioned over there(mags),it all depends on the rider.....for the bhandardara friendship day G2G we had 2 GS one was mine and the other was erBalaji's we had different sense of riding so he cruised at 90kmph on mumbai pune expressway while i did a 120+kmph on the same route with him....and he said "tera bike itna kaise jaata hai.....mera kyun nahi jaata....."and see MACH50's videos on youtube with his GS doing a 131kmph....even if these japs have a 5% of tolerance it comes out to be nearly 124kmph....

for the thread starter.....i just went through the thread.....and would like to suggest you only one thing HIGHWAy=GS and CITY=HUNK.....the GS what I ride is around 1 year old....and still people ask me "nayi bike kya??" at the railway crossing....(here in kalyan, mumbai there are more railway crossings than the signals....)i am sort of lucky to have a svc nearby so the after sales service is not an issue for me atleast....even the parts are readily available unlike the dazzler....i hope you have gone through the dazzler thread....as well as the GS thread.....

since you already have test rode the GS,i dont know why you never liked it(depends from person to person)or may be the one you rode might not be in mint condition.....
it is my first bike....i learned riding a bike on a GS......my brother test rode other vehicles for me when we went to buy......trust me....the weight issue is not at all there for me.....i weigh just 63kgs.....maybe because of the height factor you would be feeling that.....but there are people on xbhp who are 5-4' and still drive comfortably.....people claim that it is a slow bike but ask bharat kumar when we sprinted on his P220 and my GSwhile returning from the velneshwar ride and JNPT road toll naka.....though it has got less power only 13.8 bhp still it gives decent performance over other 150cc leave R15 aside its a different story....awesome street prescence people still feel its and imported bike(thats the condition in mumbai)...the build quality is good.....it has a provision for mounting a customised fairing......you can give it a sporty look if you want....seating is comfy next to the best tourer zma.....it has the 6th gear.....it has three modes eco(for maximum mileage),power(for maximum power) and a GOD mode(many people still dont know about it)even after it is a 68k motorcycle it does have all those features(not engine capacity) which you expect a 3-4 lac bike must have......now all these are positives but negatives.....they are also there......the headlight......is not adequate for the highway use(you can use a osram nightbreaker 55/60w doing some loadshedding in the headlamp assy).....the console vibrates with the slightest of road rumble......engine roughness comes in if the engine oil provided by the svc is 1k old....(use motul or gulf and it is solved...)....the turning angle is just 45degrees which is a bit less.....it gives false reserves.......if it is parked on a side stand then the fuel indicator shows more fuel.....
(this is my short review on GS...i wont comment anything on hunk as i havent rode one)
my Siggy and DP shows what i own!!!(just in case if you think it does not turn heads 180degree)
Any thing else if you need just PM me.....

you don't actually keep 120 speeds all the time in any ride.

what it implies that its a good city bike as well as sufficient for tours too without too much of fuss & stress

          hmm.. So many informative replies...

          @ maestro

Maybe the GS150 was in a bad condition. But then again it seemed to be the new 2010 model with XTP written on it. How can a new bike feel that way even before completing its first anniversary?

I rode in heavy traffic, with the fuel indicator showing only ONE bar. Still the confidence in negotiating the traffic was poor.. Maybe you should test drive the UNICORN DAZZLER then you will see my point or you are never in a hurry to reach your destination so you are yet to discover your bike.

Even a NEWBIE can ride at top speeds on straight roads, but moving slow in traffic, negotiating it without losing balance and calmness, expecting the moves of other vehicles and getting it right is a skilled biker.

For your knowledge XTP was writen even on old model gs and 2009 model gs has the XTP technology too.

You know well about your bike similar way we do..

Promote your bike by telling its merit points but not by giving false info on other bike if your claim on dazzler is true means then why still pulsor tops the chart ?
and if dazzler is too good allrounder then why honda still didn't stopped the production of old unicorn aka CB unicorn?
And everyone knows even on styling part dazzler is no match to the awesome yamaha FZ ?

Those who reviewed gs150r never said it lacks confidence your the first one to say so refer bikeindia or any review on gs150r.

May be you are not confident while driving gs which is almost 15 kg more weight than dazzler.

Enfield bullet which is almost 185kg weight in your term will you call it as a machine unfit for driving.

LOL.. Enfield .. I ride it every now and then, my friends.. no complaints there.. and no issues with confidence and its ROYAL in every sense.

If you are setting your mind just because some magazine said so..
I don't think there's anything worse than that..

My mistake about the XTP, still.. a bike that's nearly one yr old and that's run only 150kms.. it wasn't impressive
And unicorn is not my bike.. and I am not promoting any here..

The topic should be closed only after I test drive HUNK and post my first reviews about it.

                Imported Bike?
it has a provision for mounting a customised fairing......you can give it a sporty look if you want....
It has street presence & looks like an import, so why customize?
three modes eco(for maximum mileage),power(for maximum power) and a GOD mode(many people still dont know about it)even after it is a 68k motorcycle it does have all those features(not engine capacity) which you expect a 3-4 lac bike must have......
                GOD Mode

Care to share some more info, 3-4 lac bikes, even 30-40lakh bikes don't have this feature. God Mode..

I am sorry but I dont find any need to tell any one about their own bike.
As I said personally I feel all 150cc's barring R15 struggle and dont cruise (stress-free?) at speeds above 90kmph and GS150R is no exception to that even with the 6th gear is my point. I had R15, I had and have CBZ Xtreme and I know what each are capable of and how each other can catch up on tours. On the basis of ownership of Xtreme I am vouching on Hunk. I dont have any thing against GS150R, it was one of my choice while going for my Xtreme for 2nd time. But certain things in GS150R were not to my taste (and other reasons), so avoided it.

And I read about GOD MODE here in one of the posts! Please enlighten me on this feature.

Go for test drive of Hunk and do post your replies here. Dazzler, Hunk, RTR, FZ(s), Unicorn are excellent handlers in city and highways followed by others.

I dont understand why you think those guys over such reputed magazines like overdrive & bike india are fools. For your information biking is just your interest while it is their profession. So who would be more precise?? They simply dont conclude the top speeds of the bike. They both have claimed a near equal figures of around 110kmph.

Your post rather shows fanboism than a comparo. Just 6th gear isnt enough to get such top speeds. If your bike is achieving 124kmph then the ZMA should be ashamed to achieve such speeds as 126kmph inspite of those additional 70cc.

Any 150 (by 150, I do not mean a R15) will have very minuscule difference in acceleration/top speed. In real worlds, you might not make out, true?

Dazzler, Hunk, RTR, FZ(s), Unicorn are excellent handlers in city and highways followed by others.
FZ is the king of handling followed by Dazzler/RTR (180 is good, lengthy swing-arm and 17" at both ends compared to the odd 17"/18" making you feel that you are 'on' it.

Who are you saying it to?ask any mumbai guy about the traffic we face daily!and i will see to it that i get the test ride as soon as the next dazzler lot arrives at the showroom.Regarding hurry, you will always find me sprinting(hmmmmm, thats the reason why i get less mileage)

If you are setting your mind just because some magazine said so..
I don't think there's anything worse than that..

all those experts in magazines said was not just simple writings they are trained and experienced in testing bikes

New Hunk is good bike HH quality is somewhat better that Honda unicorn plastics

it seems the back disk is optional just check out

My mistake about the XTP, still.. a bike that's nearly one yr old and that's run only 150kms.. it wasn't impressive
And unicorn is not my bike.. and I am not promoting any here..

The topic should be closed only after I test drive HUNK and post my first reviews about it.
