Point 2 i what i follow when cornering.Originally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostAla uttar mala...
Okay here goes...
1) Do we grip the tank on a R15 with our scrotum sack about to burst
or
2) Do we sit all the way behind till the monkey bone touches the pillion seat.
or
3) Sit midway
I know that lower body plays a major role in handling the bike. But Posture is where I **** up.
Ok, so?
On our last ride to lavasa i was feeling very nervous and felt like the front would give at any moment; i was sitting midway.
Moved my self all the way back, and the change was instant i was completely confident while taking even the sharp U turns on the way to lavasa and back
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

@eshan - simple query from my side : From the time you got your R15, how many times you have been to lavasa. Are you trying to improvise the body positioning by going to lavasa every weekend or no ? If you not practising cornering every weekend till you are confident and improve the body positioning than no matter how much answers you get here it will be waste of time for everyone here.
Secondly regarding the rear wheel slip while downshifting while entering corners know your bikes capability and tyres condition including the pressure. if you are on 70 and suddenly you downshift the rear whell slide is gonna happen so try to take downshifting at bit lower speeds and control the slides and gradually improve.

As you mentioned rear slipping due to down shifting it is due to INERTIA or simply wrong RPM to downshift so it is basically an SR where he is charging the turns and then he brakes and reduces speed by further downshifting which leads the rear tyre to slip.
its not due to tyre pressure which you mentioned which will affect even in city riding if you say so

Regarding your SR and wrong RPM shifting are the later part while i am talking of the basic checkups, as when you say shifting in wrong rpm leads to slid so shifting in right rpm is the key how you control it so thats what i told him to learn slowly right.Originally posted by sidmclaren View PostSorry to intervene in your discussion

@Shrinath: What's SR?
@Eshan: When you downshift, your rear wheel skid because your rear wheel speed and engine speed doesn't match. After downshifting, when you let go the clutch, the mismatch between engine speed and rear wheel speed is the reason for the rear wheel to lockup (and skid) a bit - trying to match up with the engine speed.
The solution for this is to blip the throttle a bit before down downshift. How much to blip the throttle, you will learn by practice.2000 Suzuki Fiero | 2004 Bullet Electra | 2004 RX135 | 2005 CBZ | 2009 Karizma | 2009 Punto 1.4 Petrol | 2011 Yamaha YZF-R15

Eshan - Imagine on a straight road your bike is at a speed of 90 kmph in fifth gear and you down shift to 4 without reducing the speed, the bike will wobbles until it the speed of tyre and engine matches. Same is case on corners just that since your is not upright but slanted.
