actually i love forts very much and want to explore all the forts nearby pune - mumbai region. so it will be going by bikes till the road permits and then trekking. some forts have roads right up to top whereas some requires fair bit of trekking, and some even technical climb.
i usually go with my wife and want some more biker buddies to join in.
mostly on sundays and public holidays.
later on we can plan overnight camping also.
    Hi Prince,
For a start you can visit the forts in the vicinity of Pune, if your sole purpose is trekking rather than a long ride.
I did Lohgad, Visapur & Tung alone. Lohgad has been like start of every rainy season. But I loved the trek to Visapur, especially when it is raining. The entire route is filled with small water streams, truly refreshing.
Tung is easy too. Nothing much too see, but less crowded as compared to other two.
At the base village you can park your bikes & also have excellent food.

But my sincere opinion if you love trekking & have love for nature, join few good trekking groups. You will see yourself going to the places which are known to the locals but not known to the public! I have few contacts of really good groups, if interested then PM me.

And do not forget to read about the forts you visit so that you will undretsand the historic importance & places to see. There are many remains on these forts, which people do overlook or do not understand what they really are.

i have already visited the most common forts around pune many times,.... still do it every year... since i enjoy... i have been in pune since last 8 years or so.

i love both biking and trekking, so i ride upto the point road allows and then trek. sometimes it is a complete ride only since road leads to to fort like sinhgad or purandhar. at some other forts you need to trek.

regarding trekking groups, i know them well, and used to do treks with "yuvashakti" some 6 years ago.

whenever i visit a fort i study it first and take a map of fort along with me.

so what i actually need is partners, most preferably couples, so that it can be more fun.

        anybody interested.

I don't think so. Originally, a price of about 5.75L had been estimated for the Bonneville. That time too as now, Triumph was to get it into India in the CKD format. 3 bikes were to come as CKD - the Bonnie, Speed Triple and Street Triple. The others including the XC (@#$%^&* Triumph) were to come as CBU.

I don't know if import duty on the assemblies for CKD bikes as been increased in the budget. If so, then yes, the bike would be costlier but not as bad as the the Ducati series. Triumph has enough worries as it were to handle one more in the form of price.

Hmmnn... well...it seems you missed some action...

here it is- some members of xbhp, do marketing of the stuff they sell, on xbhp, and even go on to the point that they give misleading information or half truth kind of information to novice members and these novice members generally believe that truth is where the general flow is going. now these marketing ppl doesn't like if somebody tries to post correct information or tries to question them. these marketing ppl generally do not like to indulge in serious technical discussion and stay clear of it, if you try hold any serious discussion, they indulge in personal attacks and talks in a language belittleing you. i have been in several such incidents, and now it has come to the point that i have decided not to take part or try to start any serious discussion, just read, enjoy, say hi hello, and thats it....atleast till some time.

there are also some members, who think that all my posts are useless and i post just to increase my post count. these members attack me personally from time to time for no reason at all, and will simply jump in to attack me personally, even though they are not a part of the discussion. some of these members even try to do so on facebook. now since you have asked, i will present my side of the picture- you must be aware that some ppl like to hang out on facebook, these ppl are always online and all there electronic gadgets are synced with facebook to give them sec by sec update, and whatever happens in there life instantly gets updated on facebook more often with a photo or a video even trivial incidents like "had dinner"... going to sleep etc etc... in a similar way my fav hangout place is xbhp, so i am online a lot of time, just because i love bikes. biking and xbhp. and when you are online a lot time, your posts are bound to increase and its not the other way round. man i am also a normal person with job, family and lot of things to do...i am not online most of the time just to increase my post count, c'mon there are better things in life. besides show me a single person whos all posts are technically valuable only.

so .. i have been under a lot of personal attacks due to above two reasons and i feel i did not get proper justice by mods, even after informing them that some particular member is attacking me again and again for no reason at all.. maybe because they also have a business to run.

till now i have tried to remain calm and composed even during extreme personal attack, but after last episode i decided that enough is enough.

that is why -- to all those who think i am here just to increase my posts let it be. and to all those who think they can attack me personally and get away with it.. try it next time and i will show you.

sorry for taking up so much space and time.

even i dont like that line in my signature... but somehow.. it seems .. now i need a visible deterent ...

Your explanation is thought-provoking. I have never been the target of any online attacks, personal or otherwise and so cannot comment with authority on what you may have experienced. To me, there is always another face of the coin, another version of the story. I did see you getting razzed in some discussion but did not pitch in with my views. Perhaps, if and when we meet personally, our interaction could shed further light on your issues and perspectives.

Since you are quite active on xBhp, could you please info me about the bookings for the Triumphs coming up supposedly in Sep 2013? Thanks in advance.

in my personal opinion, it may take longer to launch then September. and you need to consider the number of sales & service outlets also.

The 675? But that is a standard street sports type of bike. I thought, from your choice of the N650 that you were more into the sports cruiser category.

The Daytona 675 -> 126 bhp @ 12500 RPM, 74 NM @ 11900 RPM vs the N650 -> 71 bhp@8500 RPM, 66 Nm@ 7000 RPM. Imagine the levels of stress the D is under. Yes, an additional cylinder helps alleviate some of the strain but in turn adds its own complexities. Two bikes, seemingly similar due to equivalent swept volumes but as different in real life as chalk is from cheese.

Considering the kind of competition that Triumph is heading up against in India, I foresee sensible prices for the Bonnie, the Street Triple and the Daytona as a function of their CKD range. The rest of the lot is likely to be CBUed and therefore, prices would be at the wrong end of the redline!

See, whymail, people like us - the white collar salaried class - cannot afford to spend 6 odd lac rupees every now and then for admittedly objects of purely desire (and lust - drool, drool, slobber, slobber) like expensive motorcycles. We may contemplate changing cars of a similar price-point once every 7 or 8 years but not bikes, not for me at least. So a motorcycle costing 6 lacs will be with me for about 10 to 12 years.

What becomes critical here is that my choice has to be such that I will still be able to derive delight from this acquisition even at that age. That is, the bike ages with me. You get it? The bike - be it a Daytona or an N650 or a Bonnie - has stayed the same. It will be I who would have changed, mostly for the worse. My strength, energy, vision, reflexes et al would be significantly lesser in my 60s vis-a-vis my forties. Therefore, I may get a huge kick in the pants out of a street/ super sports type now but the duration of this experience would be very less even now, now that I am in my forties. In my sixties, the bike would force me to emulate my younger bros which would be both dangerous and out of sync. A time would come when I might even make excuses to NOT ride it and that would sound the death knell for the motorcycle aficionado in me. It would be the worst fate ever to overtake a motorcycle rider - to make an excuse to not ride his bike when, in his halcyon days, the absolute reverse held good.

I carried out an exercise yesterday. I got a large colour print of the Bonnie, pasted it on a piece of hardboard and stood it in my garage. Then, I gave it a look askance. And asked myself this question. After another 15 odd years, will THIS bike ask me, as I walk into the garage, " Listen, you old coot, I am the only object you can ride well at your age. So tell the old hag to zip it, grab a six pack, get your fags and your pills and lets get the fark out of here so that both of us can breathe deeply of each other's joie de vivre." And I found the bike telling me all of this and much more, with more colourful language than is allowed on this forum (come to think of it, writing expletives seems somehow more vulgar when there are a lot of asterisks!)

If the N650 does this to you, it is for you. Ditto for just about any such motorcycle which is acquired for itself and not to satisfy the need for non-manual locomotion.

Said a lot, but that is what I thought
