  • Chalo Rajmachi!
    Sunday 8th January, 2012

Yes yes, we know the "right" season to do Rajmachi is the rainy season. However, if you are willing to do breakfast rides to Lonavala every 2 weeks, Rajmachi is a good-better option too.

    So stop whining,
    the sun is shining,
    Come one, come all,
Everyone will get a chance to fall,
    Don't push, don't fight
Everyone will get a bamboo up his bike.

    Tentative list:
    Mastermind
    Alankar
    DK
    Ninu
    Saurabhjd
    RoadZilla
    Rahul

PS: Both Ninu and I will be carrying our Hi-fi Hi-def cameras so if you want to be a 5 start super star, do not miss!

        • R15 is sold (*cough*)

RTR needs a new Throttle cable, Chain sprocket, New Clutch cable, Front disk pad, and tune up. Which I doubt I can close before the ride (Considering 7th am going to be busy )

Haan so bring it and IF and when he sees it, tell him it came like that only in the packing. It's not your fault. Chal naa, you'll have a chance to fix it if something goes wrong. To be honest, it won't be that big a deal re. I mean, if you remember the terrain it was only challenging cause of the muck. Otherwise its doable.

                          • Hola people of bombay!

Good luck with the Rajmachi plan.. Hope its kick ass!

Now here's the deal: I need to get to Andheri tomorrow afternoon but i have no idea about the roads at all.. So..

                            1) Is it advisable to go from panvel/vashi to andheri on the bike? (in terms of distance and traffic and the irritability factor)

                            2) even if its not advisable, if you're patient enough, please give me an idea about the route i should take.. 9028517919 if you have patience + a big heart

If its too complicated then i'll just take a train or bus and/or local..

EDIT: google maps helps but nothing like human advice..

EDIT2: Rony helped me out.. Thanks a lot..

I am planning a ride sometime in next two days covering NH17 and NH4.
This is the route i have in my mind: R B Kadam Rd, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to Alibag Rd - Google Maps

This will include a stay at Sajjangad fort and tentatively to Kolhapur (might give it a miss).

I need your suggestions on three points.
                              • Route taken: Any suggestions to alter the route for better roads/ scenic veiws in welcomed.
                              • Arrangements for stay at Sajjangad.

Any other suggestions are also welcomed

PS: The start point is my home and the end point my Native place

Shri Samarth Seva Mandal maintains the place and also provide rooms for staying free of cost (usually people who stay there pay some amount as donation). The rooms are clean and separate for men and women.

Regarding the route, I guess instead of NH3 you meant NH17 which is surely scenic but not as smooth and safe as NH4. I suggest you should stick to NH4 only.

I completed this journey: Mumbai-Satara-Kolhapur-Alibaug in the last week of December.

29 Dec: Mumbai-Sajjangad (NH4). Overnight stay at Sajjangad

30 Dec: Sajjangad-Chaphal-Kolhapur-Chaphal (NH4 and some SH): Got a room at Chaphal and then left for Kolhapur. Did a quick tour to Panhala and was back to Chaphal. Ovenight stay at Chaphal.

31 Dec: Chaphal-Medha-Mahabaleshwar-Poladpur-Alibaug (NH4 + NH17 +SH ) Explored Chaphal and via the Medha village reached Mahabaleshwar. Decended to Poladpur and rode till my Native place near Alibaug.

@Rony, thanks for encouraging me to halt at Sajjangad. Loved it.
@Nikhil, Sajjangad was not that chilling. I learnt from the locals that, temperatures were not that low as they are around this time of the year.

Does somebody has a GPS route/track for the off roading or at least starting point. Will be going there on 13/14th. Is it the same trek route?
