Thanks. Unfortunately, I wont be able to make it this time.Originally posted by RAK View PostVisited Aurangabad last week. My friends reached there a day earlier due to leave constraints I reached the next day.
Day 1: Start from Mumbai (5 AM) - Kasara Ghat - Ghoti - Sinnar - Aurangabad (11 AM). Met my friends there and started for Lonar again.
Aurangabad - Lonar - Aurangabad
Total distance travelled by me on Day 1: 670 Kms
Road conditions on NH3 are amazing. Ghoti-Sinnar is also nice. Sinnar - Kopargaon is in Ok condition and Kopargaon to Aurangabad is in Bad state. Better avoid this route.
I would suggest you take Mumbai - Chakan - Ahmednagar - Aurangabad route (which we took on return journey). This route is in awesome condition and you can easily keep triple digit speeds here.
Nothing much to see near Lonar and the distance from Aurangabad is also a concern if you plan on the same day.
Dont miss Daulatabad fort. Its one of the best and well maintained forts in Maharashtra.
On Day 2 we did Daulatabad, Ellora and Ghrishneshwar.
On Day 3: Panchakki, Biwi Ka Maqbara and return trip via Ahmednagar.
Rony, I might join you for this trip. Just that my bank account status at month-ends dont support my overnight tripsOriginally posted by Rony View PostThanks for this info. I am also planning to do this on 23-24-25 march (if heat is not much). I will avoid Kopargaon route. Ahmednagar route is really awesome, did it few months ago by car, planning to do it on return leg.
.
You start the game with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience... The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck.

I would agree with all people who said that the Chakan route to Aurangabad is best. The roads are wonderful from Auranagabad to Chakan and vice versa, you can easily maintain triple digit speeds.
2yrs ago, one fine friday, i woke up in the morning and packed for Aurangabad. I had been working up the courage for an adventurous long ride, but that day i was like phuck it, now or never. My main objectives were to see Ellora and Ajanta. However after reaching there, i went everywhere accept Ajanta, as i didnt feel like riding a further 100kms to Ajanta.
I set off at 1000hrs went via Nashik reached Aurangabad at 2000hrs. After reaching Nashik there is this right turn somewhere which puts you on the straight road towards Aurangabad. This road is narrow and has vineyards on both sides for a long stretch, enchanting but not very smooth. I stopped at a lone tea place, made of blonde straws, when i was nearly an hour away from sunset and maybe 2 hours away from aurangababd. Rested for 20-30mins and moved on. After sometime Hotel California started playing through my earphones, and thinking of the ghosts on that dark and narrow road with vineyards on either side was the best feeling i had.
Buddi lane is good for lodging {but drinking may not be permissible} and food. Lots of meat dishes, there is a place also serving beef. Oh yh dont forget Aurangabad caves, most tourists think ellora and aurangabad caves are the same. Plus ellora caves are a good 20kms before aurangabad, from where you have to go up quite a bit for ellora, daulatabad fort and mahismal towers etc. Also the only good petrol pump in aurangabad is the Bharat petrol pump where you can get premium-speed petrol, rest dont have premium fuel.
While coming back i decided to take the route via Pune, despite everyone advising me not to
. I found the roads were too awesome, so flat and wide that i felt guilty not to maintain triple digits. You could feel yourself get drunk on speed, beware. When i started i didnt know there was a pune bypass at Chakan. I found this out just a few meters before i had to take a right turn for it. I had stopped for tea, and whenever i do, i always gather a bit of intel about the roads ahead, detours and any POIs. When i began i was thinking of sleeping at a mates place in pune, but by then i really wanted to cocoon in my own bed. So i took the detour. Reached home before 2200hrs, i had started at 1400hrs.
Start friday back sunday.I look my best when I take my helmet off after a long motorcycle ride. I have a glow and a broad grin. -JHW

P.S. I havent forgotten about the rajmachi stuff that you were editing..when is going to be up ?
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Agreed about the dull picture quality! Somehow the color correction went off when I uploaded it to YouTube! Looks ok on my local machine. Oh well, lesson learnt ;-) Will try and have a higher gamma next time I upload it to YouTube.Originally posted by nin View Post@alankar bhaiya...i was watching the video alongside...though i found it to be very dull (picturewise) i loved the audio song in background and the concept of the video...the way it has been presented...

Rajmachi video is happening next... no wait... I have a lot of footage of the Amby valley bit which I couldn't put into this video due to time constraints, will make one of that and THEN work on Rajmachi. Couldn't take your clips from Datye, woh bhi karna hai. Hoyega hoyega!

Ha ha no I'd prefer the raw footage cause otherwise there's a quality degradation (taking it from YouTube that is). Raw footage will be sabse best. I'll speak to Datye and figure out how I can get the footage from him.Originally posted by nin View PostI promise uske pehle main apna edit karke upload kar doonga (video) !
