Hi everyone!!! I am new on xbhp & I just want to know that I am planning to go for a short sprint of 200 kms one side. We have 3 bikes namely avenger 220, rtr 180 abs and a discover 100 5g with 3 pillions. We are planning for Kolkata to digha(a sea beach 190 kms from Kolkata).And my query is that if the discover can manage it with a pillion(provided 15 mins break each 1 hr). The route is mainly 40 percent NH 6(4 lane) and the rest is oneway roads. And if it is possible then from what time we shall start if we intend to reach there by 11am(25.3.16) & we shall return by 27.3. 16. I have done this types of driving on my wagon r but no experience on a two wheeler so GURUS would you please help me!!!

Should not be a problem. Just keep in mind some things.
Don't rip your Discover too much. Don't fall into the temptation of keeping with the other two bikes. They have bigger displacements.
Keep your speed within 70 kmph.
Lube the chain well.
Keep the tyre pressure optimal.
Give at least two breaks.

Actually both the discover and the rtr are owned by me. And I will be riding the rtr.

We have planned for a riding order i.e. the avenger with the most cautious rider(my brother in law) will lead followed by the discover (a newbie who has just got his DL and is my friend) & I will be following the discover. Our maximum speed shall not cross 70 ever.

XBhp Kolkata Ride to Bishnupur, Bankura, West Bengal



Due to some unavoidable circumstances the g2g for the month of Februrary which was supposed to be to Mukutmanipur, West Bengal is rescheduled to Bishnupur, Bankura, West Bengal, scheduled for Sunday, 28th of February, 2016. Same day return. All are invited.

Destination : Bishnupur, Bankura, West Bengal

Starting point : Vidyasagar Setu (for the Riders coming from South) and Dankuni toll (for the riders coming from north)
Both will merge at Dankuni Toll.
Starting time : 06:00 a.m. sharp. (Note, this is the starting time, so please reach at least 15 minutes in advance)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS : Please read, Specially if you're new to group riding.

1. Reach on time. Have your petrol filled and air pressure checked the previous day. Do not waste time in the morning, it's a long ride and we will try to be back asap so that we can avoid riding in the dark.
2. Carry a bottle of water.
3. Full pants, Shoes and full face helmets are mandatory. Other gear is optional.
4. Follow the lead. Stay in line and DO NOT OVERTAKE unnecessarily. This is very important. If your riding puts anyone else in the group in danger, you can ride alone and go home.
5. Ensure that your bike is serviced and in proper condition. A breakdown in the middle of nowhere will not be a pleasant experience.
6. Ensure that you've got your rear view mirrors installed. They are a vital part of the bike, and not just an ornament.
7. Ride at a safe, constant speed.
8. Discuss the hand signals at the starting point and use them in the ride. They make a huge difference.
9. Carry a spare clutch cable, throttle cable and gear lever if possible.

A few pictures from my end from today's ride. Or today's G2G as I couldn't join the Kolkata chapter to Bishnupur. Went to see them off as I'm having some other commitments. After a long time met all of them. There were many new faces which in fact is a good sign. Happy journey guys!

Hello and welcome!

Our first road trip was on RTR and Star City to Puri (600km one way). We also had four people with luggage. Bikes had no issues, riders comfort level was on a down side, as it is not comfortable (in my opinion) to go on long trips with a passenger.

As per navigation, I suggest stick to nice roads (that are on the map and have asphalt) and you can use gadgets or ask people for directions, that is your decision. We planned out our trip beforehand at home and navigated by asking directions to a particular place/checkpoint we have established earlier.

Kolkata to Digha is not a very long trip (if you don't plan to go and come back all in one day). In my opinion, it is good for beginners, pace yourself, take breaks, take photos, enjoy the road.

Don't rush, give yourself plenty of time for unexpected stops, etc. If done well, you will enjoy it so much that you will want to go further and longer.
