Hello Kolkata bhpians, I am Tapo, starting my journey from Mumbai to Kolkata on 10th September 2015.

I found very less information about this route, hence started a thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/touring-...er-2015-a.html

anarchy911 told me about this wonderful group and I am sure to meet the community soon.

I request you to share your ideas and suggestions about the itineraries and safety precautions on the mentioned thread.
We shall also keep updating about our plans and post travel pics on that thread.

Basic medicine, bandages and the proper gear, papers and permits of yourself and the motorcycle,maps(hard copies, since mobiles might go kaput), emergency contact numbers, clutch and acc. cable (and an inflator, if you can manage) and a spare headlight and the tool box, and the heart of lion, don't forget the heart.

Just one suggestion, riding safe is better than riding fast.

Yes, we have prioritised safety over anything else. I am more of a leisure rider than a racer.
But, we too believe that some things are just not under our control and we need to keep playing the game.

In the journey, we shall do what we do best; unwind and explore.

So a small ride to Azad Hind turned into a semi long ride to Damodar River. Odo read 205 kms when I got home.

Route Guide to Siliguri from Kolkata

Dear Forum Members!
I am Saikat, new to here. If any mistake is done by me, please forgive me.

Our college group is planning Sikkim Bike Trip on October of this year.
Day-1 : Kolkata to Siliguri (via Vidyasagar Setu-Durgapur Expressway-Panagarh Darjeeling More-Morgram Panagarh Highway-Farakka on NH34-Dalkhola-Siliguri
Day-2 : Siliguri to Gangtok
Day-3 : Gangtok to Changlu & Nathula and back to Gangtok
Day-4 : Gangtok to Lachen
Day-5 : Lachen to Gurudongmar & back to Thanglu Valley
Day-6 : Thanglu Valley to Kalimpong
Day-7 : Kalimpong to Malda
Day-8 : Malda to Kolkata
Total Trip of 2000km+
But, the problem is, we are planning to reach Siliguri from Kolkata in Day 1, which is approximately 600km+. We are considering the above route but we didn't know about the road conditions.
So, you guys are experienced. Can you guys help us for better Route Guide to Siliguri with better road conditions and minimum traffics.

xBhp Kolkata Ride To Gangani Canyon

The g2g for the month of September is scheduled for Sunday, 13th of September, 2015. Same day return. All are invited.

Destination : Gangani Garhbeta - Grand Canyon of West Bengal
Starting point : Vidyasagar Setu(for the riders from North)
Dankuni Toll (for the riders from South)
We will merge together at Kona express-NH6 crossing.

Starting time : 06:00 a.m. sharp. (Note, this is the starting time, so please reach at least 15 minutes in advance)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS : Please read, Specially if you're new to group riding.

1. Reach on time. Have your petrol filled and air pressure checked the previous day. Do not waste time in the morning, it's a long ride and we will try to be back asap so that we can avoid riding in the dark.
2. Carry a bottle of water.
3. Full pants, Shoes and Full face helmets are mandatory. Other gear is optional.
4. Follow the lead. Stay in line and DO NOT OVERTAKE unnecessarily. This is very important. If your riding puts anyone else in the group in danger, you can ride alone and go home.
5. Ensure that your bike is serviced and in proper condition. A breakdown in the middle of nowhere will not be a pleasant experience.
6. Ensure that you've got your rear view mirrors installed. They are a vital part of the bike, and not just an ornament.
7. Ride at a safe, constant speed.
8. Discuss the hand signals at the starting point and use them in the ride. They make a huge difference.
9. Carry a spare clutch cable, throttle cable and gear lever if possible.

Last Moment Reminder : -
Riders who are willing to join us for tomorrows ride are hereby requested to be present at the meet points before 6 am sharp. Its a long trip so we will have to depart as early as possible to avoid traffic.
The meet points are -
For the Riders from South - Vidyasagar Setu
For the Riders from North - Dankuni toll.
Reminding again that for both the points timing is @ 6 am sharp. After that we will not be able to wait for anybody.

Hey Mark! Thanks for the warm welcome back!! I've been off these forums for nearly 4 years now, ever since the bike groupism started... Everything just feel apart and petty politics took over. So even though I am back, but I'm back with a lot of apprehension.
