Thank you aargee for the sneak peak into your rebuilt RX100 and sriram for the snacks

Had breakfast at Motel Highway after parting ways with aargee.

PS: After a few servings, the density of sambar reduces at Motel Highway

Good to hear that you had a good time.

If you're worried about the density, you missed the extremely 'dense' idlies we had during the Vedanthangal ride. I think I chipped a tooth!!

You are all probably in the middle of the ride now, to where I don't know. But if you all rode and had fun, thats excellent. I have been watching this thread for a while now and here are some of my thoughts...
        • Every week, riders are meeting up and riding somewhere, which is just a fantastic trait. Not many cities do that and most importantly, this flavor lasting in Chennai is very nice to see.
        • The turnout in every ride is more than 5 all the time, which is pretty cool.
        • However, there has been a little bit of chaos in the recent days. All this has been about timing, place, etc. which ideally is a result of improper organization.
        • We can handle this when a person volunteers to put things in order. This does not mean that, one person decides and everyone follows. It means that, one person tries to sense the mood of everyone and voices out the collective opinion.
        • It really doesn't matter whether we organize or follow. In both cases, we should try to adapt to the vast majority.
        • For ages, Sunday morning rides have started at 7AM, Cozee and we've riden to Mahabs and come back. Its perfectly fine to advance the timing, if we are riding longer distances. But otherwise, I think 7 is a good timing, simply because it will help more people attend the G2G.
        • When there is chaos, someone needs to take ownership, call the rest of the folks and make peace. At least thats what I used to do, since communication over the forum for every other thing was impossible.
        • I could see that multiple people tried taking responsibility for organizing things and statements were made here and there. This will cause trouble for others who suddenly turn up and read the last few posts. (This practically happens and we can't expect people to flip back pages and read them.) So if you would like to alter the existing plan, try and request the same people who is taking control right now to do it. If that person slacks, try and get him back on the forum or inform him and take control.
        • One (not all) of the reasons why I skipped today's ride was because I really didn't want to ride the NH-4 and come back without even being in a location worth visiting. On the ECR is the viewpoint, the Tiger Caves and Moonrakers. At Vedanthangal is a serene location. At Gingee are the beautiful forts on the hill and the very calm broken temple structure. To me it makes sense to at least spend half an hour there, sitting and chatting. Most importantly, in a place like Gingee, shuttebugs will have their time well spent. (Gingee - a set on Flickr) So please consider such an activity too while planning.

Please feel free to comment, these are my thoughts.
i totally agree.. i tried to bring come control on the chaos using the same method that sunny just suggested but in the end couldn't.. with raghav giving option of split group it got more confusing lol like i said before too many planners spoiled the plan.. at last even i dint know where everyone was headed !! hope we have better coordination this week.. damn i missed this g2g ! previous week and before that i think raghav and sriramefunds were in control of the group and hence was smooth this time nobody took the lead (or everybody did lol myself, raghav, sriram and others lol).. just my opinion not to offend anyone..

Was trying not to look stupid with a blank face when @aargee and others were talking about his home-made rx100. Onnum puriyala but wikipedia helped me a lot after coming home.

          @xinfii, @sunny and @yellowspunk.
+1. It was indeed chaos and I had to SMS people to clear things . I was thinking we'd go for Ambur as well..

            • Mudaliarkuppam!

              A short account of our ride to Mudaliarkuppam on Saturday. The riders;

              Rajiv (Rajivenky) - Ninja 250R
              Anant (Hellsangels) - Comet 250
              Sunny (Sunnyside_up!) - Ninja 250R

We were supposed to link up at the Akkarai junction at 6.30 but Rajiv did a disappearing act on us!! After twiddling our thumbs from 6.15 t0 6.45, Anant and I decided to proceed to Muthukadu slowly and wait for him there. Then around 7 am, Rajiv calls us from Mahabs to tell us he's already there! Grrrr! Apparently he took the wrong turn off from the OMR and landed there!

Anyway, Anant and I took off hell-bent-for-leather to Mahabs, touching speeds of 140kmph - had to slow down a bit because Anant was having difficulty with wind turbulence - his bike is a 'naked' - hurray for fairings!!

After hooking up with Rajiv, ( who bought peace with us in exchange for beers at another time and place ) we took off down South towards the boathouse - a lovely, scenic road with beautiful twisties. At 7.30-ish in the morning, little traffic and cool, comforting breeze. Cruising at about 100kmph, we reached the boathouse in no time and chilled out for awhile, swapping stories and taking pics.

After about an hour we started back and enjoyed a similar enjoyable ride with Rajiv really going for the corners this time. After a suprisingly good breakfast at Mamalla Inn (I think that was the name) and a fag stop at ViewPoint, we split up again at Akkarai ( I still had to get to work ) while Rajiv and Anant took off home.

All in all, a beautiful Saturday morning well spent doing the thing that we all love with friends. Wow!

I've attached some pics taken by me and also the lovely three tanks pic from Rajiv.

                  • I do not know how to put it across, I was watching the thread and learnt many were interested in Biriyani ride. Had also clearly mentioned that I might not be able to make it up with due reasons.

I had a plan of meeting the group to give update regarding Horsley Hills trip and leave home.

I had suggested that we can go to Vallakotai and there was a discussion as to where is it located and things. Also there was a post suggesting that first destination Vallakotai and then ride to Ambur.

@xinfi: I understand there was a chaos, this thread is open and those who are interested shall express their thoughts. It is only few who initiate ride talks, suggestions and discuss. If many wanted to be mere spectators it would only tends to assume that what ever planned or discussed is AOK.

I take the blame for contributing to this confusion regarding the ride on 7/25.

Going forward shall ensure that all the members are in sync with the destination and time for the weekly G2G meet.

                      My dear Friend,

Nobody is blaming anybody for anything. We're all here to simply share and enjoy our passion for all things two-wheeled. It is supposed to be FUN!! So there is definitely no finger pointing going on!

It was merely observed that we could do a better job of organising ourselves - I mean striving for improvement is always good, yes? Even the best F1 and Moto GP teams are always striving to improve - why not us?

However, as a senior old fart, I am happy to see that one of the most reliable ( of the guys that I have met so far ) and responsible of the group has stepped forward to take the onus for the weekly G2G's. Good show! Pls pm me your number so that I can call and thank you properly!

Please call on me for any support that my rickety old bones can provide!!

Nobody will will question or point fingers on the forum, however, one cannot stop thinking of the root cause. Correct? Anything that is not gone right would have to be analyzed as to why it went wrong.

If we all going to be a spectator of the above posts again, there is no point calling ourselves a team. Someone has to stand-up and respond!

Nobody here is trying to take control of the weekly meets. It is well discussed and taken due opinion of rest of the gang on the destination.

Irrespective of newbies or senior members on this forum, it would be highly appreciate if they could voice out their thoughts. Usually we used to poll the destination if there are multiple choices.

Having said above, will still initiate ride talks and carry on. It is upto all should my post be ignored or replied.

@All: If confused on the weekly ride details, please call someone to get to know.

@R Ganesh - I was nice to see your RX 100. May be after the run in, i would request you to give me a ride in your RX.

@Sriram - Lets meet up on 31st for your RX rebuild.

                              • guys,

wished to share my thoughts on my first G2G with chennai xbhpians.

I am not so much a tech expert on bikes - i just enjoy riding, and poring over my monthly issue of Overdrive. was very impressed on the gyaan possessed by u guys.

@argee: your 2010 RX100 totally rocks man totally zapped by your passion for your bike.

@Sriram: Thanks for all the group riding gyaan. The hand signals are totally cool . Count me in for horsley please. And, NO I am NOT listening to you again when u ask me to move my parked bike someplace else

@ Ragav: hope i can have an appointment sometime with your bike mech to tune my ride too. Service is already due this week. So maybe next month ?

@ others: gr8 to meet up with u all.
managing g2gs and marital harmony is likely to be a constant challenge going forward

                                Cheers!
                                Srinivas

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.
