You need to stay at TTDC guesthouse off the lake, which is not worth it. We would try to do Pichavaram on Day 3 if the Sun allows.

Also, I want an relaxed trip - To spend time relaxing on the beach than hurrying up to many places. Keep me posted if you have any other suggestions.

good enough, thanks for your confirmation.

          Tentative Itinerary:

          Day 1 :

0500 AM : Meet Up @ Cozzee / Besant Nagar Beach
0515 AM : Start from Cozee
0530 AM : Meet Up other xBhpians around ECR / Shollinganallur
          0830 AM : Pondy
1000 AM : Breakfast at Chidambaram / Krishna Bhavan - Authentic South Indian Vegetarian Food
1200 PM : Visit Poompuhar (Cauveripatnam) if need
1300 PM : Tranquebar / Tharangambadi Fort. Photo Session
          1400 PM : Nagore : Biriyani Special
          1600 PM : Veilankanni Church
          1800 PM : Point Calimere.

Stay at: Government Rest House. Booze is available opposite to the hotel, But i cannot confirm if chilled beer is available

          Wildlife Warden,
Point Calimere WLS, Collectorate, Nagapattinam 611 002,
          Tamil Nadu
          Ph: 04365- 253092

I would try contacting them & proceed with hotel bookings (for 2 nights) as soon as we have a decisive count of people joining in. Food is available only in a small shop & needs to be pre-ordered (& made) if the count is more than 5!

If i could, I would want to take undefineme's bike (with Volvo headlights) onto the beach, drink till i could & sleep there

          Day 2:

0530 AM : Ride on with our bikes onto the beach. Try to get hold of the Sun Rise. Photo Session, Lots of them. Riding on the beach should be amazing

0730 AM : Come on time for breakfast, empty what ever is available.

0830 AM : Head onto Point Calimere WildLife Sanctury. Gotta hire a Auto / Car depends on the count (Bikes not allowed inside the Sanctury)

1130 AM : Back to Rest House. Rest for an hour or so.

1300 PM : Time for Lunch!!

1400 PM : Head to the salt pans in & around there. Visit Ramar Padam.

1500 PM : Search around for the Muthupet Lagoon. Spend some more time relaxing at the beach.

1730 PM : Back to Room. Booze. Rest.

2000 PM : Dinner & Off to Bed.

Satellite image grab of Point Calimere :

KODIAKARAI FOREST (SANTURY) OR POINT CALIMERE: Photos and videos on Google Maps, the WIKI-way

          Day 3 :

0500 AM : Start from Point Calimere.

          0700 AM : Nagapattinam

0830 AM : Pichavaram - If the weather is tolerable (& If people want), we might head to Pichavaram boating.

1130 AM :Brunch at Krishna Bhavan, Chidambaram

          1430 PM : Pondicherry

          1800 PM : Chennai

**If we dont do boating, Then we will go sightseeing in pondicherry (If people want)**

I know Im not perfect, so please correct me on anything that needs to be corrected on my post. Thanks.

          EDIT :

          Road Conditions :

Only problem would be the narrow road from Chidambaram to Sirgaazhi & after that its all good. Few pot holes here & there, But then No off roading or anything (Except if you want to ride on Beach!)

Even the road from Chidambaram to Sirgaazhi is not so bad as roads in Karnataka, But its a small road where only one Bus can go at a time, So 2 wheelers would be forced to come out of the road, ride on mud & then ride over the tarmac - Becomes a little hectic with the sun blowing down HOT. Otherwise everything seems comfortable in general.

          Hope This helps.

          Cheers!
          Ananth
I'm VERY tempted. Not sure if my back would take a 370km ride each way though.

Would you mind if I went back to the room and crashed after the Day2 beach excursion? . I think I might need to rest my ancient bones for the ride back.

I am pretty sure no one is going to ride after 11 Am on the second day as it will get really hot. most of us will crash till 3 in the afternoon and start exploring again. so you will have ample rest.370 kms should not be that difficult especially on the ninja. only problem you might face is that riding on the beach and some off roading.

Sir, Dont think of all that: Chennai - Chidambaram wont be a problem & again, Sirgaazhi to Nagapatnam would be good. Nagapatnam to Vedaranyam was AWESOME. Only problem is to a max of 40 kilometers that too single lane roads with tarmac.

You can take your call on riding on the beach after dropping in the Ninja onto the shore

Cool. Estimate? You do the math - 800 - 850 Kms round trip. Stay would be like 200 per day per person (max)

Food was dirt cheap, but still have it 200 bucks for a day.

You're right - 370km is no sweat for the Ninja, but I'm a little worried about Ananth's comment about narrow roads where bikes would have to get off - the Ninja's suspension is set for handling on good tarmac at high speed hence quite stiff - felt EVERY pothole on the way to Tada today.

So my worry is whether my back will be happy after being personally introduced to every bump on those narrow roads. Oh!... and I can't take it to the beach either.

Maybe I'll just borrow my wife's Scorpio and be a support vehicle, carrying essentials like beer and er...... more beer!

                    • @Sunnyside_up! - no big concerns - it is a stretch of 28 kms where the roads are narrow - not pothole ridden. easily managable.

Yellowspunk - 1800rs of fuel??? i think the fz can do better than that

illa na.. i have done some long distance trips and even during the sunday rides i got a mileage of only 30-35kmpl. in city i get 40-45kmpl lol to and fro will be 800kms plus we will be roaming here and there (plus in case we get lost ) so on the safer side another 100kms... 900/30*60=1800 !! even so my bike will not cover the one way trip with a tank full !! puny 12litres tank !!

@Ananth - Your plan sounds more than perfect to me; the ones marked in bold is the real highlight to me. This is just perfect & count me in for this. Although I've a small suggestion to start early from Calimere & reach Chennai in advance as the next day is to turn up to office.

One more suggesstion is, how about doing a round trip, like, Chennai-Vizhupuram-Pondi & Pondi-ECR-Chennai instead of taking the same route twice?

I've been twice through the Chidambaram-Sirkazhi stretch & it can't be compared to bad. Its narrow for two buses to pass through that's all.

Rs 1800??? Bet you beer to dollar, my Rx consumes more than your Fz, yet would cost only 1600 or less for fuel.
Oh!!! on the point of getting lost for 100 Kms...are you saying you'll get lost to the tune of distance from Chennai to Chengalpet? Stick to the group & you'll never get lost.

I would say, have enough petrol to reach Pondy and tank it would help saving on fuel.

Regarding finance & budget: You need to be aware of anticipated expenses. PLAN !!

One more thing. for all the talk, you have always made to the weekend G2G every time it was planned.
