You can try out Tarun (probably on his way somewhere now) .. He's a versatile rider as well! There are lots more in the gang, but you know how i ride, so you're better off with someone else rather than me :P
Add to that another problem - few of the parts should be sourced through local vendors. But whatever you say, right from their cars to motorcycle, I find Honda to be more quality compared to Suzuki.

May be you need to start a thread on this Raghav, it will warn others, Suzuki India might even keep an eye on the thread.

        • @ aargee : Agreed about sourcing components locally. Its the name tag which significantly increases the prices. Sriram knows very well what Im talking about.

I doubt if suzuki even bothers to look outside the LAN! Many Emails have gone unanswered and hence, i dont see the point in trying to start a new post aargee, too many fanboys out there ready to flame, pawn and degrade the posts.

If the same situation continues, The GSR will meet the same fate as the shaolin. Die with out spares and lose its name.

But on a lighter note, My bike has performing quite well except for some mild QC issues. Otherwise, I've loved every second I've spent with her. No complaints except for the QC.

          • Well, Suzuki in India will stay for sure. But the spares are going to be a big trouble. As such, they are loner in the market not sharing any similarity with another bike. Earlier, Suzuki-TVS had some similarity with in models, even today Apache, RTR, Samurai, Max100, Max100R, Ind-Suzuki etc.

After Suzuki India came out with 100% subsidy of parent Suzuki Corp. They had just released one product so far in that GS category. Yes, spares will be hard to find unless the bike gets a good sales in the market. As seen these days they are picking up well with other established players like Hero Honda, Bajaj, Honda and Yamaha. Their stockist godown had always gone thin when it comes to spares for the vehicle and in fact right from the TVS-Suzuki days.

Shogun spares were of tough to get even when they were in production. I got to know this while I was in school, then my senior was complaining that he had to wait for the parts for the dealer to get it.

What I would suggest is that, make a plan, try to gather information such as accommodation keeping budget in mind, start date time, and return etc.

If Elagiri is fine with all then I'm in.

P.S: Coming weekend getting accommodation would be a test. All the best.

EDIT: Why not Gingee fort ride? We have been planning this for a while. Guys we have some predictable nice weather these days. Lets discuss.

Yes why not? When lousy people like Chevrolet can stay here, why not Suzuki?

Where? In Yelagiri? My friend has an accomodation built over there, if people can confirm the participation, I can check with him for availability. Sooner...better.

But on anyday, I don't think that place would be stuffed with so much people that not a single accomodation couldn't be found.

I was supposed to call YMCA at Yelagiri (if there is a ride) about accommodations. I won't lie, I have this weird phobia of talking to unknown people over the phone. (Meh. Ok, so I was too lazy to pick up the phone and give them a call. Please excuse ). Will keep you folks posted.

We also have @aargee's friend's place in queue.

                • Now Suzuki bikes are gaining momentum starting with GS R. when i bought it there was not too many bikes in Chennai. now many ppl buying and at least for its access it will stay in India comfortably.

i heard that apart from authorized dealers you cannot get spares this to prevent the quality this is what i heard

and they changed bore + piston kit ( the top part of the engine where spark plug connected).

                  changed RR unit also.

At least Suzuki responding to complaints. and they changed all in warranty free of charge. i need to start run in again.

not sure of the root cause . may be manufacturing defect. i started to feel the issue when i go around 80+ and leave the throttle some strange sound came. usually the engine braking sound will be different then this odd noise. but it started some two three weeks before only. any idea ? what might be the root cause ?

                  • I gave a call to YMCA Yelagiri. Their relatively cheaper dormitories are full for the weekend. Although their cottages(?) which can accommodate 2, are available.

Rates are 650 + Taxes. And 130/- for veg food (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

                        • whats so special with Yelagiri? I wonder why people plan 2 day weekend for Yelagiri! Why not Yercaud or Southern Tamil nadu for a change? IMO, Yelagiri could be used up for a days trip and there is nothing to waste time for 2 days!

No one wants to try Pichavaram / Tranquebar and the likes?

Anyway, Im headed to the western coast this weekend, Have a nice time guys!

                              2. the trip is also on 50% chances
If I make to BLR, it will be a single day trip. So I'm not sure what to say at this point. Too early to commit on anything. Anyway, keep me posted on ZMA's progress.

Did you go over there in person or on the phone? If on the phone, this is always the case. Just to boost up the price; sick people. Pressing hard is what is required.
