Well, as we have seen this situation before, it is better to take another weather report around 5 AM to see if there is any favorable condition for the ride.

    Plan - B:

Just Besant Nagar Beach at 7 AM.

Hope atleast someone would read this post?
Huh! what happened guys? Is it Vellore or is it bessy. Its bright and shiny now though. . Weather in chennai.... what can i say

    • Chennai XBhp G2G - 05/09/2010

Chennai XBhp created a record of sorts today with a g2g with just one rider showing up!!

Woke at 4.45am and started getting ready only to find out from Sri (efunds) that the ride was cancelled. To his credit, the guy offered to keep me company out of a sense or responsibility but I told him to go back to bed and crash. Senthil, our newest noob also called and I advised him to take his bike out for a ride to maybe Kanchipuram to rack up some mileage so that he would be able to push open the throttle sooner than later on his new Ninja.

Finding myself up and about with nothing else to do, got on my bike and went for a spin - a fast sprint down to Marakanam Beach about halfway to Pondy and back. Beautiful weather, clean rain-washed and empty roads, a scenic ride with just the sound of my engine at 8 - 10k rpm for company.......ahhhh! Bliss!!!

Got back home after 3 hours a happy and rejuvenated man!!

Oops! I did wake up at 4 AM, But dad wanted me to attend a function in Kanchipuram. So took it as a choice to ride on this morning

Started by 4 30 AM & Came back by 9 AM - Yet another small early morning ride of 150 Kilometers

By the way, serviced my Bike yesterday & it is all set for the next 5 day vacation in Karnataka.

P.S: Any one know the life of ZMA / ZMRs Disk Pad? I guess my disk pads are worn out at 11500 Kms, Guess i gotta hunt for the RTRs Disk Pad today!

        • Lazy Saturday kept me off from bed; I SMS'd Sri & got a prompt reply that the G2G is cancelled. I went back to sleep again.

Weather was really favourable & I missed it!!!

I guess I need to be working on RX to change the front sprockets; I'll change it to 15/34 instead of present 16/34. So if this goes, I'll miss the next G2G.

Any pads should last long more than 25K for sure; atleast the rattling Pulsar's lasts more. So being, HH, I strongly expect the life more or less the same.

BTW, what's your tire's (tread) conditions? Both front & rear? Not sure on motorcycles, do a coin test & see how much the tires are worn out. If they seem to wear more for 12K, then the pad's wear & tear are OK.

Front is almost torn off, rear still good for another 10k kilometers, would change them both after i hit the 16000 Kilometers mark.

disk pad life is around 15k-18k , maybe more maybe less depending on usage. i got mine changed at 24k but could notice sloppy braking from 19k. changed to rtr ones 350rs as opposed to 2400rs ones from hero honda and i did not even notice the difference

you sure you want to try kodachadri with your front tyre(I would not)... Kodachadri in monsoon is more difficult than any off roading we saw in ladakh so watch out...don't even think about hebbe falls with those tyres.

I felt a bit sloppy braking after 15k...didn't put new one and now @19k changing it along with the whole front visor
My suggestion, If you feel breaking is not well...change it immediately

I did go for a spin of total 100 Kms.... chennai-bangalore road....but had to start at 1 PM (in afternoon), because of urgent work in office.....

The weather was hot & sultry, & i was looking like a clown in my new Alpinestar jacket ......sweating profusely .......Couldn't push myself beyond 50 Kms (one-way)...My bike has done 705 kms so far....

Hopefully, i'll cross 800 Kms threshold before next G2G...

Amit - Sorry to hear about your crash. here is a fair idea on how much it can cost.

left fairing 1400rs and right fairing is 1400, center is 2500 and the dome set is about 2k(not sure).bent forks will cost you about 1500rs(change oil seal and fork alignment at the service station)

disk pad alone cost 2400 rs if you are replacing the set expect to spend more.

not sure if the mudguard is ok if not another 850 rs. if your speedo meter has gone kaput expect to shell out close to 5k.

P.S - change to the rtr pads - no difference and worth the money- 350rs and I hate hero honda for keeping spares ridiculously expensive. your Zma is black so spares should be available if it is yellow or silver expect to wait for about 4 months

Hi Steve, Many Thanks for the information

Both of my fairings(left and right) need to be changed along with the dome.My mudguard is scarched but not broken, So no change.

Here I am not sure about the Disk prices , Sai motors quoted me 2500 for the set (Pad 1000rs, disk 1500rs). Speedo is working fine.

I am changing my fairings to yellow only..planning to change the whole bike to yellow step by step
