once i went to kone falls... it is through redhills - periyapalam.

its almost 5 years back i guess. But just to let you guys know what will be there. its a small falls and one sivan temple will be there.

Any telugu speaking guys ? it will be added advantage as its kind of interior.

as far as i know.. the tiruvallur thirutani road is small and busy though it has some scenic roads.. redhills periyapalayam will be boring on the highway but nice through the empty interior village roads.. no idea beyond tirutani or periyapalayam..

I drove to Kone abt three years ago. If I remember correctly, we turned off the Poonamallee-Srperumbudur road towards Tiruvallur and then just kept asking direction along the way - no problem even though we had no Telugu speaking in the group. If we are using that route, I guess CTC would be a good meeting point, what say?

As for the falls itself, I wouldn't really give it that status and the place itself is a one-horse $#*+ -hole. Last time we couldn't even get smokes and drinking water there!

But the road was pretty good and I guess the ride would be pretty decent.

@Sri-funds - buddy, please fix link-up time @ 6am. Earlier than that is just plain in-human!!

+1. if majority of ppl are from central and south chennai thiruthani route will be good compared to periyapalayam route. i went to thiruthani recently road not that bad.

How to reach

Drive towards Puttur and after entering the Puttur highway road, you will find a road on the left (bearing a signboard) heading towards the Kailasakona waterfall. Turn left and go straight. After traveling 2.5 km you will reach the destination.

the tirutani route is kinda scenic but roads are bouncy last used on nov'09. the periyapalayam route is partly bouncy partly very good.. the state highway which runs through small villages would be scenic but have speed-breakers too !! lol

yea bro your right.. either route thirumangalam would be perfect for a start point. you can go to redhills (periyapalayam route) or ambattur (tirutani route) from there.

Ah, Sorry. Was in half sleep when i posted. And i'd gathered the list based on members who had posted regarding this.

Retteri signal - It is the Red Hills road junction. (Past Padi if I'm correct).

Its the 3rd signal after padi signal. You have overshot the signal if you go past an ESSAR Petrol Pump (Comes to your left).

The meeting point is still in discussion depends on the route we take.

Got a Mail from the guys at SHAR. they are not allowing anyone inside anytime soon, Thanks to the recent "intel" reports, but they said they would keep me posted and to expect permission by september.
