            • Damn tired just now woke up.

To tell the other side of the story

Woke up at 4.30 in the morning and started riding right from 5 A.M and reached sriram place at 5.30 AM and woke him up (tired of RX rebuild- He dint forget the snack pack though ) soon joined by a black Ninja. Mr.Sunny.

We started to meet others at the decided meeting point,Thirumangalam signal. We made a bad move by going to Koyembadu route. There was a hell lot of traffic even @ 6.15 AM . Anyone ever saw Ninja going on platforms ? i witnessed. lol. Me,sunil and sriram rode on platforms and some how managed to catch the remaining half of the second gang. Joined by rajiv, sudharsan and rakesh we six started to "Falls"

We made a lot of inquires en route to make sure we going to "Falls" lol but everyone told to go straight go straight. We were just going on in kolkatta highway we stopped in tea shop for break and again we started. We decided to let go the Ninja's ahead but thank god they stopped us in the middle to say "We going to the wrong falls" After checking everyone's GPS lol Sunil's Blackberry said we went 650 kms in wrong direction by this time we got call from the other gang and said they gonna enter the way leading to falls (just 2 kms to reach the destination) and we decided to change the destination / lets go back home and finally rajiv GPS said we went 30 kms in wrong direction.

"U" turn and rode 20 kms and got the turn leading to periyapalayam. Like raghav mentioned roads not that good. Huff when we reached periyapalayam, surprised by crowd and ppl cooking in middle of the road. And some street children threw small stone on Rajiv's Ninja. He was WT.

I did the "Sweep" role all day and saw sunil and rajiv moving here and there in the bike. Tough time for them to ride the Ninja in those roads. Sudarsan dodge to avoid water splash from other bikes

Finally, we crossed TN border and welcomed by lot of wine shops. lots of Himalaya wines and off course good-very good tarmac.

Atlast we reached the destination and joined with other four. We rode almost 40 kms extra in Kolkatta highway that we did in some 10-15 mins but that periyapalayam route. oh god

no one will forget the kasi hotel.food was awesome i cant forget the face of the waiter when we asked more rice more rice

              Things learnt,
              1. Never go in periyapalayam route

Me and sunil did almost 330 kms today and i cant forget his saying when we reached the park to park our seats , " I want to park my a$ on a place which is flat and not moving" . Everyone rode for almost 10 hours.

Very good adventurous trip and enjoyed riding with all.

              • Sorry for OT... found info in one site through google and successfully installed Garmin XT in my 5800 and got india map through further google.

till now i thought we should use either google maps or ovi which used network and its massive 10 p for 10 kb.

this using some satellites and its free. i tried getting the drive direction to tambaram and a female voice came with saying go 8kms in same direction. lol awesome.

thanks to "the lost story" happened today and raghav for saying there is a garmin app for nokia 5800 . Offcourse I’m a cheapskate meaning i dint pay for the software. ha.ha.

                      • If there is one lesson I learnt yesterday, it is this.
Don't ever piss off Monkeys. They don't give a F*ck when you have food with you.

The Falls in itself was a bit disappointing, Poorly maintained and it felt like a huge bathroom shower with an odour which reminded me of Lifebuoy soaps. The falls wasn't as good as I hoped it to be but the ride and the people made it awesome.

From pilgrims camping in the roads to the mechanic guy who gave me a lecture on the benefits of tubeless tyres; and add dodging cow dung pieces in bullet time outside Periyapalayam, it was an eventful ride indeed .

[O.T] If some of you remember, I was mumbling about a trip this october... please ping me if anyone is interested

                        • The best way to discourage monkeys : stare right back at them with a even more hideous face and make it look like you are ready to kill them.... lol

@ all: I'm planning to upgrade my lid this month. I have 3 choices on my mind:

                          1.AGV MPA
                          2.CROSS
                          3.LS 2

My main criteria would be antiscratch visor, Visibility of visor, build and price. Also could someone suggest THE proper place to buy it here in Chennai? I've lost faith in the usual Pioneer(GP road guy) when he said Vega Was Imported... LOL ...
I'm eying the AGV MPA types mainly because of the scratch proof visor. I would like to know how the weight of the helmet would affect a rider? Neck pain/Back pain perhaps?

                          Help!

                          Ragav

P.S: How about Gingee fort this weekend?
We could Travel by NH 45-150 kms or By ECR-180 Kms (Right at Marakkanam and head straight)

AGV seems to be bit heavy when compared to the latter... You could prolly ask Dinesh or Ananth as they are used to it.

Cross & LS2 Lids are light & they seem to be pretty good on the other hand...I'm a cross lid user & Visor shows some scratches on it when seen but ain't disturbing while riding & its negligible...
