Ok here's the deal, if the roads are like this - wet and muddy - no can do. If its dry and only 6km, then its do-able!

BTW, what the heck do we do in the "jungle retreat" ??

Xinfii and Tarc will go off exploring with their cameras, while Steve will snooze and Zaphod will try to hunt his own game/food - what will us regular mortals do?

And will the bikes be safe? Last year we had a brand new Innova smashed to pulp in Masinagudi by a couple of ho*ny elephants!

The above one is from Tiger Ranch, Bandipur.

Jungle Retreat is at Masinagudi. I enquired these places only after referrals from friends who has been their and liked their stay.

Yes, Bikes will be safe. But I dont know if a Ho**y elephant might kick your Ninja or not!

And this pic was taken from last year's monsoon season. It should be dry now, But if it rains in the western ghats now - I dont know if the Ninja's can take it & Hence the question - Should i look forward to this place (Tiger Ranch, Bandipur) or look for places in Masinagudi itself?

The same thing we do everywhere else . Get smashed and sleep. But if they take people on some night treks, that will be interesting. I am actually looking forward to it; The experience of trying to get some sleep and scared sh*tless wondering if the thing next to me is a human or a horny elephant is something I don't want to miss out on .

I'm given time till next friday to finalize the booking and pay a token advance (For Jungle Retreat Resort, Masinagudi) - For Tiger Ranch & Peak View i can extend for another couple of weeks.

Some do take the onus to discuss with other fellows and let me know the status, since i cant make it this Sunday morning!

And Sunny / Rajiv / Xinfii - Can you guys make through this terrain for 6 Kms? If not, I will look for other options.

I'm not comfortable riding in this kind of slush...

Neither my Ninja nor my body are designed for these kind of roads...

Could you please reconsider this route/destination?

this looks like a lovely 6km ride in the jungle. I am confused as it is not even close to bad roads or off roading. just some slush. I have not ridden a ninja in these conditions but the track looks very much feasible. regarding a night safari - better options are available at masinagudi.

P.S - for the ride 2 reasons why an early start is a must

1. heat
2. ride from Ooty to masinagudi through the 36 hairpin bends - bikes will not be allowed after 6 due to the number of accidents that happen there. the route via Gudulur means we will have to ride about 15-18 kms through the forest before we reach masinagudi and I am not game riding riding in elephant infested jungles after sunset in a large group- i have had my share of angry elephants

my enthusiasm for the above is even greater now. but can't take chances on a 2 wheeler. If I am in a car, the later in the evening the better it is. and considering the group size, it is better to be safe than sorry
