Chennai to Kodaikannal

Hey I plan to leave to kodaikannal from chennai day After morning,I have a rough idea of the route but not clear enough, any pointers, caution while going? I am touring for the first time properly with a viaterra claw saddlebag and viaterra magnetic tank bag. I know till like chenglepet properly after that I'm not sure, solo trip soo I guess very few stops. Also is it necessary to carry the PUC certificate?

you can take Chennai - Chenglpet - Melmaruvathur- Vilupuram -Trichy-Dindigul-Kodai route -- this is mostly highways.. take break in between, being summer stay hydrated,

Carry your DL, RC, Insurance, PUC (though tamilnadu cops don't check this rigorously)
wear proper riding gear

Make clear route plan. Hope this will help. This is best route. It's my opinion.
Chengalpattu- melmaravathur- dindivanam-villupuram- peramballur- trichy- dindigual -ganguvarapatti- its Kodai ghat road. It will lead to kodikanal.

Please carry all documents plus PUC.

Hi there..

Keep your documents handy 'cause the officials @ Forest check post at the beginning of Ghat road will sure stop bikers riding solo and in full gear .I've encountered this every time I go there. Its better ride slow while nearing the ghat section or to get behind a car or bus to avoid those checking.

And I think it will become dark when you start going up hill. Be extra cautious never over speed in Ghat roads and use highbeam only when necessary.

ISG2G Pre-ride on June 17th 2017

For the upcoming ISG2G meet at Thekkady, we organizing two pre-rides for Chennai chapter. Every year there are newbies are added to the group and in order to give them an idea of long rides and learn about the safety aspects these rides are conducted for every edition.

Please note the pre-requisites for the pre-ride

1. Valid papers for the bike
2. Full riding gear
3. Positive attitude

There will not be much sightseeing as such but just a round trip. So I would suggest you all to take water and some snacks to much.

Date - June 17th 2017
Time - 5 AM
Meet point - Cresent Engg college, Vandalur.
Route - Chennai - Tindivanam - Marakkanam - Odiyur lake - Adayar
Round route - 240 KMS

If weather serves good we will have a wonderful ride, else it would still be a preparation to ride atleast 400+ kms under sun during Thekkady ride.
