Fall in mileage
Originally posted in R-15 ownership thread, one of the members suggested to post here for some local help:
I shifted my R-15 from UP to Bangalore few months back. There has been a serious drop in mileage, giving 33-35 in city. Earlier it used to give ~40kmpl. Also the sound of the engine seems to be very rough. .
Talked to a local mechanic, he said problem in mileage is due to weather and he has to clean some parts (I dont remember the name) to rectify it.
1. Is the mechanic correct?
2. What may be the reason for the loss of refinement/roughness of the engine?
3. Also I am dues for my service for 10000 kms, any special changes to be done at 10k or normal servicing?
4. Which is best service center for Yamaha in Bangalore?
P.S.: Pls consider this question specifically for Bangalore not for R-15

Then you can probably try Sprint Yamaha, on Hosur road. Few Xbhpians are giving good reviews about the place. *personally not tried *.Originally posted by anas17in View PostI stay in BTM Layout, South Bangalore

sorry for noticing it late
mileage : 33-35 is the correct one, not sure 40kmpl is possible unless you have changed riding style
Engine: i think check the Engine oil , use fully synthetic one, and also it has very rough of ratteling noise then ask them to check tappet adjustment as last option [avoid anything change in engine]
10,000km: airfilter change, oil filter change , spark plug change
there is nothing to clean any parts , except air filter.. careful with that mechanic
im riding my R15 for almost ~5years and i never got mileage of more than 33kmpl

Why is no one interested in the G2G??
Its a tri-state G2G guys!!
@phanikar : I went through the thread.. was unable to locate any info on what dates are fixed? 2 & 3 of November?? And if I'm participating, then it'll be my first.. when's the pre ride? And people were talking about a fee.. ?? And riding gear? I don't own any, apart from my helmet. One coat(its not even waterproof). :P
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.
Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

The ride dates and destination are decided through polls, i.e Nov 2-4 and the destination, Chikmagalur. Pre ride dates will be announced shortly. And what fee are you referring to ????? you mean the moolah to pay for the accommodation ?????? W.r.t Riding gears, kindly arrange for it. If its not possible to buy it presently, you can borrow it from a person who is not riding. Riding gears are highly recommended. If you are not able to source an armored jacket, kindly arrange for a thick layered jacketOriginally posted by madhav766 View PostWhy is no one interested in the G2G??

Apart from layered jacket? I can arrange for one of those. I dont have riding knee caps or elbow pads. I used to skate, so I've got those protective gear.. Are those sufficient? No metal tipped shoes either. But I've got some with really tough toes. Are these enough?Originally posted by phanikar View PostThe ride dates and destination are decided through polls, i.e Nov 2-4 and the destination, Chikmagalur. Any shoe that can withstand some scraping is fine at the least, but regarding Knee Caps and elbow pads, the Shin and forearms are more prone to injury in case of a fall. So would recommend to have a proper riding Knee and elbow guard.Originally posted by madhav766 View PostApart from layered jacket? I can arrange for one of those.
