re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
Another route that is highly recommended by fellow trippers. Would love to do it with the xBhp gang sometime in the future.
Its a circuit route of Mullaiyangiri and Badra Reservoir - slick roads, completely forested and sections of the route is even recommended in Lonely Planet's best rides.
Here's the route map - http://goo.gl/maps/Iytxb
This route is also best done by setting base at Chikmagalur and start off with the circuit early morning, sights and roads are surely worth a day. So if anyone wants to do this sometime I recommend getting to Cmagalur the previous day and ride the circuit in daylight hours -worth doing ten times over.
Currently at work (which feels like in shackles while thoughts of a ride feel like prison break... so you know where my thoughts are
).
Cheers good men.

Sorry to burst the excitement bubble. Its not as hyped up as it sounds, Have done this stretch few times. Firstly its not "Completely forested" , in fact its a proper state highway for most parts. Slightly average roads from Mandagadde to somewhere close to Koppa, apart from that roads are overall Good. Secondly "Worth doing 10 Times" , in this season is an exaggeration. During Monsoons, then yeah.Originally posted by Vykier View PostAnother route that is highly recommended by fellow trippers. Would love to do it with the xBhp gang sometime in the future.

Hey excitement bubbles isn't is sparse supply to be even close to feeling sorry friend. I partly stand corrected, however i have personally done Tarikere Chikmagalur (fantastic), Mudigere - Manase (Quite awesome), Koppa - n'pura etc (rural roads but worthy of exploring the parts where water laps up the roads and also offers a bounty of photo ops for the photographer in us).Originally posted by phanikar View PostSorry to burst the excitement bubble. Just throwing out excitement bubbles thats all... burst it as and when applicable.

re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
Seriously bro, this year has already got me going crazy for road trippin... somehow I find myself more in love with the roads, the dissipating fumes of heavy vehicles, the sound of 16 wheels whirrrrrrr ing from a truck decorated and approaching from a distance... oh boy... it has got me going.Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostI smell energy and enthusiasm, mate - RESPECT!!!

So much so that seahorses and I pulled out a vague half a day to overcome our desperation of riding. Amid a chaotic week of chronic working both of us decided to take our rides out come Sunday the 5th of Jan. With no official plan or direction we decided last minute that we'll start by heading towards Mysore since it gives us more options to push on from there.
Saturday night was as always an 'eyes wide shut' situation with my mind desperately instructing my body to sleep but my eyes floating up exciting visuals of the ride n the road. So with hardly any shut eye I left home to meet with my man Seahorses. 4:45am Nice road I see a sharp dressed man and a classic styled bike with foglights on, he mentions his steed misfiring once in a while today... A bit about this ride - From the looks of it, it comes across as one of those machines that brave war veterans of the 60s loved and used, this one in particular I believe was imported from Columbia formerly owned by one of Che Guera's right hand man out there... ... or so the bike makes me believe... Its only keen observation that make you notice the naturally muscular engine of the latest RE 500... Its a sort of thing that makes anyone go "Wah bhai... check this out!" due to its old world charm mixed with the latest UC 500 engine from the RE stables.
So after the meet up at the nice road, we decided to exchange our rides for a while enroute to Mysore. Now i've ridden a RE 350 (CI) for a long time and loved it but this 500 makes that cower in shame. I was instantly taken aback by the tow like bullish torque that remains clean all through its rpm range. Torque in RPM ranges where the 350 felt limiting the 500 literally wants to yield more n more. We stopped over for some roadside tea at about 5:15am somewhere on a relatively empty Mysore Road, apart from keeping us awake it also never fails to provide that much needed body warmth on a chilly chilly morning. Deciding to ride along in each others rides till Mandya, I engrossed myself in the nostalgic physics of an RE Classic I was riding not bothered about many a milestones or road humps on this road. It wasn't 45 minutes before Mandya popped out of nowhere, now this really felt like I was riding across Bangalore from say Yeshwantpur to Indranagar whereas this was leaps of distances being covered. We stopped over for Coffee grinning to each other about the quickness of halting by necessity to stretch time. The sun was still not up and we ended up spending loads of time chatting about bikes, after a good 40 mins break the ultra violet frequencies of skylight gave us the faint blue hue of top light in the horizons. Taking this as the cue we started off, thrilled at feeling snug back in our own rides we thundered on along the highway... It was just before Srirangapatna that warm rays of the fat ol sun touched down on tarmac that rolled along casting those long shadows that one can see from the corner of our eyes emulating our rides and suspending moments. We were already in Srirangapatna and it was day break so we decided on a long photo break along these fields of joy.
Above - Seahorses's new angel of death helmet that lights up even the darkest hour with some psycho glowing graphics.
Here after much ado and vague unfocused congregation of thoughts we chose to further our adventures by means of the much loved Hunsur Road. Just before Srirangapatna there is a sharp right turn that takes you across a network of state roads that connects its way across to Hunsur Road through KRS, we took that to immediately come across a large patch of road not made and I remember riding very carelessly over this road littered with rocks (must've still been in a bullet mindset) because it definitely didn't agree with my bike.
After a bit of crisscrossing between junctions we were soon riding across river Cauvery on our left and KRS on our right side... the setting just sucked us into stopping over to breathe-in some of the environment.
Here again we spent so much time intentionally that we were eventually chased out by an over eager and extremely persistent old woman asking for money. The Hunsur road need I say is just fantastic, the bends as usual makes me wild and leaning forward but I controlled that urge quite well with the CBR purring capably along the rush of Sunday trippers and roadside melas. By 7:30 we had crossed Hunsur and almost at hunting range of Bylakuppe when Breakfast came into our minds, satisfying our appetites with Dosa's and Coffee we sat about making some calls, stretching, feeling the day warm up and the morning breakfast rush turn in by about 9 am when we saw a few imports whip across the road.
Here something happened that gave me this newfound respect for kids in rural areas - While both Seahorses and I took our time after breakfast to discuss about our next move, this young 10 year old lad who I saw from the corner of my eye doing wheelies on his bicycle in a muddy by lane comes up to me and asks pointing towards our pal Seahorses's ride "Is that a BSA or a Norton?" - brothers I have never done such a massive double take ever in my life... there i am smug mfker hardly glancing at him and he throws me this out of the blue kick ass question that just demanded a mature headed answer. Love the dude. When I told him its 'RE' he nods back towards his little friends telling them "Enfield, Royal Enfield".
Left pleasantly surprised and with the forethought of some hard decisions to make we got about to discuss it, as one of us needed to get back home by late afternoon. We essentially wanted to ride on to Sakleshpur or wherever to make a complete meal out of this day but didn't really want to push on deeper when the Bullet isn't properly tuned. So reluctantly we started our journey back with Seahorses riding at a conservative speed and me following along.
On our way back we took on to our solo guises and pretty much silently rode on; One stop at KFC near Maddur im guessing where we stayed on chatting about our ride today, the Diavel, R1s and some other imports that we tumbled across, my offroad rim bend, the mystery of the missfiring bull and the kid who knew much more. This extended till about 2 pm when we finally decided to call it a day, from here we agreed to carry on until Nice road from where we split our ways.
So that was about our impromptu Breakfast Ride nestled up in Coorg County.
-----------x----------
About Jan 12th, here's another option to Barachukki Waterfalls and a ride following river cauvery upstream all the way to Srirangapatna from where water is released by means of KRS Dam. This route is often visited by hoards of foreigners on little gearless bikes, I guess they come to to Mysore on a package tour and it has some kind of a ride around Mysore in its itinerary... whatever their reason, the area is rurally beautiful and fringed by mountains in the south. Lots of waterbodies.
Anyway here's the Route Map - http://goo.gl/maps/WuEFT - Mainly a Waterfalls and river glimpses ride.
Cheers.

Vykier Bhaiii, what have u done, its looking like as if i gave u bribe to boast about my bike here.
Anyways, thanks to this same bull, jiska aap taarif kar rahe ho because of which our plans of going to Ooty got cancelled and took diversion from Mysore , towards Bylakuppe to cut the ride short. Sorry for ruining your plans. God knows how did RE service guys remapped my ECU, the previous day of this ride, that the condition became so bad on the RIDE day. Anyways it was nice riding along with u bhai, it feels good to ride along with hardcore solo riders like you. Looking forward for more rides.

I was there around 3.30 pm; you said you'll come pick your khatara by evening 6, then When DAFUQ didya go to RE? - BTM and HSR showrooms are almost equidistant and would close by the time you make it till there, unless, of course, you use jet packs. So please *explain this $h!t*!!!

Hey bro... there is no ride that is ruined trust me (ive personally changed plans and worked around issues 100s of times, many times giving the requisite headache to my fellow riders too) All part of the ride and anyway, we got plenty more scoots to do yet... I was just comprehending the distance we could cover if the bull was fully fired up. Also the pleasure of riding together is equally mine bro... I really haven't seen many people handle and perform direction switches like you on an RE Classic 500. A freakkin thrill to watch.Originally posted by seahorses View Post@Vykier Bhaiii, what have u done, its looking like as if i gave u bribe to boast about my bike here.

Thanks a ton for the words bro... just cannot seem to contain this constant pull of the ride on the road, really looking forward for the Sunday ride now - Any place decided yet?

I dunno yet mate, experts are taking a call. I am a foot soldier and will remain one, just followin' the herd!
And yea, Bengali isn't back and is still contemplating on his transition between "End of Era" and Tourographer" phase, just in case he misses this.
