Hey Guys, I am from Hyderabad but will soon be moving to Bangalore for work. I wanted to get my bike there but been hearing lot of stories about outstation vehicle owner being troubled coz the registration/tax.

Could someone help me find out exactly how Kuch tax I would have to pay if I decided to use my bike there by paying the tax. I ride a karizma which is now over 10yrs old.

There are lot of other state vehicles in bangalore and unlike other Indian cities cops here do not trouble you for being from other state.

For starters, just make sure you get an NOC (no objection certificate) from your local RTO ensuring the authenticity of ownership.

I am not sure about the state road tax to be paid, will update if I get some info on that.

Yes it us true that people are being harassed for riding / driving vehicle registered outside state.
I'm not sure what are the taxes and paper work you need for transfer of bike. There is a thread in here titled inter state vehicle/ bike transfer. Please post your question there also.
There is fb group called Justice for non KA registration vehicle. They have filled a petitions in supreme court for the same. But SC have informed them to file the same in high court. Join the group and keep an eye on the post it might be helpful.

As far as i know... Out station vehicles are allowed in other states for a period of one month. [maybe more or less according to state...] Taking NOC is required only when you are transfering your vehicle to another address/state... This means that the vehicle, according to the R.C will be considered a second hand vehicle after this transfer. If cops are bugging you, tell them confidently that you are here only for a short period [ if possible get fuel bills from another state which is less than 2 weeks old as proof]

If you're planning to shift completely to bangalore, give no thought, transfer completely..

But otherwise, if youre planning to go back, just make sure you are ready with a fuel bill, in case they catch you more than once or if they take down your registration number the first time..
Just be confident and know your rules..

I had to go through this procedure when i shifted my old scooter to Bangalore..

Hi Harish!

Welcome to BLR!
You should get the transfer done in case you're planning to stay >6 months here because running from cops every day isn't practical.
You need:
1. NOC + police challan stating the vehicle isn't stolen and is rightfully yours. Takes 1 day at max and 100 bucks. Fill in form 28 (IIRC) at the RTO first, then visit a nearby Police Station and get the letter stating that the vehicle isn't stolen. Standard fee with receipt for the same - 50 at the RTO and PS each!
2. Submit your RC + NOC + police challan + a copy of the bike's invoice at BLR RTO for processing.

Since yours is a 10 year old bike, your road tax should be lighter.
P.S - I hope you have your bike's invoice, as this is where the major chunk of under table money goes in! What was the ZMA's price then? 70k?

Your road tax will be in the range of 16% of 35% of 70k (assuming you bought your bike for 70k). Roughly 4000 rupees.
This is an old formula. Check Transport Department for more details.

Dude, suppose i am moving in from Delhi to Bangalore or somewhere in TN.. my bike is DL registered and I hope you know it

Now, my query is.. what if we don't have the invoice? I don't remember where I have them or even if I have them with me.. Why do they need the invoice when the bike is registered in our name?
